QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:04 PM) Redick really going to be starting at the 2? I didn't mind the Korver signing, but having both of those guys doesn't interest me. I would much prefer Brewer as well but he did get better at defending last season. J.J. is like an inch taller (maybe add half with it), worse defender, better shooting version of Kirk Hinrich. Rose might be averaging 10 assist a game at this rate. In 22 minutes he averaged about 10-2-2. I was sick of seeing Deng, Hinrich, even Rose miss critical free throws down the stretch in games, so these signings eases the mind. Top 5 team in FT shooting for sure IMO.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) Bulls loaded the offer sheet with upfront money. Might be hard for Orlando to match. Very nice then. Though I see on realgm it's 20 mil not 18. Man NJ is gonna get Morrow for alot less, but more efficient. Though there are things J.J. does better as well so in some ways (had the highest True Shooting % of any SG) so it's moot. Our FT shooting might be one of the best in the league adding Korver and Redick. i do like him comming off of Stan's system when he was in the dog house for not defending (got better at it) so I'm sure he'll improve some.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) Bulls dropped an offer sheet on Redick. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) 3 years, 18 million O snap! But damn Thibs is gonna have some work to do if Reddick is signed. (though I think Orlando will match)

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) Yeah because the Marlins want some terrible, mid 30's reliever? Give me a break. They're looking for good, young, cheap talent and that's exactly what Jor. Danks, Retherford, Morel and Marquez are. Danks is a toolsy outfielder who at the very bare minimum is a good national league 4th outfielder thanks to his speed and defense and thanks to his athleticism and pedigree he has some very nice upside. Retherford is a very versatile, grindy ballplayer who reminds me of Craig Counsell and I'm sure the Marlins would love to have that guy back only 15 years younger, well that's what CJ is. Morel is an excellent defensive 3B with a great eye, very good contact numbers and should develop some power, if he reaches his full potential he's a borderline all-star 3B, something the Marlins could use. Jeff Marquez is a left handed starter who could easily work out of the pen as a long man or a good lefty MR. Talented left handed pitching is hard to find and that's what we have here. There's no good reason why they wouldn't do this deal, they can't afford Johnson long term. That's a certainty and they should strike while the iron is hot: he's on a roll right now but that won't last forever, they should get the best package of young talent they can before he reverts back to his normal self. Trust me, they'd bite. Marquez is right-handed, but I love this post. Complete 180 from the hating post lately. Nicely done.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) Totally disagree on Kwame. He's strong as f*** and an athletic freak. Post defense has always been his one legitimate strength. And I see no reason why he can't grab 6-7 RPG for 20-24 minutes a night. They don't need a thing from him on offense. Ya good point. I always hated his game so I did ignore his stats, and surprisingly for a guy with little hands he is a solid rebounder due to his size.

Charlotte 16-8 since mid June. Got their record to .500 for the first time this season. Nice outing for Upchurch. Wilkins 3-5, 2B, 2 R, K in first start. Ryan Hamme 3-5, 2B, R, RBI, K in second game for Kanny.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) But it looks A LOT less like garbage when pairing them with those three. I in particular think Bell and Kwame would be outstanding signings. Agreed on Bell. No on Kwame, though I guess they could use a "big body" regardless if his hands are too small to catch a ball in the post or rebound, poor defender and whose basketball I.Q. makes Drew Gooden wanna blush. I would love the Q-Rich re-sign for them if true. He has a tendency to kick our ass cause of the ties.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:10 PM) damn! he is a good signing, very good shooter, but for that type of money, the heat got mike miller. Korver is a good shooter, but pretty much one dimensional while miller can pass and rebound. I hope he won't be the starting SG for us next season, he and rose will get smoked on defense. Nice way to throw away the $20 Mil cap space we have, I really expect him to be a $3mil guy. He could have very easily held out and got about 20-30 mil, especially with how teams have been throwing around money lately. (have you seen the other FA signings?) We don't need him to rebound. Boozer and Noah both average 10+ you got Rose who can get 4, hopefully 5, and Deng is about 7-8 and your not even counting Gibson.

QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) don't know if this was reported but kyle korver to the bulls....3 yr 15 million Outstanding signing at 5 mil per. Dude can fill it up from deep. We are quickly becomming the Utah Bulls.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Rangers did a great job of holding on to Perez, Salty (good trade chip), Sheppers That is the name that popped into my head first before Perez though I don't remember if he was drafted in 09 or 08. Big fan of Scheppers.

