Have no quants with what Floyd did. Was it dirty? sure, but it was legal. Ortiz had him by the ropes then loses his cool since he couldn't get a good punch to his face and head butts him. Then he apologized with a kiss on his cheek then apologizes again before Floyd pulled the punk move and dropped him. Floyd was probably gonna win the fight anyways IMO (had control for most of it) but if you want to be considered the best (and he does) the great ones don't need to pull crap like that to win a fight. He doesn't give a s*** what anyone thinks of him and at times, thats what makes him so good mentally, but eventually it will catch up to him if he continues to pull these shenanigans. I still think he will eventually fight Pac-Man (and honestly Pac-man is probably the only guy I can see taking Floyd out, who I had winning this fight against Ortiz BTW) but he will, as usual, pick his spot to do it. (either with Pac-Man worn down from fighting more, or Floyd fighting with alot of time off) Tonight, he lived up to his nickname. He was "money."

Chapter 151: the future (6:10pm, CSN)
SoxAce replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 07:46 PM) It was just a matter of time. LF/1B/3B should be very good to the Royals for quite some time. Their DH ain't bad either. (though I know your not as much of a fan of Butler as I am) -
Chapter 151: the future (6:10pm, CSN)

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 07:34 PM) I see him as a back of the rotation guy and stated as such at the time of the trade. I think people were way too high on him. Yea I see him putting up 02-04, 06 Garland-type numbers with a possible 05, 10 numbers down the road. -
I want Mayweather winning this. Only sets up Pac-man ending his undefeated streak more and more.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 10:29 AM) Woohoo, a mention! How egotistical am I that I didn't bother reading the thread, just searched each page for my name? It was a joke you weren't beforehand.

I'll make the W.S. soxtalk roster. But in all honestly, it can go alot of ways with these posters. I won't count myself (if I would of, it'll be a scout) There are others who I missed and are deserving as well. (but these guys stick out more in my mind) (GM) Kalapse or qwerty Can't go wrong with either Kal or qwerty. By far the best all around. (Assistant GM) chw42 The "Rick Hahn" of the soxtalk assistant if you will. His saber knowledge (and contract negotiation in numbers) will be a nice 1-2 punch for Kal or qwert. (If Cheat was still posting here, he would've been the pick instead) (Manager) Steve9347, Papa Tru, or NUKE No doubt in my mind either of these three will run the club well. I personally lean more towards NUKE as he reminds me of the Lou Brown of soxtalk. (Pitching Coach) fathom or Balta1701 Two guys who will definitely watch out for my pitcher's arms and overall fatigue. Can be alittle anal with the pitch count, but I'll take that when those arms are still fresh come playoff time. (Hitting Coach) Dick Allen or BigSqwert I will shock the baseball world by hiring Greg Walker's favorite fanboy in DA. Scary thing is, I'll bet he would be a better hitting coach. Already has the username for it. And I'll admit, I picked Sqwert entirely of his name. Who wouldn't want Gordon Beckham sqwertin loads all over those center field gaps? BigSqwert will definitely unleash Slayer back. (Director of amateur scouting) Rex Hudler, Cerbaho-WG or Chisoxfn Long retired on these boards as the original scouts but any of them can be the directors of it. (Scouts) danman31, Ozzieball, JPN366, DirtySox, scenario The best in the soxtalk business. I personally think most of these guys fly under the radar too much. (International scouts) JoshPR, DBAH0, Flash_Tizzle I need my scouts to actually scout the other areas and I know these guys will do them well. Plus, other than Flash, (who will get a nice bonus to move out to the Dominican Republic for a while to scout for the next Liriano) they actually live in their respected countries so they have the time to closely watch on kid's potential. (Team trainer) ptatc The biggest no brainer out of any choice. (Team beat writer) SoxFan1, Milkman delivers or J4L I need a beat writer who tells it like it is. No bulls***ing with anybody. Doesn't get any better than these three. (I would personally lean more towards J4L for entertainment purposes. I would have added Gregory Pratt if he didn't scare me, but SoxFan1 can pick up the experience part of it, if he's the pick) (Sox insider) docsox24, RockRaines, spataro51 or bucket-of-suck Who wouldn't want either of these guys inside the FO news/rumors that 9/10 times proves to be true? (Southpaw) greg775, elrockinMT Two guys who will definitely keep the crowd into the game with their funny, optimistic ways. Down 10-0?! Wouldn't feel like it with these two in the stands! (Beer vendor) drunkbomber, witesoxfan or Heads22 A guy who will serve you beer already wasted?! (and will probably drink yours anyway?) I'll take that as my beer vendor. (Sox Historians) Tex, BigEdWalsh, FlaSoxxJim, YASNY There are a couple older posters as well, but I feel these guys have seen enough baseball in their lived to write some great stuff in sox history. Great knowledge.

