  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 10:33 PM) He's got some value in a utlity role like your proposing, assuming you have several right-handed hitters at the corners, just not enough to warrent his contract. Unfortunately, I'm worried Kenny will peg him as a regular. I actually like him used more than just utility, but I think he should play less 3B and more DH with his bat, though I don't know about Quentin too. (mostly cause his defense in RF hasn't been very good also) I like Teahen, and think he gets a bad rap at times... reminds me of the Swisher hate actually.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) Eh, I wouldn't go posting pictures of people on the site. Apparently you missed the pictures of yourself (sometimes with friends/family) thread a while back here. I still remember who other people here look like as I'm sure others do as well. (some I've met personally here in Chicago)
  3. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 11:17 PM) He may be on the team because of his salary but that doesn't mean he has to be on the field. So your saying DH work with the occasional 3B every now and then? Works for me.
  4. QUOTE (CSF @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Jon Gilmore won the Carolina/California League HR Derby: Paging Jeff... I said it before.. I LOVE that they have Nunez back in the bull-pen. De Aza has been amazing for Charlotte since he's been back. They have had a sox-like win streak themselves. (won 6 of their last 7, and 5 in a row)
  5. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 10:36 PM) try 3 games Damn that much from the Tigers? Well I guess that is kinda good seeing we can catch them and the Twins in the same week if it comes to that.
  6. I would like to add that prior to the first couple of innings, I saw the entire game. (yes even the 5 run inning)
  7. How far are we from the Tigers? 1 or 1.5 game(s)? I want to pay attention to them first to jump over before I think about the Twins.
  8. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) Viciedo also sucked balls last season. Agreed that he's looked nice over this very small sample size, but there's still little evidence that he's ready for the bigs. Numerous Sox prospects have raked for several years in the minors/college and have struggled big-time in Chicago. Throw Viciedo's age and your assesment that he won't hit RHP effectively into the equation and I see little reason to bring him up right now. Let him have a sustained year of success first. Given that he's unlikely to help this hapless team this year, his development should be paramount. That said, letting him face major-league pitching when the rosters expand later in the year might not be a bad idea. You are way all over the place with this post, with alot of hyperbole mixed into it. "sucked last season" "very small sample size" "little evidence?" I will agree with the last sentence that I also see no reason to rush him up and the full year in AAA might have helped, etc.. but if Buddy Bell and the sox org. think he is ready (especially against LHP which is alot of evidence in both AA and AAA he is ready for them) then I trust their judgment (I didn't think Beckham was ready last year despite hitting like .290 especially with limited PA in the minors but he was impressive though this year is another story [i'm sure people will blame whoever for that]).
  9. Braves when scoring five or more runs won 42 straight prior to tonight. That streak ends for them. Offense is really comming on. I did say if they take 2/3 from Atlanta I will "keep my eye on" much more on this team.
  10. Congrats Huddy!!! :headbang
  11. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) Are Viciedo's splits vs. RHP and LHP that drastic of a difference? I'd look myself but I'm not sure where to find ml splits LHP: .364/.426/.800/1.226 4/11 BB:SO ratio (55 ABs) RHP: .268/.298/.443/.741 4/41 BB:SO ratio (183 ABs)
  12. Hmmm.... seems the Pacers would trade their #10 pick for a PG (want defense, high I.Q.) and also would like to move down in the draft as the guy they are targeting is projected to be much lower. If I'm the Bulls, that might be the perfect match to trade Hinrich to (+ the 17th pick if need be), and I believe Bird likes Hinrich alot. This would allow the Bulls to draft Henry/George. (Anderson I'm falling out of favor of) Rose needs a tall SG to play off of, not to mention gives him more touches with the basketball without another short PG playing SG.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 02:21 PM) I'll be there for a Soxtalkers wedding (Shipps). I'll be in Miami for 2 days and than Orlando for 3 days. October 10th, 11th, and part of the 12th. I think we are going to do Disneyland on the 10th and than haven't decided between Sea world (my wife took a lot of oceanography classes and absolutely loves sea world out here and marine animals in general), Universal or whatever for the 11th. We'll probably lounge on the 12th at the hotel pool. Let me know, drinks would be great. TAKE ACE WITH YOU!!!
  14. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 01:19 PM) So you're saying there's been worse? :notworthy
  15. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) I believe 100% that there is SOMEONE in our minor league system that can do what he's doing, or better. And I say that knowing almost nothing about our farm system. There's just no way someone couldn't come up and do even a little better. I think some advocated Torres (who is too good for AAA now) or Hudson for months now, especially when it has been Pena picking up the loose change of innings when our starters have struggled. To be fair though, nobody knew our rotation would struggle this much, but management should of made a move much sooner then expected too.
  16. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) Pierre LF Vizquel 3B Rios CF Konerko 1B Quentin RF Kotsay DH Pierzynski C Ramirez SS Beckham 2B Danks P I know I've missed a few sox games recently, but Kotsay is NOT batting 5th?! Praise Jesus.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 12:25 PM) 6th worst ever in a 110 year sample size. My lord why the f*** is he here?! Someone answer that please. I think chw put it best.. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) It's because Ozzie loves to play bullpen matchups. Thing is.. Williams hasn't even been asked much to do just LOOGY work with Ozzie. I feel like I've said this about 1000 times, that was my main beef with KW the entire off-season is not finding that solid second lefty to pair with Thornton, especially cause Ozzie likes said match-ups. I just hate micro-managing.
  18. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) Since I have already excluded myself from Whitesox dreams I cant watch anymore because that would be shipp jumping. They have been doing well without me quite frankly so I dont want to ruin their success and get into following every game again. Still not a team I am dying to watch...sorry just saying. I'm stuck as well, I do want to watch tonight though, but they are 3-0 in this stretch when I didn't watch. I'll just watch and if they lose, I'll take the blame for it.
  19. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jun 22, 2010 -> 09:43 AM) Ozzie gets credit for those? Really? It was just plain ignorant to sit both Paulie and Alex on the same day when you're already running without a DH. Ozzie gets credit for having Peavy on the bump to bail his sorry ass lineup out after they scored 1 freaking run. He gets credit for putting a former closer in to close out a game in which his regular close was unavailable? Peavy was at what, like 90 pitches heading to the 9th...why wouldn't he stay in and, even if he didn't, we've got a pretty good bullpen. I hate to be an OG hater, but I think he's pretty much had nothing to do with this streak, nor has KW....this is all on the players starting to perform. The past few "sporadic" weeks man, your post have been a pleasure to see. Post more.
  20. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 09:10 PM) I'm on a site FULL of men There are a couple of other posters that post here that are female as well (Soxy, Melissa just to name a couple) and few in the past, so your not the only one. But yes about 95% of the posters here are male.
  21. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) Taking the family to Alaska for two weeks. Grandmother just came back yesterday from there. Got me a shirt, and has not stopped talking about the trip. She had a blast.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) He's the youngest hitter on the team. Not much of a lineup around him though. I would put " " on youngest.
  23. QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Jun 21, 2010 -> 06:51 PM) Phegley is in Bristol. He's there to get some AB's in. Supposed to be there for a week, looks like he'll be catching 3 diff games ..5 innings then 7 innings then he will catch a full 9 inning game. When he's not catching he's supposed to be in as DH. I can't tell you how much many of us appreciate the updates from you (and Chase). Much thanks Bren!
