  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) Exactly what they were looking for. And if they rebuild with him (besides the obvious albatross, though Peavy is gone after next season luckily), it's exactly what I'm looking for as well.
  2. QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 07:07 AM) LTS? Long Term Supplemental.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 01:29 AM) Winner of that Brewers-Dbacks series will be the only team in either LCS that I remotely like(really like the Brewers, can deal with AZ), I can't stand Detroit or Texas and I'm basically bored with Philly and St. Louis at this point. Agreed 100% (but I hate Detroit a bit more so I hope they lose, but I won't really care if Texas loses either)
  4. As a Ford worker currently/local, I'm not going to comment on this at all until our contracts are finalized. With that said.. there is alot of B.S. internally (especially with Ford once again with their "promises" which many of the LTS heard back in 07 [luckily I was hired on much later] being thrown around again, especially with more jobs) and alot of split on this from the workers (pros and cons) and I will leave it at that.
  5. After thinking it over some (and doing some research on Robin..) I love this move. Ridiculously underrated as a leader.
  6. Ha. I thought my co-workers were kidding about this the whole time. Just found out now. Really weird to see, but Robin was a favorite of mine growing up so I think it's awesome. Now, from a baseball perspective I don't know, but I'll reserve judgment. I hope we find a way to deal these expensive fools and rebuild fully (hell even 1-2 gone would be nice) but definitely won't hold my breath.
  7. What a surprise.. injury prone Dave Bolland questionable for the first game of the season (and possibly Saturday) according to Q. Oh, and Barry Melrose picks the Hawks to win the cup this year. (he was the one who picked us to win it in 09-10)
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) Where do you get that from? By all accounts when people in his life have been interviewed they've said he's a really good down to earth guy. I met him a few weeks ago at a bar and he was as nice as can be. daa84 is a Vandy guy with quite a few friends who went to school with Cutler. If anyone would know a thing or two about college players from Vandy it would be him. Hell he was the guy who knew about Pedro Alvarez before he put himself on the prospect map 3+ years ago.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) Early line predictions from Jesse Rogers (ESPN Chicago) & from practice today: Sharp/Toews/Saad Brunette/Kane/Hossa Bickell/Bolland/Frolik Mayers/Smith/Olesz Keith/Leddy Hammer/Seabrook Montador/Scott ODonnell/Lepisto Dear god have mercy on us all...
  10. While I agree with Marty if your rebuilding, you trade off assets who could net a good return (like Alexei) but I doubt any trade you do for a prospect(s) will net you an Andrus type talent in return (and if it is, it will surely be in 2-4 years, possibly longer) not to mention we don't have one in the wings currently (if you play Escobar, you either expect guys like Beckham, Morel, Flowers, De Aza, etc. to really improve, or in De Aza's case, maintain that level of play and to not have Konerko regress and I'm not even counting Dunn, Rios and the pitching staff) And prospects are not even a guarantee to fully make it in the bigs (and I'm still skeptical a bit in our scouting as far as hitting prospects). You either gotta have faith at the front office, or hope a guy becomes the answer in 2-3 years. (big fan of Saladino but again.. hit or miss) You really can't do a complete rebuild however with certain guys tied onto the roster. (though I still want A.J. gone somehow) Luckily this will probably be Peavy's last year with his buyout looming so I'm sure he'll "pitch like a bulldog" next season which also helps the sox financially with options. I'm just not a big fan of going the Royals route of completely sucking unless I have Tampa/Atlanta's scouts.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 09:52 PM) I also see where Rowand said Sale had better stuff than Prior and it's not close. hahaha. Proves fans don't know s*** (me included). Pssh.. look at my post on that subject. I knew it cause I saw Prior and Sale both pitch in college. Sale has very good stuff, but he isn't in Prior's neighborhood. (and that is no knock, Prior was just that good) QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 01:46 AM) I really hope Danksy is traded. I love the guy, but I don't think we have the money to sign him, and I think he will get us the larger return on prospects. Get it done, Kenny. And I will maintain my ways on saying it would be a horrible mistake if Danks is traded. (unless you absolutely can not sign him to a Buehrle type deal) He still has too much upside untapped. (and yes.. I'm his biggest fan, and I know Floyd is Jason's biggest fan)
  12. Blanke is a better prospect anyways, so that's cool.
  13. I doubt its Fisk. From what I heard, the sox want a manager who is also fluent in speaking Spanish to help communicate with the latin players. Martinez, LaRussa, Alomar and Pena are all fluent in Spanish. Not sure if that is why Francona isn't high on the sox list, but it might go with it.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 06:53 AM) I still extend my offer to help but I don't really have any experience As usual..
