  1. Slam Indians and the last 5 Twins have reached base to take a 10-8 lead. :puke
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 28 @ 2005 -> 08:32 PM) Great, I turn the game on in time to see Hermanson blow another save. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 28 @ 2005 -> 08:34 PM) 1 out. I still think they will tie this one up. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 28 @ 2005 -> 08:35 PM) we need a miracle almost QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) Sorry, but thats bulls*** by Sox fans. Negative, reactive, imprudent, knee-jerk like and predictable. That's Soxtalk during those Chicken Little moments.
  3. Holy crap what a finish. I don't know if I feel better for the team in general or for Buerhle in particular. Attaboy Hermie!
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 11:30 AM) If we're gonna give up B-Mac and one of our top two OF'ers (Sweeney or Anderson), we might as well be looking at getting Chavez from the A's rather than Burnett. An everyday position player is going to help this team (in the long run) a whole lot more than a guy who pitches every fifth day. Not trying to take anything away from Burnett, but if you're giving up two of your top prospects, go the extra mile and do what it takes to get Chavez. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) It depends who the man is that is pitching every fifth day. In your head it doesn't make sense that someone who plays 30 games could contribute as much as someone who plays five times that amount, but I think they can. For example, if we were to land Schmidt somehow, his value to this team might be greater than that of Chavez. They both had 19 win shares in 2004. But a quality pitcher might be a greater upgrade over injured Duque/swingman/? than Chavez would be over Crede. I am in agreement with 3E8 on this one. In fact if I was running a team, I would be thrilled to say that the 5 best players on my team were my starting 5. If the Sox were able to land Schmidt, I would rank the Sox as serious a contender as anyone. I am not sure I feel that way about them now. And this is a credit to how they have played so far this season. I think they have been playing with 'an attititude', thanks largerly to Ozzie and even Kenny (he made the changes).
  5. Best thing about this win, for me, was Freddie. Lots of movement. Lots of velocity ( I saw 96 on one fastball) and great command. Nobody would have enjoyed facing him today.
  6. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) I never got to go there Me either. So I had part of it shipped to my house - an old Comiskey seat.
  7. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Big whoop. This team has won absolutely nothing. The 1983 team was up 20 games at one point. The 2001 Mariners were around that too. The 2000 White Sox were in the lower single-digits consistently. They faded without winning a playoff game. The 2003 Royals were up 7.5 at the All-Star Game, 8.5 over the team that won the division that year. Where are the 2003 World Series flags at Kauffman? We must never, ever lose sight of reality, folks. This team has yet to win anything, this team is still vulnerable. This team can still improve, and I hope that Kenny isn't among those who is drunk with joy over our recent win streak. It sure sounds like Ozzie isn't. That said, it could be worse. Far worse. There's nothing wrong with celebrating that. But let's not go overboard. Close to 100 years of not pulling it off certainly should give rise to caution. And when you look at Kenny, you don't see someone who is drunk with joy. He looks far too serious. Like he is contemplating what could upset the applecart. Me likey. I really don't think they are this much better, talent-wise than the rest of the Central. But we do seem to have an attitude. With that thought in mind, I give the highest marks to Ozzie and Kenny. And whether or not we get too drunk on euphoria, I don't worry about Kenny and Oz.
  8. Cleveland loses and the Twinkies about to join them. So far in this thread the Twins defense and offense have been mentioned as their achilles heel. So I think I'll make it a trifecta. It seems to me their bullpen is being overtaxed by a starting rotation that does not go deep enough. Last night Lohse and tonight Mays. It seems everytime you look up, they are into their 4th or 5th or 6th pitcher. They have a great bullpen and their manager uses them with great thought and care, but I think we are starting to see them wear down a bit and there is a long way to go. Lookin' good. Lookin' very good.
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21 @ 2005 -> 09:15 PM) You have to look at ERA, WHIP, strength of schedule, run support and team success. Wins and strikeouts are extremely overrated these types of situations. Garland is the favorite right now simply because of his wins and the national attention he is getting. Based on performance thus far Buehrle is a better choice than Garland. Halladay should start the All-Star game as of this moment. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) You hit it on the nose, I agree 100 percent with everything you said. Agreed. Personally, I would like to remain under the radar. We don't need to have the starter. We just need to whup ass - as an overall team. And that is what we are doing this year. Under Ozzie's leadership, we are winning as a team. The Sox remind me a bit of the Montreal Canadian hockey teams of the past. Other teams might have a better superstar or two, but as unit - look out!!!
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Minny game over yet? All over. They are crying in garbage bagville.
  11. And it was nice that this was not some kind of sloppy win over a struggling team. Jon had great stuff and the fielding was excellent. Bodes well.
  12. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) I hope 2005 is the most boring season based on that! Starting to have that 1993 feel.
  13. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) Frank will probably be watching the finale. Tough call for Ozzie. You don't want guys to think one bad outing and they will be grabbing some bench, but with Carl needing ABs . . . J.P. Howell is a lefty and Carl is getting his cuts tonight. I'd rest Frank on Thursday with the rest of them.
  14. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) Sisco could get sent back to the Cubs. That's just plain cruel.
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) Haha, Teahen. Na na na na na na, youuuu blew it. According to what Farmer said earlier, it looks good on him. He showed up Jon when he drew a walk.
  16. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) Psst. It's Greinke. HE GAWN. Sisco in. Psst. Lohse too. And now it's 6-1 Tiggers.
  17. Lohse is over 100 pitches in the 5th. Seems to me their bullpen, which of course is very good, is getting too much work. If we start really pulling away on them, I think it will be because of their bullpen's wear and tear..
  18. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) Jon seems to be dealing.... Twinkies down 3-1 to Tiggers Injuns down 6-0 to Bo Sox Go White Sox.....time to pad the lead Jon could go the distance here 5-1 for the Tigers now.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) Exactly why i said several. Anyway... Lima's wife. Christ, Lima doesn't have half that kind of movement on any of his pitches.
  20. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) I want to thank those that realized things were getting out of hand and decided to just stop when I asked you too. To those that keep on keeping on, that will come to a stop one way or the other. Sober second thought usually comes with experience. (Easy for me to say after 6 pints). Congrats on the 15 K, YASNY.
  21. QUOTE(ReinsdorfSucks @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) it's more of a cop out than anything else. the "we're still #1" rah-rah stuff is good to a certain degree and only is about short term thinkin and not long term thinking. The season is long and there are peaks and valleys for all players and teams. In many ways the reverse is true. Often they only look bad in the short term. Overall (the long term) what can we say? How about "way to go Sox". Over and over.
  22. QUOTE(brijames @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Here is a little advice to all of you from a 30+ years White Sox fan. Relax and enjoy this team! We have the best friggen record in all of BB. Yes the Chicago White Sox! Enjoy this ride and don't get all worked up over the few weaknesses this team has. Every team has weaknesses. Enjoy every game and the never say die attitude this group has. It isn't often we have a season like this to enjoy. Don't get caught up in being negative when things go bad. A lot more has gone good than bad and for as upset as some of you have let yourself get tonight it looks like were still gonna win this game ! Keep it coming.
