2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 3, 2012 -> 03:33 AM) So who will be the first Sox player to rock this song? I figured the obvious answer would be Teahen, but he is not here. My money is on Lillibridge. Maybe Adam Dunn, but I doubt he will stray from a country song. PS: I did you all a favor by not posting the music video version. Trust me, you DO NOT want to see the music video....... . . . . . . ...but now you're curious! Haha, suckers. Who hasn't seen the video? (Well... who isn't over 30?) Dunno if they will put that on with kids in the park either other than the instrumental version of it. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 10:48 PM) It's a good thing Edmonton isn't gonna make the playoffs, cause the Hawks can't beat them this year. Pretty awful effort tonight. Carcillo's an idiot, not gonna miss him at all. Hawks suck against faster teams who play a run and gun style. (Edmonton, Colorado for example) And I have no idea what Crawford was doing on that Eager goal. Awful.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) Knee injury looked serious. Wouldn't be surprised at all if it was an ACL tear. Looked bad, couldn't put any weight on it, and it looked extremely floopy/loose. It's a shame too. He was having a nice couple of games comming back from his first injury. Probably gives Hayes more time up there though when Kruger comes back.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) Listen up, people.......I'm not playing. :lolhitting

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 02:28 AM) If Rubio wins the ROY, the 2009 Draft Class will have 3 ROYs Also, I suggest the nickname "Ricky 'Rifle' Rubio" as he is similar to Maravich. He just has ridiculous vision, creativity and a high I.Q. on the court. Should be starting soon as well.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 12:22 AM) You ever begin to start thinking about everything you drank the night before, and then pause and ask yourself how you are possibly still alive? Did that today. I made the biggest mistake of not eating anything before I went out. Woke up the next day threw up 7 times (by far the most I've ever thrown up after a hangover) and was hungover till 9 pm. Saw my wallet and saw video of me around 5 am off a friends phone still drinking (had more booze in the car) while falling on my ass several times outside after the bar and it's crazy to even think about it.

Wow Simon Castro. I remember when Padre fans were deeming him untouchable like two years ago. Good arm.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 30, 2011 -> 12:07 PM) Good point. I'm just a fan of his, but I doubt that the consistency he lacks will ever come around. He has everything you'd like in a young player as far as skill (and he improved defensively) but his lack of finish is horrible. By far the weakest shot on the team.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 12:47 AM) Rose tonight: 42 minutes 8-14 for 57% fg% 3-4 on 3 pointers 10-11 from the line 8 rebounds 16 assists 1 steal 29 points PER 37.81 TS% 79.69% Game Score 32.6 (absolutely insane) Offensive Rating 149.48 DRose has had two absolutely insane games so far. He had a 88% TS against the Lakers and now he pulls off an 80% TS game. The fact he had 16 dimes along with almost 30 points is incredible. Jesus.. Very efficient game from him as well. 10+ FT is what I love to see from him on a nightly basis.

Brewer and Watson were very good tonight. And it's still early, but looks to me Derrick has regressed a bit defensively in all areas. Hopefully Thibs can get on him a bit on that.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 09:26 AM) And while I think Frasor will be solid for us next year, if he rejected arbitration he could have been replaced fairly easily in free agency. Picking up that option never made sense to me. He's a Chicago boy, so obviously we were looking out for him. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 07:33 AM) Really though, you could still be right. He could be traded in the 2013 offseason, KW has done crazier things I think it was obvious he meant 2012, but that is a hell of a miscalculation on the year. He damn well can be right next season. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 01:16 AM) If any of you recall, it was me (and maybe J4L?) who were the ONLY two people who welcomed and thought he would be a decent pitcher for us, and I STILL am not that optimistic about Humber. It was Heads I believe. (although me and I believe shack or 2k5 were optimistic about him. Liked him as a prospect several years ago pre TJ.)

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 04:33 AM) You lucky motherf***er. Thornton was most definitely the better pitcher this year, but he only beat Soria in 2 of those 5. Haha, I was looking for his post for the same thing. That is crazy. Oh and I was right about Pierre having a down year defensively, and of course I was way off about my wacky prediction of Quentin being healthy and the pennant. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2011 -> 07:52 PM) What do you expect from a Loser? ^^^ This.
-
They've always had the most trouble against GS. In fact.. it was that team that gave Rose the most fits last year. (I believe he had 9 turnovers in a game, by far his worst) There is always one team in the NBA a contender just can't figure out. (whether that is scheme, athleticism/youth, etc.. it happens)
-
Stalberg is playing like a man possessed out there. Doing all of this with only 10-11 minutes of ice time a game.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Dec 26, 2011 -> 10:44 PM) Stephen Curry has 15 points, 6 assists, 6 steals and 3 rebounds on 4-of-5 shooting in the first half. That's really, really, really, REALLY good. His stat line was ridiculous tonight. Although I will admit I've always had a man crush on him and his potential. Brought him up several times last year. (Ellis is/was holding him back on touches, or controlling the point last season, looks much better under Jackson in letting Curry go in the half court while still getting his)

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 25, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) The last 5 NBA champs (Spurs, Lakers 2, BOS, DAL) had all this elite athleticism where? Kobe and.....Lamar? Or Big Fundamentals and....Tony Parker? Garnett and....Pierce? Tyson Chandler and....Jason Terry? I am sorry, I don't see much elite athleticism outside of 1 guy. Thank you. While I agree with J4L that the athleticism on this team besides Rose and Noah/Brewer to an extent is sub par, there is more to the game (and what it takes to win) than just freak athletes. Oh and Pierce isn't that athletic, and KG lost alot of hops. I would say Rondo is by far on that team.
-
:notworthy
-
Rondo was amazing that game. If he keeps doing that, he'll put himself on the map as a top 3 PG. And Lamar Odom is trying to do too much to impress obviously.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 14, 2011 -> 08:34 PM) Thanks, Tex. Those early 90's teams will always be my favorite. Ditto. I feel blessed to have grown up watching those sox teams play when I was little. Very entertaining.
