Which Player Will Be Talked About The Most

Milton would put up worse numbers at the Cell than Garland has done... -
Damn. The suicide squeeze from Jeff Suppan works. Nice bunt, too.

Yeah, Baltimore had great results - a seven game improvement that got them third place in the AL East! We had more results than Baltimore with limited funds. Why would a guy come to the White Sox? There's a lot of reasons. Chicago is a great place to live. Visiting players love coming to Chicago. It's a very appealing city. Ozzie has his ways as well. Garcia being just one example, with most likely, a couple more guys this offseason coming due to him. Plus, there's the thought of a challenge. Any smart player should realize that if he is able to lead this team to the World Series, they will absolutely own this city. Again - you're logic makes zero sense. BTW - Tell me again how payroll increases over the past couple of years does not constitute 'spending money' to you? Hell, if we had you as a GM or owner, Eric Milton would be the ace of this team...

A diving catch from Jim Edmonds saves two runs. What an amazing play. The tale of two centerfielders who are absolutely awesome in the field...

Which Player Will Be Talked About The Most

I don't think anyone on this board was expecting that. But a little consistancy would be nice. One night, five for five, ripping the ball, the next night, zero for five, looking like absolute garbage at the plate. Not to mention how poor he was on the basepaths (19 SB's from Willie Harris is not acceptable, IMO). That said, I do think that Ozzie handled him poorly this year. -

I agree with everything else you said, but how can you rate the Zhamnov trade as a bad one? We weren't going to the playoffs last year, and we weren't going to resign him at the end of the season, so why not get something for him? Good thing is, we got Vandermeer (who seems to be a pretty solid defenceman and still developing - IMHO, a number three or four in the future), Colin Frasier, who has a future as a third line piss-the-f***-out-of-you player (a b****, to phrase it differently), plus the extra second rounder last year (that I believe got us David Bolland, who is a very good player). That trade was a definite plus for this organization, and I don't say that often. -
Using your logic, people like Pudge Rodriguez wouldn't go to the Tigers, or why would a guy like Miguel Tejada go to Baltimore? They haven't been to the playoffs in a while, and with NY and Boston in that division, they probably won't go. Money talks. Then again, I expect something like that to come from you... :rolly

Ditto - probably $500-$1000, and probably $200-400 for any game before that (assuming the game isn't a clincher). And Steff, I'm also interested in knowing face-value of the Red Sox WS tickets...

Next time, can't you just say Lovie announces that Tim Couch will visit Halas Hall for the title or something? When I see Breaking News, I expect a signing, trade, something big - not a 'visit'...

Definitely De-Troit Sucks. It's still good today, it's just not as fun because the Hawks teams usually are trash. Damn, I long for the day when the Hawks bring the Cup back to Chicago... -

BTW - Halo 2 and GTA aren't really comparable games, so I don't even know why we're trying... I was just laughing/responding to your comment that Halo multiplayer is worse than GTA multi-(not really)-player. If GTA was, however, to install some kind of multiplayer system/online system into that game - man.. -

And for all you know, GTA could be a flop too (to your - 'This game is gonna be awesome comment)... So - right back at ya, buddy... BTW - I highly doubt that this game - a game which has been worked upon for more than a year - will flop. I highly doubt it. Highly. -

No need to start with the name calling, seriously. It's just differences of opinions. And, IMHO - and that of many others, Halo 2 >>> GTA. And, comparing Halo 2's multiplayer to GTA - switch every time you die - well, it really doesn't compare... -
If you got some time, read this thread on the Sons of Sam Horn website. I've been checkin it out the past couple of weeks, but this just got to me a bit... Look at the love for this team. Not gay Cub love, but rather a humbling (really, indescribable) love for their team. Check this out... SoSH Thread As I watch these playoffs, I pray for the day that the White Sox have a chance to play in the World Series. Man, would that be awesome...

I'll take the Yankees, coming back from down 2-0, to win it 3-2. The storybook ending to a great series... (Not really storybook, but the so-called "curse" continues, and yet another offseason of ESPN splooging all over the Cubs/BoSox curses).

While GTA is a great game... GTA is not better than Halo. Halo 2 will be the best game - probably ever made. It's gonna be so f***in awesome. And - you say that Halo isn't replay-able, yet I'm still playing Halo - and it's been out for a couple years now. And Halo 2 is supposed to be ten times better... -
I'm just saying, pitching at a place like this inflates one's ERA so damn much. Case in point, with Buehrle - something like a 2.55 ERA on the road, and a real high ERA at home. It's not something I get mad about, I'm just saying - only a really, really dominant pitcher would be able to hold a sub-four ERA throughout the course of one season pitching here (like the dominant year Loaiza had - except now, it's even harder with the top part of the roof cut off).
-
If he pitches at the Cell, I doubt he keeps that ERA under four. But that doesn't mean he'd be a bad pickup. Hell, even an ERA a tad bit over four will get the job done here. As long as he pitches well on the road, too, that'll help a lot. What are most of you expecting Morris to get on the market? Or will that be set by what Pavano & Pedro get, and then the rest will fall a little behind what they get? What I'm trying to spit out here - will what Pavano get set the 'precident' for FA pitchers this offseason? That's how it usually is, am I correct in saying that?
-
I think Morris could really be a good pickup. Then again - maybe he won't be, but what I'm trying to say is - I really think he'll be pursued. Why? Kenny likes to find those, sort of, bargain players; i.e., Schoeney last season, Loaiza two years ago. While those guys don't quit compare to Morris, Morris has just come off of one of his worst seasons - he'll likely be the fifth or sixth best candidate on the list, so he'll probably get paid in a range from four to seven million. He's very capable, that's for sure. I'm interested on more people's thoughts on Morris, as I am to engulfed in this ALCS game to find out how Morris is GB/FB wise, WHIP wise, ERA wise - stuff like that. For anyone who wants to research it - I'm interested to know, do you think he'd be a good fit, pitching at US Cellular?
-
The evil part in me wants Sweaty Keith to absolutely blow up here and lose it in the ninth. The compassionate part wants me to see Foulke dominate the next three hitters and send it into Game 7. (Not that any of you needed to really know that.)
-
Sweaty Keith walks Matsui. Not what Red Sox fans around the country need to see right now...
-
Oh, ok. Good point. I also like Kendall. And - if Pittsburg wants to eat five million or so, I'd seriously consider going after him. He'd be awesome for the top of the order. Imagine that - two guys in the top half of our lineup with .400+ OBP's in Thomas and Kendall - imagine all the RBI opportunities for the Big Hurt. Probably a dream, but he'd be a real nice aquisition...
-
I'm assuming that Pitt would eat at least half of the contract if we even gave them a half-way decent minor leaguer (not talking about Sweeney, Anderson, Mac). I could be wrong in thinking that, though... He or Greg Zaun would be nice pickups at the catching spot for this team. And, you'd be able to keep Burke up here, giving Ozzie three catchers, with Burke being a super-utility kind of a guy.
-
I don't really like that lineup, but Pittsburg really doesn't want anything to do with Kendall at this point. That contract is ridiculous, and he'd be a very good pickup for this team if we can aquire him without giving up major leaguers, as well as having Pitt eat most of the contract. Kenny ought to keep all his options open, and look at any opportunity to make this team better.