Beane on Pitt playing him, Moneyball movie
SoxAce replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 09:26 AM) You realize Royce Clayton is in Moneyball, right? He plays Miguel Tejada. LMFAO! -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 08:30 AM) Sandy Alomar Jr. is connected to this franchise, played here a couple times, even was traded for as a stopgap and was buehrle's private catcher for half a year after the Widge was let go Might as well add his brother and Carl Everett to that list then.. Hell, Jim Thome had a couple years here. He had his best years in Cleveland and will retire in Cleveland, with a call to the hall with an Indian cap on, but dammit he's in-house with us! Sandy Alomar Jr. is 'connected' (and I'm doing the same thing J4L did when he quoted it that way) with this franchise cause he had a little taste in sox gear here. I don't think anyone here would consider him an "in-house" name.

QUOTE (balfanman @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) Ozzie is quoted in the Tribune today saying that he's going to keep playing the same guys. He can't leave soon enough in my book. "Guillen said he would continue to play most of his starters instead of the younger players for the final 13 games." Of course, they need that second place finish for the coaches to get their 10K bonus for X-mas. What a great guy Ozzie is!

Cooper and/or Ozzie status could affect MB coming back next year
SoxAce replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:16 AM) That he had been so consistent coming into this month was pretty astounding considering his peripherals, which were never impressive in the first place, had declined over the last few years. Somebody should bump that "Continuing decline of Mark Buehrle" thread back up. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 07:10 AM) Mark with a cool 11.74 ERA and 2.54 WHIP this month. 33 hits in 15.1 IP. Ouch. That's second half 2006 bad. All part of the plan to resign him with that hometown discount! -
I hope to god someone in that org. steps in and lets Ozzie know they better be seeing Flowers, De Aza, maybe even Escobar playing more consistently now to go along with Beckham, Morel, Viciedo and the young arms.
-
Morel.
-
Just outstanding for the org and for those kids. Congrats to them! Went from last to first (some of those players were on last year's losing team as well).
-
Will probably be the deepest team the Brew Crew has to throw out there for the playoffs for who knows how long. The time to win the damn thing is now with some solid players (and damn good in Fielder's case) leaving after this year one way (FA) or another (trade). Kind of similar to the Blackhawks in that aspect. Definitely a team to root for. It's a shame too that Prince is saying this now, and might potentially leave. He and Braun are just a joy to watch hit back to back. Reminds me of the Ramirez/Ortiz years in Boston.

Mine is obvious to those posters who have been here a while. (for those posters who don't know, it was my favorite prospect ever, Jeremy Reed) I don't know if you mean flopped as in got to the bigs and sucked or flopped as in was on the cusp in the system and got injured, but I was a big fan of Kris Honel back in the day. Shame what happened to him. Still think he would've been a damn good pitcher for us. I liked BA alot too, though more as in following him in an AAP, not as in actual man crush. So other than Reed, it was Honel.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) I know. Not much of a revelation. But I'm talkin' 09 Mauer type s***. He won't hit .350. Other than that, he's on the cusp. And with his defense being where it's at now? You''re talkin' one potentially special player. I would hope so. Dude was a top 5 pick just 4 years ago (should of been top 3), was very highly touted comming out of Georgia Tech (scouts compared him to Joe Mauer with power) destroyed minor league pitching, and so far, hasn't been that great in the bigs like he is capable of. He still has time though and yes.. I still follow up on him since I was a big fan of his.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) I hate working night shift. Off to bed I go then.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) I definitely have to disagree. He just seems like a child, grabbing all of the attention that he can. I certainly don't think he's made anybody look like a fool. Hmmm... perhaps my "slang" of fool wasn't caught on in this case. (though I'm shocked not by Milk and Sqwert who are pretty cool dudes here) Word to yo momma. Ah well, thank god for J4L and Row I guess.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:56 AM) But that one was oh, so sweet. Does anyone else think it would be cool if Rivera got just one more save this season and retired so that he and Hoffman would be tied? I respect both highly and it would just be the coolest ending to me. Personally, I want Mariano to not only break it, but destroy it. Love Hoffman, but Mariano is the best and will permanently put an end to those homer Padre fans who was really the best closer to ever do it. (since the saves record is their only argument they got left and also no disrespect to Eck who is another one) I can still see Mariano pitching for another 2-3 years (possibly more) IF he wanted to. 41 years old and still putting up a 0.93 WHIP.. amazing. (then again.. Hoffman put up a 0.90 WHIP at the same age which was his lowest since like 1998 which is even more ridiculous)
-
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) What? You heard me fool. I'm actually pretty shocked a guy with only 22 posts has this much of a history with what was said about him.

Add 2 more walks from last nights game for Morel. September numbers in 49 PA: .316/.447/.763/1.210 (5 HRs, 10 RBIs, 9 BBs.. all the highest of any month already)
