  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 17, 2012 -> 08:28 AM) If we or any other team had signed him, it'd be circus music time. Last year it was the awful Kyle Farnworth. This year it's Rodney. They just find badness and make it somehow good. Jim Hickey is a terrific pitching coach. They still got the Zim master lurking down there too.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 14, 2012 -> 05:05 PM) He hasn't been as bad as the couple big mistake plays he's made in CF would suggest, he's shown good range out there, and frnakly, he's still effectively a rookie out there, so he does have room to grow into that position. He has played 270 career minor league games at CF (the most out of every other position) and was a -16. (LF +7) He certainly had his drops/misplays back then, but he was much better (range wise) at LF. I liked him alot when he was playing for the Hammerheads. But unless the sox trust Rios at CF again, or if they stopped dicking around with Viciedo's development at a position for 3 years (I was adamant on Tank playing RF for years), he would be much more tolerable. I have no idea what people here were expecting, and admittedly, I haven't watched much sox games this year due to work (so no idea what his UZR looks like this year, or from the eye test so I'm going by what posters like fathom and others say) but if he's still the same guy I saw/remember back in 06-07, he will be serviceable in CF. (but he is a much better LF)
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 14, 2012 -> 04:12 PM) I don't think he's been bad at all. Rios has been good out there, and De Aza has been a massive disappointment defensively. He should be in LF. He would be a plus defender out there, but then everyone else in the OF would have to be shifted again.
  4. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 14, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) This pitching matchup has regression to the mean written all over it. Danks is a far better pitcher than we've seen so far, and he made progress his last outing. His ERA is headed down, he'll continue to improve. Smyly pitched in only 23 minor league games in his career, and he's currently leading the league in ERA? Below 2? Not sustainable. He's got weaknesses, they will be found, soon. His ERA has to go up. And the Sox did better against him than anyone else has thus far. Let math be math tonight. Either that or this will be the ultimate jinx post tonight.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 12, 2012 -> 08:59 PM) Semien on quite the tear these days. I know he's one of your favorite prospects. Great May for him. Also congrats to Walker on his first professional home run.

  7. QUOTE (flavum @ May 11, 2012 -> 07:59 AM) Royals series matchups: Paulino- Floyd Hochevar- Stults Sale Duffy- Humber Sweep these guys. Get a winning streak going. Yea that looks much better. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 12, 2012 -> 08:25 AM) Scott Podsednik picked up by BoSox. LMFAO.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 10, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) In the 2011 draft alone he took 2 players that CONTRIBUTED for the blackhawks this season in Saad and Andrew Shaw. It's been reported that it was actually Bergevin (director of scouting at the time) who pleaded with Stan to take Shaw. Bergevin just got hired as the Habs GM.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 10, 2012 -> 09:16 AM) Nice trolling, caught alot of guys here. It was amazing to me how many posters were baited.
  10. This was interesting. (posted at 300 level) An Interesting Perspective On Coach Kitchen
  11. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 8, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) They fired the wrong guy. Zero confidence in the leadership of this team moving forward. Just idiotic. Agreed 100% Just idiotic. Hell, he was the guy who coached the Hawks PK during their Stanley Cup run before Q (for whatever reason) hired Kitchen to coach the PK/defense. Hell, Havy was the one who helped develop alot of the Hawks players (some still there, some moved on) when he coached Norfolk and Rockford. Adam Jahns(@adamjahns)
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) Baron just suffered one of the worst knee injuries you'll ever see He's done. Sad way to go out. Took the injury like a G though. No wincing at all. Donald Sterling is still an asshole with what he help do to Davis.
  13. Can't believe no one mentioned Gary Thorne.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 7, 2012 -> 10:05 AM) Ok, so if you are able to complete it again, is there some way to modify the program so that you can sustain a high level of fitness but without going all nuts about it? Yes, but it's completely up to me to stop eating so late. I usually get enough of a workout at work, but the constant eating is what kills me. I'll either have to do this when I get out of work (very tired, not giving 100% of the effort) or do it when I wake up and try to stop the eating (and bad at that) when I get out at 5 in the morning.
  15. Most relievers are failed starters (in the minors or majors). I still remember when LaTroy Hawkins was awful as a SP.
