  1. We gotta get another arm who we can rely on in the bullpen. Personally, I'd send Koch down to AAA and bring up Wunschy, at least he can get out lefties...
  2. Old Socks, always bringing the negativity. Tisk tisk. Billy's role is cleanup. Billy cleaned up the mess Garland made. Billy's new job is to just, not suck real real badly.
  3. Who's going to offer five? Even the Cubs didn't give five to Kerry Wood. You can lock up your pitchers. Hand out three year deals, and in the second year of the deal, look to extend.
  4. It was the first save opportunity in which I did not lose one hair off my head from pulling it out. Way to not koch it. Dictionary Definiton: koch - to blow something; to lose something. Shingo did not koch the game.
  5. WE HAVE A f***ING CLOSER! Did you guys see him? He was so damn happy! CONGRATS SHINGO!
  6. SHINGO SHINGO SHINGO SHINGO SHINGO!
  7. You don't NEED to extend pitchers to five year deals. Didn't the Rangers give Chan Ho a five year contract? Well, now it's biting them in the ass... Hell, even Kerry Wood's latest extension has him tied up for three more years, not five... Three year deals are fine, and if we can get one more young pitcher. Garcia, Sheets, Sabathia, or someone from the farm like Diaz, Cotts, or Munoz, we will have a pretty solid core of Buerhle-Garland- ______. Add guys like Loaiza and Schoenewies around them, and we will be alright for many years to come. Like I said, you have to lock up your pitching first and foremost.
  8. We need another righty in the bullpen...
  9. Yeah - if Frank doesn't take his option, a real tough decision is going to have to be made. But I'm pretty positive he'll take his 8 million dollar option.
  10. "If you try and build a team from the ground up, it doesn't work." - That is one of the most false statements I've ever seen. How did the Marlins win last year? How did the Angels win a couple years ago? As for the Braves - the pitchers, primarily were home grown. Except for Maddux.
  11. I really think something is going to happen in the next couple of days. A trade, a transaction, something will happen soon.
  12. Correct. Yeah - I wouldn't mind trading Borchard, and if he did well, I wouldn't be real happy about it, but as long as what we got performed well too.
  13. Frank's personal option (IIRC) is for 8 million. The team option is for 11 million. I think Frank will take his option of 8 million...
  14. Alright, but that doesn't mean you stay away from prospects all together. I mean, just because a couple of guys didn't turn out to be what they should, doesn't mean you stay away from it. That would be like saying, "Joe Borchard hasn't lived up to our expectations, so let's never take an outfielder in the first round ever again."
  15. Oh - Ok well than we're talking about something totally different. I would too, trade Borchard for a proven player. But some people are making it seem like all prospects will never come true just because we've had a couple of bad apples, or busts, come through our system. I'd trade our prospects, as long as we're getting guys who are worth it. Like, IMO, one of the few players I'd trade Reed for is Sheets. Why? Because he is going to be here beyond this season, plus, he is really coming into his own and becoming an ace. I probably wouldn't trade Borchard for some of these three month rent-a-players.
  16. Extending Frank - I think Garland is getting around the time of an extension too. Lee's contract goes up next year. Schoenwies' money he makes goes up too. If we resign E-Lo and Maggs, then that's about it for free agents...
  17. Yeah - hopefully everyone got their bad start out of their systems... BTW - I think when most people say 'We need a fifth starter', they mean more like a number three - a Freddy Garcia type.
  18. Maybe that will get Crede going. He got a cookie there and hammered it! Way to go MO!
  19. You missed it! Ozzie got tossed...
  20. Why are you so quick to call Borchard a bust? Rauch had a major arm injury - see Kris Benson, same thing happened to him. I'll give you a couple of the others, but Borchard and Rauch are pulling the trigger a bit quickly...
  21. Yeah - Teach him that one guy making a quarter of the payroll is a good thing! Rowand knows his stuff sox86. Don't try and pity up on him - he knows a lot more than others on this board...