Quentin.

Add Smoak to the list they will regret trading later for the Rangers, but they are going for it, and I admire that.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) I was talking Kobe/Lebron. Kobe puts the fear of god into my ass whenever he shoots a game-winner. I don't get anywhere near the same feeling when Lebron takes a game-winner. LeBron more often than not would rather pass it. I've seen more than enough games seeing him kick it out to Mo Williams/Jamario Moon/etc.. (even if they are open for a few seconds) for a three. Kobe never does that unless he is getting triple teamed (not doubled), and you'll see a guy like Fisher, maybe Gasol shooting the rock. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) Vinny "play calling" BG was the worst ending to games of all-time, and I swear it happened like 15 times. Now he'll get to do it again with Eric Gordon!!! (or most likely Baron Davis)
-
You got Schenider (VAN) and Bernier (LAK) available if Stan wanted to explore a younger goalie.. (maybe a spect for spect kind of deal) there was a highly respect poster of HF/blackhawks boards that said Hannu Toivonen has higher potential than Niemi does too. (if he gets his head on straight) No doubt though you match that offer for Hammer.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) I don't get it? Oil spill maybe... just guessing.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) Well, I think J4L was talking pre missing a finger/worst game 7 imaginable Kobe. His finger will never be the same again.. though I'm sure he'll do that anytime to win a title which he did. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) It helps that after he bricks it Gasol and Artest are there to put it back in. At least he took the shot rather than kicking it out to Mo Williams/Jamario Moon for a 3 pointer.

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:10 AM) Maybe Boozer can recruit Brewer. What you don't want Corey? BTW, LeBron just tweeted.... ugh.

Actually now that I think about it, Morrow might not be matched, though this is GS. Totally forgot they traded and signed David Lee for 80 million.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:49 AM) He hit like 48% of his 3's last year. But if you're going to talk about people who do nothing but jack up shots........ Well Don Nelson's system isn't actually disciplined in that department. You, fathom and I have mentioned Morrow before. Problem with him is he is just a good 3 point shooter. He's average athletically, and when he gets to the rim he has Luol Deng issues on finishing strong. (cept that one time he actually dunked the ball like a man) Your right on the tendency to chuckle shots though, so hopefully Thibs can get through to him. Bulls probably have to overpay to get him as well though (Warriors likely to match even with all of their guards and they traded away the kid with good potential to the Knicks) Same with Redick. One of them though I would love to see the Bulls get to snipe off the bench. (or Korver) I would LOVE Morrow as a best case.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:42 AM) Like I've been saying, chances are you're not going to find a stud SG who is good on both ends of the court, so you have to make do. Thats why I liked the idea of Morrow and Brewer splitting time. Richardson is as close as it gets. Decent offensively, adequate defensively. Also a willing passer and is a much more consistant 3 point shooter.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:39 AM) Michael Redd makes Ben Gordon look like prime Gary Payton defensively. No thanks. Thats an understatement. He is awful. In fact.. Thibs wanted an unselfish team. Deng has his selfish issues, but Redd wants his shots... and will get his.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:37 AM) As long as Redd is healthy, either of those would be absolutely perfect fits. Give me J-Rich anyday if I had to choose. Boozer and Rose are enough for guys who suck at defense (though I think Rose can and will improve). Redd is on another level of suck despite him chuckling a ton of shots and making them at a decent rate.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 01:35 AM) All bets are off after last night's debacle. Ya I can definitely see Shaq comming back to South Beach. He loved it down there. He can also continue sleeping with woman without cheating on his ex-wife anymore.

Whats with all the Iguodala talk? Is he on the block that I'm not aware of? I thought the 76ers were putting him at SF.

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:22 AM) By the way, I love Noah's reaction to the news of LBJ going to Miami. Joakim is the antithesis of LeBron -- he digs in with his guys and f***ing battles. I love that. I hope he is named captain for that locker room. No disrespect to Kirk (can't believe I'm saying that since I hate the guy's game) but Noah is a much better leader for this team. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 12:11 AM) I can respect all the Bulls enthusiasm. But I just can't get excited knowing that ultimately there's a team in our conference that will be as close to unbeatable as any team in the modern era. I still think the Lakers can and will beat them with their depth, but if they sign Shaq along with other serviceable NBA players at the MLE... ya... they are scary to pair with LeBron-Wade-Bosh and even the sniper Miller.
