  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 04:56 PM) Oh please. Sorry, i'm choosing the MVP runner-up to the MVP. What a terrible opinion. FYI, Popovich agrees with you. He called Durant "The best player on the planet" right now.
  2. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:32 PM) Barnum killing a ball in his junior year He was also swinging a wooden bat just before his 8th grade year! There's a youtube video of him hitting a homer off a wooden bat when he was in elementary school.
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:43 PM) I'd say Smoral has inferior stuff to Hector. Hector has better fastball and more than one offspeed pitch. The only thing Smoral has is size and age, which may allow him to improve in those areas (I doubt the fastball gets better) Smoral's offspeed is already better than any of Santiago's secondary pitches and you just have to wait and see if an 18 year old can throw harder considering Hector didn't start throwing 95+ till he was moved to the bullpen (sitting at 90-94 just like Smoral). He didn't even have a screwball until his 2011 season since he threw a very "fringe" slider. Credit to him for adding another pitch, I don't see why Smoral can't either.
  4. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:29 PM) You don't make a draft decision based on Hector Santiago, Jose Quintana or the like. And I'd easily wager Smoral has better stuff than both those guys.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) And Xander Boggaerts whom you didn't mention is probably their best prospect Enormous upside for sure, not having as good a year as those three however. Potential wise though.. you are right, he's the best and is younger.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) KW must agree with me as to where our organization is lacking So did I.
  7. Jays picking alot of future sox in trades right now.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:01 PM) Cue Eddie Pearson/Brandon Allen comparisons. More like cue someone here mentioning Kenny drafting black players so far..
  9. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) That is a reach. Big time. Love his power though.
  10. I like what the new Astros GM is doing.
  11. Joey Gallo, the gym rat.. great pick for Texas.
  12. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) Supposedly Buxton did Giolito as well.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 09:11 PM) Even if he is "on", how can anyone have confidence in what he'll give us 3 years from now if we try to buy out his arbitration years? I agree which is why we shouldn't even be considering locking up young guys yet. The only one I would even entertain is Sale since he is just a freaking stud (and will cost alot in the future), but we'll see how his arm holds up.
  14. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 02:31 PM) If this last month is the real Beckham, I would consider giving him a deal. I still miss the doubles machine, walks at a good rate '09 Beckham, but the homers are nice. I'll truly know he's back when I see those things out of him, but I like what I'm seeing from him.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:53 PM) Technically he didn't in high school. He had a great slider though. Hawkins secondary pitches are all mediocre at best with what I read. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) 18 year olds never hit 98. I wouldn't go that far either. Some (rarely though) high schoolers have been blessed to touch 98+ at 18 in the past.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:57 PM) Our system has several more players that are likely to be MLB pitchers than MLB hitters That's what I see too.
  17. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:49 PM) Safe bet is college pitcher at 48. Pierce Johnson, Alex Wood, Brian Johnson Jake Barrett, Chris Beck, Brandon Kline, and Pat Light are some names to consider. Too bad sox aren't expanding their options. Would love to see throw a curveball and take Roache, but pitching is a dire need in our system.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:46 PM) Most of the pitching stuff claims that he "touches" 90. He's not a professional pitcher and if it came to that, he'd be too old to make the turnaround quick enough. He just needs work on his approach at this point. Correct. His potential is mega good as a hitter. He was drafted as an OF, that's what the sox view him as in the future.

Alot of our top guys are showing up tonight. Danks, Phegley, Mitchell, Wilkins all with good games. Hell, even Molina has pitched well so far. OT: Oh.. and Bradley, Barnes and Shaw are studs for the Red Sox. Damn them.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 08:38 PM) I know it's a silly question likely, but Hawkins will be used as an OF and not pitcher, correct? Correct. Potential is way more as a hitter.
  21. Lets hope our Texas scout Keith Staab has another hit like he did when he recommended Danks to KW at the time of the trade and not his recommendations of Broadway and McCullough (also recommended Boone Logan) when the sox were drafting safe at the time. I like the pick.
  22. Future Sox/Jays trade with Stroman..
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 4, 2012 -> 03:55 PM) It's official. Jason's dick is the biggest. But it is also uncircumcised...
  24. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 3, 2012 -> 11:23 PM) Kevin Goldstein ‏@Kevin_Goldstein Stetson Allie's pitching career ends at 26.2 IP, 37 BB, 10 HBP, 10 WP. Reply Retweet Favorite I still like him alot as a starter. Was a big fan of his at the time. I think they are giving up on him way too early. Definitely needs a mechanic tweak (hello KW).
