Which players have produced from the Sox' 2000 Number One Ranked Farm System? How many, exactly? It's funny how you think you could do a better job than him -- and by most of your posts thus far, I'm glad you aren't our GM, we'd be lucky to beat the Royals... :rolly
-
You're absolutely nuts. Kenny isn't one of the better GM's in the league, but he's far from the worst. If you actually want me to go on and tell you these GM's, if I have to, I will...
-
WT, that's the thing -- it's all hypothetical, situational, whatever you wanna call it. I'm just saying, if the offer is Konerko and Garland for Johnson -- that's it, the offer, no prospects or other people (although there might be a money exchange) -- you make the trade. And Murcie, I agree with you. Konerko has been a solid asset to this team the past x-amount of years. He's not the reason we're losing. But like you said, you have the chance to get the Big Unit, you gotta do it.

If the offer is just Garland and Konerko for Johnson, I don't know how anyone can balk at that offer. This is Randy Johnson folks. Don't tell me, "Oh, he's 41 years old, blah blah blah.". So what? Like someone said on this board earlier, plenty of guys have shown that they're able to play and play at a high level into their forties (Nolan Ryan, Roger Clemens, and though not yet 40, but still up there in age, Maddux and Schilling). Johnson is definitely one of them. Konerko was pretty bad on the road this year, and as much help as he provided playing at the Cell, we have a guy who has hit everywhere he's ever played in Ross Gload. Not to mention Gload is an upgrade defensively at first, too.. And, some of you need to get over Garland. While I'm one of Garland's bigger backers, IMHO, the best Jon will ever be is a solid number three. Not saying that is a bad thing, but I don't see Garland pitching a sub-4.25 ERA next season. I also believe (hold in the laughs) that Diaz has earned his shot at being our fifth starter, as he has dominated AAA, and should be given a fair shot -- not pitching on three or ten days rest, given more than one start -- at the fifth starters role. That, or sign a veteran to take the role... This is the Big Unit. If the deal is Konerko and Garland for Johnson, where the hell do I sign?

Oh - ok. My mistake. MoS, while it doesn't look good for this weekend, at least the weather is on our side. It's gonna be rainy on Sunday, so that's good. Damn, I cannot wait till next season. A healthy Bears D would definitely be able to hang with the Colts offense; unfortunately, we've been dealt a real lousy hand (Brown OUT, Tillman OUT, Urlacher OUT). That being said, I think our defense holds the Colts offense under 28, FWIW...

Joe Crede at his price is much, much >>>> than Vinny Castilla (he's awful outside of Coors). Harris, at his price, is also much >>>> than Guzman. So, I'd rather have Harris and Crede.

Again - Yards against doesn't mean much. A team can give up a lot of yards, yet is able to bear down when it really counts (past the 50, in the redzone). A football game is judged by points, correct? Not yards? Thus, points against should be the most important stat...
-
Everyone that has signed so far, the Sox shouldn't have interest in, or have been overpayed: Vizquel - given the extra year. He'll be 41 in that last year. Guzman/Castilla - Wow, way to make a splash, Washington... :rolly Percival - Good sign, but still, overpayed, IMHO, and the opinion of many others...
-
Give it a rest already... It's not even Thanksgiving, and already, b****ing, b****ing, and b****ing... Like Cheat said: Cardinals offseason moves: ________ Yankees offseason moves: ______ Cubs offseason moves: Neifi Perez Angels offseason moves: ______
-
Yep. Yards don't matter. I hate it when people judge a defense based soley upon yards allowed. Turnovers and points allowed, probably the two best stats to judge defenses, IMO.

You didn't answer the question. How many games this year did Everett play in CF?
-
How many games -- this season, for the Sox -- or for the Expos, for that matter, did Everett play CF?
-
Again, you're putting words in people's mouths. Quit doing that. Qwert called him a left fielder, never -- ever, a center fielder.
-
I'm totally lost now. How is Rauch a 20 game winner?
-
This isn't MVP 2004... You can't just put in any players, and put in any players on the other team, and swap... I dunno, you just seem to have a know-it-all attitude, like you know what will happen and is going to happen. Sometimes, things pop up that prevent certain trades from going through. Like in most cases, we just don't know...

