QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) Ramirez is not a player you build around. Agreed. That is not insane to think about.

Wow.. did not see this comming.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 08:06 AM) his post is equivalent to striking out in T-Ball. Glad to see someone else (am sure there's others) that thought of him as "highly" as I did. -
Probably the best appreciation thread we've had on this site since Frank left. I have words.. but I can't type them all like Q did so it's like I have none anyway. Mark.. you will be very missed.

Buehrle Signs with Marlins | 4 yrs $58 mil
SoxAce replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No words for this... my second favorite player ever (Frank of course is the first) and now he's gone. This was KW's doing here. Mark should have retired here. We all knew this was going to happen, but it really is a kick in the balls to officially see it. Gonna miss my favorite sox pitcher ever and a guy who has battled adversity all his career as a no name/stuff/chance 38th round pick. -
Take your talents to South Beach. Everyone is doing it now-a-days.

Really good dude. he's done well for himself on beating the odds when he was once a failed position player (not to mention has a very hot wife. ). Best of luck in Toronto Sergio.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 09:28 AM) I've clearly stated my opinion in PHT recently. I think it's a perfect time to let Buehrle walk, but he'll only be proving himself a complete hypocrite if he signs somewhere far from St. Louis for a huge sum of money/years. ... So? Who in the world isn't a hypocrite? Hell, we got one of the biggest ones GM'ing our team right now. The man has pitched his ass off for 10+ years with us, won a ring, and actually took less cash with us during his last pending FA year if you remember when he had a bigger market for pitching hungry teams to stay here. Hey, he had a change of heart. Maybe it was his wife who influenced his decision? We don't know. Can't fault the guy in either case for wanting to cash in for his last big contract. It is entirely in his right to test the waters. If KW didn't have all these huge contracts here, he probably stays (especially with JR adoring him as much as Konerko). -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 09:23 AM) Huh? What does this have to do with me? Just rememeber a post in a thread (not sure which) from both of you about Buehrle. Bucket is also a guy here who has his source(s) on this site. Both of you guys (along with a couple others) are excellent feedbacks on inside info.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) So who is the next to go if Floyd/Danks are on hold? I'm going with Thornton as I don't see his market getting much better by waiting. Quentin might become more attractive for teams that miss out on a big bat. Obviously it's gonna be another "WTF" deal and we'll see Alexei go in the next 24 hours.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 09:15 AM) Many Sox fans have grown up with Buehrle, have seen him pitch here for over a decade, and now they can't take the possibility he is leaving here for more money (judging from Cowley's remarks) or perhaps changing his remind on retirement. Yes, I understand Cowley has his agenda; but even if his source is correct it doesn't change my view of Buehrle. My position is, so what if he does? What more does he owe this organization or its fans? All too often fans become attached to someone and feel they should never leave. I'm honestly reluctant to open up the Aaron Rowand thread.... Honestly, it's not as bad as you think.. And I'd miss Buehrle more than Konerko (who will still be here most likely) and I'm fine with him leaving if that means the sox are rebuilding. (same with Konerko getting dealt if the sox find their future 1B) I hope Mark gets all the money he can at this point. -
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 08:52 AM) Haul for Gio will be very nice and more than Danks. Lots of action on him right now. Loser of Gio derby calls KW back. Danks doesn't move until after Gio. Well... anyone but Detroit. Gio is a beauty. Personal favorite prospect of mine not named Jeremy Reed when he was here. Would hate to have to root against him. Oh and p.s. Rock.. bucket also has his "source(s)" bro.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 6, 2011 -> 06:54 PM) I used to think that Bill Simmons knew what he was talking about, then I read the last two articles in his "12 Days of NBA Christmas" series. I keep telling people he is not as smart as people think. In fact.. I can't stand him. Think the media/certain people overrate him.

Props to Marty for calling out selling Santos to his highest value. (and I doubt he'll have another season like he did this prior one) KW sold high on this deal (supposedly.. Jays GM is very good though. Hopefully our scouts like this guy as well as his numbers indicate). Addison Reed, as I've stated many times, is the future closer of this team. Looks like the sox FO believes he is ready or close to it (Crain might get first dibs).

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 5, 2011 -> 12:59 AM) As a college grad (in 5 days), my list looks much different than it usually has. I'd like to add another suit to my collection, since I'm a broadcaster and more dress clothes in general. I like to thing I have a pretty incredible collection of ties for a 22 year old. A nice watch wouldn't be bad. Some re-ups on my favorite colognes. Other than that, I can't really think of anything. The ESPN 30 for 30 collection on Blu Ray would be neat. Being home for Christmas (mine is on JAN 7) for the first time in a while and knowing I won't have to go back to school in general will be a new feeling. Man.. I'm the same way. Nice dress clothes/shoes is probably all I'd want (though I wouldn't mind a new laptop. ) Oh.. and a sox rebuild.

That looked like a ACL/MCL injury for Forte. Not good. Hopefully not too serious. -

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) It would be kind of neat if Washington signed both CJ and MB. It'll make me puke personally. Rizzo alone makes me dislike that franchise (although I love seeing Stras pitch and Bryce when he's ready).

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 4, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) Agreed on Beckham. If this is a real rebuild, deal Ramirez and put Lillibridge at short. A real rebuild would have Escobar there (barring trade for another ML ready young SS) unless sox still thinks he needs another year in AAA with the bat (or how highly they view him at all).

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 3, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) This is the second time I've seen this proposed. As I asked the first person, what single rational reason would the Rangers trade Derek Holland for John Danks? Holland might be Danks' equal right now. And he's a WHOLE lot cheaper and under control for a WHOLE lot longer. Makes no sense whatsoever. The only thing that makes sense is that Holland is under control for cheap and really, that's all that needs to make sense. Danks is better than Holland though (hell Danks just had his worst season since his rookie year and still put up a better WHIP, while both playing at hitters parks. Danks is an old f*** compared to Holland as well... he and his one year oldness) but both have a ton of similarities in their numbers however. It wouldn't make sense for Texas in that regard (even if Danks was a guaranteed re-sign over there), but I always thought they had a soft spot for Danks who is homegrown and who they helped develop (that DVD rotation I remember was the s*** back in their old farm days). I doubt they trade Holland in any case however. Depends on what Texas believes what Danks can become. (or pretty much... if they view him as high as I do down the line)

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) Not even news. But his name is the s***! And look at that, Ben Smith did more in one game than Bickell has in what.. his last 20? geez.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 2, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) I like the Bennett extension, the guy can ball. He's a legit #2 WR in this league. Absolutely. By far the best WR we have on the team. Lets hope the Bears can actually give Cutler a legit #1 next year. Hell, I'll take a #2 to develop as well if that means Bennett can be in the slot as our #3 (our own reliable Wes Welker). Bennett is fine as a #2/3 though.
