QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Pudge goes yard, 7 to 5. No problem Cliff, just get 2 more. Speaking of yard work, Tejada just went deep with 2 out in the 11th, for an Oriole lead.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) You ass, I thought the game was over after I saw that at first. Me no spell too good tonight - should have been "Torii Hunter just struck out, for the third out in the 10th, with the winning run on second. Sorry about that - I'll go back to reading and drinking.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Does the manager send the change to the UMP before the PA? or does Carl just stroll into the batters box and wait for the PA? The Ump has to be informed and Ozzie is the one to do it. The PA has nothing to do with it.

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) Ok, gotta question. I thought I knew a lot about baseball, but for whatever reason, I drew a blank on this one. So, Crede is up, and Carl Everett comes out to the on-deck circle to pinch hit for Uribe. So what happens after Crede hits the homerun? Uribe comes back out to hit. Can you really do that? I know, this must sound like a stupid question to most of you, but I just don't remember seeing that happen. Carl is not in the game at that moment. He is simply on deck. If the home run is not hit, Carl would have been announced as the pinch hitter and it would have been official.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) is duke starting to settle into a nicer groove? Sounds like he is pitching pretty good. Douglass sounds like he is going to be difficult. He struck out Dye on a pitch that dropped so violently that Farmer said they should check the ball.

QUOTE(hi8is @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) wtf is goin on fellas? Bottom of the 2nd, one out , nobody on and Dye up. 1-0 bad guys.

As much as baseball is statistics oriented, statistics alone cannot translate the value of Podsednik and his relentless pressure on the opposition's pitching and defense. He is a huge part of our teams's remarkable success. When statistics were examined the last 3 year's, did it make any sense that we came up so short against the Twins? If the American league is in a one run game, look no further than Scotty Po to be the difference maker. As with our team, he will be a huge bullet in the American league's holster.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Who was the last home grown prospect that panned out as a pitcher? Was it Buerhle? No - he wasn't much of a prospect.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Coppeck ran into a Sox BOD member that said the Sox are gonna get Schmidt. Then he talked to an exec at Walgreens and they said he can't tell anything but he's on the right track with Schmidt. He also bashed WSCR for saying that he was lying. I'm not sure if I heard it right, but it sounded like WSCR has something personal against him and were 'dissing' him as a result.

QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Jun 30 @ 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Thank you for not making that green as you threatened earlier. Somehow the appreciated dryness would be ruined with the colour change. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) Haha, I already forgot I said that. Doesn't surprise me that you forgot. You're a natural to the point of not thinking about it. If there was a list of posters 'excluded from using green', you'd be the 1st member. I still get a laugh out of the 'well that sucks' comment from a couple of weeks ago. I'm thinking it was the 10 run inning. -

How many unbelievable wins is that now? It just goes on and on. I'll go out on a limb here and say with the 13 innings, this board broke the season record for negative, reactive, unfair comments aimed at the players and coaches. I understand that if there wasn't a tremendous amount of passion for the team, then the player and coach bashing would not occur, but I think it is time that people stop crapping all over these guys. How many rabbits are they gonnas have to pull out before they are given a break? This might be the most special team assembled in decades. Try, for the love of God to at lest cut down on the bashing. -

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 29 @ 2005 -> 09:51 AM) Isn't the whole point of trading for Schmidt so that Schmidt can replace El Duque/McCarthy in the rotation? Doing this really doesn't affect this, right? QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Yep, I don't think people are understanding this. :headshake I think the main reason for picking up Schmidt is to improve the starting pitching staff, with a strong vision of the playoffs. Playoff starters - Buehrle, Garcia, Garland and Schmidt, not necessarily in that order. If you have to give up Contreras, so be it. With the improvement of Schmidt over Contreras, Kenny probably would feel that a 5th starter combination of El Duque and McCarthy will be enough to get them to the playoffs.