Back to the main point of the thread, beck: I think that signing Koskie to, as mentioned earlier, three years, four million per, would be a great idea. Many pluses to adding Koskie. First and foremost, it takes away a key part of the Twins' success and adds him to our team. Second, he's a very good defender. Other pluses include his veteran leadership, left handed bat, ability to hit for power as well as ablility to walk.
-
How often do you see five turnovers in a game? Not often -- meaning that day, the defense played excellent -- as they have been playing the majority of the season. And you're personal attacks are pathetic. First, calling us 'Cub' fans is pathetic, now the f***ing idiots. I've come to expect it, though, so it's ok... :rolly
-
You're a joke. Turnovers are flukes? LOL! Yeah, don't take into consideration how the Bears got pressure on the QB, how the Bears forced fumbles, how the Bears were in the right position to make those turnovers... You know, Ben Roethlisburger is a fluke too. Had he not won all of those games, the Steelers would have a terrible record... :rolly
-
Yeah, Kenny is crying head over heels because he hasn't signed a free agent by Novermber 20th... :rolly How about some friggin patience, people? I realize last year we made no moves, but by all accounts, payroll will be up around 70-75 million, so we at least have a little change to work with. I know last year we didn't do anything, but here -- if nothing happens this offseason, rip me to shreds. Rip my head off. Have some patience. Kenny has done well so far by not overpaying for Guzman and Vizquel.
-
I don't want three years of Vizquel. Two years, twelve million (arguably) the best reliever on the market. Two year deals are nice. If it doesn't work out the first year, you can trade him at the deadline the following year. Is there a third year option for the player/team?
-
I have to believe that Kenny has at least one FA 2B in mind. While I think that, as an emergency option, Harris would be OK (not great, either) -- I gotta believe he's keying in on one FA from one of those two positions. Hopefully, Polanco. Speaking of which, how high would you guys be willing to go with Polanco? And, what kind of contract would you rather give him, one with more years, less money, or vice versa? He's 29, right? What about three years, 14 million? Too much? Too little?
-
Two years, twelve million? Maybe I'm the only one, but I think that's a damn good deal for the Tigers. This division is slowly on the rise, I'm tellin' ya. The crap we've fielded the past couple of years might have done well then, but no longer is Detroit gonna be a walk-in-the-park (LOL, even in their 100+ loss season, they weren't easy for us - so what the hell am I talking about? :banghead ). I know, I wish the Sox would have made an offer like that...
-
I'll tell you what... If Baltimore were to include Julio on your deal, I'd definitely do it. Roberts/Gibbons (who I don't think is very good, but could potentiallly break out here)/Julio would be a superb return for Konerko...
-
One more thing. From everything I've been hearing, Baltimore values Roberts much higher than Hairston...
-
Not in this thread, no, I haven't suggested Dye. I'm just saying that I don't want Gibbons -- or, at least in that trade. IMHO, Konerko > Roberts + Gibbons + Prospect. That deal would be a whole lot better, IMHO, if Julio was included. BJ Ryan, meh, I think he's the reliever who I've heard bad things out of (clubhouse wise). If we weren't to pick up anyone in the offseason, and Thomas wasn't ready to start the season, we'd be in quite a pickle -- however, I'd probably put Harris in center and Rowand in right, for the first month or so... * (*NOTE - This situation is totally hypothetical, and IMHO, unlikely to happen. If this organization is sure that Thomas won't be back by opening day, they will find a viable RF replacement, at least a guy who can fill in for a month or so.) BTW - I've never once even hinted at Joe Borchard being anywhere close to this team. If Borchard is even a backup on this team next year, we have some major problems (and I'm one of Borchard's backers, too).
