White Sox vs Buddy Bell's Royals 06/20/05

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Seriously, I think there are people here that wanted him to give up a bomb just so they could say that they were right and Shingo sucks and Ozzie sucks, and blah blah blah, etc. etc. etc. Some of the biggest reactionaries I've ever seen. Careful what you say around here. Nobody likes a conservative. -

Probably a good time to get him in. Game kinda on the line - get him involved with the team , but even if he gives up a long one, we are still winning. Then it's Hermy time. -

Re Sox win. -
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) Pierzynski is really struggling. They mentioned he's a .294 career hitter, he's sitting at .250 right now. He's not taken a lot of criticism here but he needs to pick it up. To be sure. But I'm not too worried. It seems to me he is in one of those stretches where he has had an unfair amount of hang-wiff-ems.

Top of the 8th in the Twinkie dome. Pads cling to a 1 run lead.
-
The Twins just had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 5th, with nobody out and they did not score.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) dodger ex yankee broadcaster keeps talkin about how the whitesox have that national league look and feel to the team...what is this talk all about? i mean they are just playing baseball the way it is supposed to be played. another bumbling idiot NL announcer! never cared for him in NY and now what a jack. his color is saying that it is better to try to get a hit with a runner on second and no outs than shoot it to the right side and advance the runner...boneheads! The first half of that statement makes sense to me. Putting a premium on moving runners. Stealing. Hit and run, instead of the American league stereotype, station to station, lumbering wall bangers. And it's 4-3 Pads.

Padres looking good against Silva. 3-3, with the lead run on 3rd and nobody out.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) I've seen worse on web gems. I seriously have...and that was bad. It would be nice to see someone punch Harold Reynolds in the face, or John Kruk, or Peter Gammons. I would be partial to seeing Joe Morgan receive a three stooges double finger poke to the eye sockets. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) That was the most unneeded dive of all time. Farmer theorized that he was fighting the lights. -

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) I just logged on and at MLB GameDay it's stuck with a ball one count on Tadpole Iguchi. I take it it we are still motivating though? Gooch on 3rd, Frank on 1st, 2 out and Paulie up. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) This might be the most Clayton has contributed to a possible Sox win ever. Without question. Good one. -

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 09:42 PM) They ARE NOT trying to pull everything, despite what this board thinks. The whole issue is nowhere near as simple as you guys try to make it, maybe when it's a slower day I will make a valiant but futile attempt to explain to you guys they aren't blindly trying to pull everything. I follow most of the games blind, via the radio, and I can easily tell that what you are saying is the truth. I, too, am tired of this old song. -

Don't know if this means anything, but aren't these scores reminiscent of the last couple of years in spring training, whenever we meet these guys? Seems to me they always kicked the crap out of us. :headshake -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) HE doesn't. Our hitters just make it look like he does. Of the 14 hitters he has faced, I think only 2 of them have offered at the first pitch, so they are giving him a chance to fall behind. He has shown good control, though, as he has thrown 36 strikes and 16 balls so far. So far he has pitched better than his record would indicate, as have all of their starters. They seem to be hot - it happnes. -
Congratulations DBAHO. Always a pleasure reading your thoughts. And now salutations from Bruce: 'This here's the wattle, the emblem of our land. You can stick it in a bottle, you can hold it in your hand.' Oi Oi Oi

QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) twins go up Only a tie for the moment. Ray-Ray made an error.
-
QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) Shouldn't be too much longer. He is only 16 pitches short of 100 at the moment. It only took 7 pitches to give up 3 runs. :headshake

QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) they will quickly need to decide how long they will go with El Duque tonight. We cannot continue to dig ourselves in a hole. Shouldn't be too much longer. He is only 16 pitches short of 100 at the moment.

I guess Paulie can still go the other way. Eh.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) I heard he was gonna talk during the broadcast. Did he have anything of interest to say? DJ usually sucks conducting interviews, so was it just the same old, same old? I caught just a few seconds of it, but I am pretty sure he said he does not throw in the 90s.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) We had dinner with a scout last night and he had great things to say about him as well. One thing specifically he did say was that his change-up was "very sneaky" out of his glove. I remember my Dad throwing me a very sneaky changeup out of his glove. It was like a hidden ball trick. He went into this big windup and a split second after nothing came out of his hand, he would flick the ball out of his glove. It certainly gave me pause, but I doubt it would work at the major league level.