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 08:53 AM) At least IMO, "He's no Roy Halladay" really isn't a harsh criticism. I don't think anyone was disagreeing with that (well JPN hasn't responded yet..) nor should they.

    i am drunk

    Feelin pretty nice on a Sunday (or Monday.. whatever) Ya.. drinking on a Sunday/Monday. Sue me.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 06:24 PM) And LH just owned J4L. I totally forgot about that. Damn you, JPN. I'll give LH that (it was a bad comparison), but jumping on a guy who just pitched his first ever playoff game is way too harsh. Not every young pitcher can be Matt Moore.
  18. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) Either way, you definitely do not go out with another girl while dating her. You probably shouldn't even ask the other girl out first, as that's pretty s***ty. Imagine yourself in that position. You find out your girlfriend asked another guy out, he said no, so she kept dating you. Or you find out that your girlfriend went out on a date with another guy while still dating you. I'd be pretty angry and I think you would be, too. Pssh.. your just not a player Milk..
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 07:20 PM) There's guys who are type A that are worth far less in value. Absolutely. And Buehrle is used to that his whole career. Many people still ask how the hell does a guy with mediocre stuff (and even that is being nice) have 2 no hitters (1 was a perfect game) in his career.
  20. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 09:31 AM) I'm not convinced Francona is the right man for the job. Great managers are those who can get more out of less. In Boston, Francona has always been surrounded with top talent and payrolls. He is a very good in-game manager with an outstanding temperament with players (prior to this year, with whatever speculation people believe happened in that clubhouse with players mailing it in early, players dysfunction from others etc). He is not at the top of my list, but he is definitely top 3. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 09:36 AM) I wonder how the Red Sox vacancy will affect the White Sox manager search. Martinez seems like a guy Theo would covet. In fact.. it makes perfect sense to me.
  21. D. Rose's new Adidas commercial. (Looks like Pooh got a couple of new tats in the summer as well) Check out Adidas's slogan at the end.. Adidas is "all in."
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 05:10 PM) CF, this is really some of your best work. You're making us all proud. I've never seen this side of him before. Makes a brilliant post like this.. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Well, Marty "The Genius" 34. We finished 9-10 games back of the Twins in 2004. Clearly they were more talented, they'd crushed the White Sox in 2003 and won three consecutive division championships. So tearing apart the entire organization and dumping everyone to rebuild at that point in time would have been the prudent move from a financial standpoint in order to protect JR's pocketbook. Oooops, they did that, well, sort of....getting rid of Ordonez, Lee and Valentin. But KW clearly didn't trade away every talented player left for "prospects/suspects," like you're suggesting with Ramirez and Santos. And we actually won the World Series the following year. What do you know? A clever retort besides we finished 15 games behind the Tigers would be nice, but I'm not expecting much...thanks in advance for your time and consideration. So Marty, how is 2011-12 any different for this organization with KW in charge than 2004-2005? Because we finished 9-10 GB instead of 15 and were OH SO CLOSE (seemingly) to the juggernaut Twins? Then goes back to "caulfield" with this stuff. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) You were there with Rodin to notice "The Thinker" lurking in that block of granite...or warning onloading passengers to leave the Titanic before its maiden voyage, or the Hindenburg.
  23. Second place again. Shoulda picked Konerko, Viciedo and De Aza 90% of the time like buhbuhburrrrlz did.. Congrats man, and it is just awful luck I keep getting top 3 in this and still not winning. Good to see elrockinMT and LittleHurt05 still in the top 5 as well. There's always posters who win it kinda flukey, but you guys are always up there till the end along with myself. (and I still can't win the damn thing.. )
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 29, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) He still had a much better arm then, than he does now. He was a guy who sat around 90, and could push it up to 92-93 when he needed to. That change was still coming around then, and really got perfected under Cooper. You are correct about his change. His slider as well was getting corrected/fine tuned. The cutter however is what really made him go.
