  1. QUOTE (Brian @ May 7, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) Finally a good Flash Forward episode last night. Really dug the course correction stuff. I though it was ok. not as good as the previous 2 in my opinion. But still good.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 11:12 AM) I know, I'm being sarcastic in blaming GS. But seriously...why would they have gotten rid of those curbs in 2007? Were they convinced the market would never go down again? With the way computers have evolved since 1987 and the amount of people and money now in that system, I'd think they'd be even more important to avoid panicked automated selling. I blame Obama
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) Yeah, the President only has so much impact on job numbers. Still, after a legitimately positive month...this graph looks even better. Obama just bookmarked that graph for 2012
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) Remember that high-frequency trading scam I was whining about earlier this year, where GS was making money by having its servers closer to the NYSE so it could make money by seeing other trades coming and adjusting the price beforehand? It sounds like those trades are coming into the crosshairs after yesterday. Mark my words, there will be some regulation put in place to slow the rate at which computers can make trades.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 7, 2010 -> 08:14 AM) People jumping back into the job market now, since its improving. This will be the theme for a while I think - net job addition, but steady UE rates. When I first saw the numbers that there were tons of new jobs, but UE went up I thought "huh?". BUt then I saw on HUffPo: "As More Head Back Into Hunt For Work". That makes sense.
  6. Here's a thought experiment for Mr. Sandoval: Let's say Chicago and the state of Illinois build the Chicago Cubs or White Sox a new $158 million (the cost of Camelback) facility on Northernly Island and one year into the deal the team says "well, we love the park, but we really are disliking the way politics have gone the last 12 months... we're gonna move to Nashville next year". How would that sit with him?
  7. Classy Move Jay: Jay Leno inspects the "facebook page" of the Times Square bomber, not the bottom of the screen capture...
  8. QUOTE (juddling @ May 5, 2010 -> 07:38 PM) When the bomb was counting down at three minutes, my first thought was couldn't they put it in a torpedo tube and flood the tube carrying the bomb out to sea???? you're assuming this is a war sub. Not all subs have torpedoes. (The thought crossed my mind too, but I assumed it was a non-military sub)
  9. It's always the most outspoken: Anti-Gay Leader Caught With Male Prostitute
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 5, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) I love me some Mo Cheeks. Any guy who rescues young girls during botched National Anthems is good for me. For those who dont remember:
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 5, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) -Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. oh like any adulterous relationship, they'll find an excuse.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 5, 2010 -> 12:45 PM) The Lt. Gov. of Ohio is responsible for the world-wide economic meltdown! This makes my brain hurt. Not only that, they took a picture of him shirtless at home then "maasked" it to look like he was getting a BJ.
  13. Talk about completely sleazy: The GOP like to think of itself as the "morals" party, right? How does running an ad like this work out for them?
  14. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 4, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) Calipari is just using the Bulls job as leverage for an even higher salary at Kentucky. Image the recruits he can buy when he gets a raise above his 4M current status. But he doesnt buy recruits
  15. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 5, 2010 -> 11:32 AM) http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0510/36783.html I NEVER like it when they say a companies "employees" donated money to a political candidate (inferring they were trying to buy political influence). What does that mean? To me, it means everyone from top execs to the out of college "office assistant" (secretary) making $25,000 a year. "$638,000 came from individuals". How many individuals? Was it only the top execs maxing out their donation limits? Or, was it a colection of THOUSANDS of small donations? BP is a huge company with a lot of people working for it. Saying a companies employees donated money is a non-starter with me. To make me an example of this, just because I donated $xxxx to Obama doesn't mean my company is trying to buy his support on an issue. It only mean I like him.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 5, 2010 -> 09:28 AM) This Lost related tweet made me chuckle: COMPLETELY not PC, but yea, I laughed.

    Moving

QUOTE (beckham15 @ May 4, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) So I've never lived in chicago or the suburbs, made trips all the time but thats about it....anyways im getting ready to move that way here soon and was wondering if any of you guys would give me some advice on where to look for a place. as far as like what areas are good and what is not so good. Any advice would be great. Thanks! 1) Where (location wise) will you be working? 2) What is your desired commute time? 3) Do you have a price range? 4) Do you prefer a house, a townhome, or a condo?
  18. QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 4, 2010 -> 10:21 PM) The answer is out there if you want to see it. It's so tough to choose between spoilers and waiting to see with no knowledge of what happens. Next week should be really interesting. The only proof of my belief is that But, I will not actively seek out the answer. i want next week to blow my mind.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ May 4, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) From what I read about next week.. , but I am probably wrong.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 4, 2010 -> 04:09 PM) Well, we'll see when it's all said and done, since your as wrong/right as I am in this. Fact is, NO ONE knows. LeBron might not even know yet.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 4, 2010 -> 03:56 PM) I actually disagree. But we don't know him. Something tells me he would stay there until he brings his hometown a championship. If he wins it this year, I think he bolts for New York (since he "did his job" in Cleveland) and helps his favorite childhood team end a 50 year title drought there unless his ego wants to overshadow/overtake MJ for the challenge. (though I don't think his balls are as big as Kobes in that regard) Thats just my opinion though. I think if he wins a title this year he absolutely stays. At the least if team looses he has an out by saying "I want to go to a place where I have a better chance of winning"
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 4, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) If he was realistic he would stop listing the Clippers. Lebron isnt going to share the stage with Kobe, much less have to deal with the worst owner in the history of the NBA I posted something on BullsTalk about this a while back I think, let me see if I can find what i said.... nope, thread is gone. Basically my point was LeBron has a few LEGIT options: Stay in Cleveland: They've been CLOSE enough to warrant staying Nets: No way, they just plain stink NY: Real option, with great marketing potential, but not a lot or surrounding talent Clippers: They are out for two reasons: Kobe, and dude... it's the Clippers! Miami: A real option, but I think they want Bosh to team with DWade... not that LeBron would be a bad second option Chicago: Quality supporting players in Rose, Noah, and Dang So, I have his real options down to Cleveland, Chicago, and NY. Staying in Cleveland he can get a 6 year max deal, but only 5 years with Chicago and NY. HOWEVER, he can make up the contract $$$ difference in endorsements in Chicago and NY. So, really, all three are equal money. At that points, it's about the big cities or home town loyalty.
