  1. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) I have been a White Sox fan for 30 years but trading for Vazquez was one of the worst I have ever seen, and believe me I have seen some bad ones over the years. How's that?
  2. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) He sucks vs lefties and can't play D. Isn't he hitting lefties well this year???
  3. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) A nice shot in the butt wouldnt hurt... No steroid innuendos...
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) Punching your wife, shows a lack of character and courage. I hope KW avoids acquiring players with those deficiencies. We don't know the whole story though, maybe she didn't make dinner that night.
  5. Wait... How does Contreras not deserve an AS spot?
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 2, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) Hard to imagine that Williamson is the only one pitcher who feels this way. Actions have consequences. I'll take those consequences any day. Tracey knows what's up, so if there are guys like Williamson out there that don't have an interest to play for Ozzie or the Sox in general, better it is upfront, because we don't need them. The best talent is good to have, but I'll take ball players that want to be here, and know how to win.
  7. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) I don't understand the question. What did Ozzie have to do with anything about the comeback? He took Crede and Dye out early. If anything, he threw in the towel way before the players. You're taking your Ozzie man crush way too far. The bench is stepping up in the later part of games. Your point is taken, but I just want to note that by putting in Gload and Ozuna, he's not necessarily saying we're done. He expects to not give at bats away, no matter whose at the plate, the score, or inning.
  8. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 03:24 AM) I 100% agree that Jay is a complete ass. However you can not use the term *** when talking to the media. It makes Ozzie and the organization look bad. I just don't understand why Ozzie keeps talking about Jay. Ozzie says he does not care what Jay says about him. If Ozzie did not care he would not talk about him all of the time. I think everyone on the Sox official comment on Jay needs to be "Jay who" or "no comment" When you're asked a question a million times, it's difficult not to answer it. Especially if you have animosity towards that person, and even more especially if you're Ozzie. Can't say I blame the guy...
  9. He better be pumped about his homeruns - he's thrown out like 5 runners this year in 50 tries.
  10. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 21, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) You see, Cubs fans are calling for Dustys head for not supporting Barrett. This is the kind of quote that Dusty would have had to come up with, and that is just pathetic and sad. For once I agree with Dusty's choice in not backing up Barrett, because Rich Hill sounds like a guy who wasnt watching the game. The damn ball hit AJ in the back as he collided with Barrett. If that ball arrived one second sooner, and it could have been just a play at the plate, AJ out. Rich Hill is a moron. Not only that, but if you don't want to get hit or don't "have the ball, b****!" Why the f*** are you blocking the plate???
  11. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 20, 2006 -> 06:22 AM) p.s. The Cubs lousy announcers did bring up a good point. We can play just one guys - Thome or Konerko - in NL parks. Hope that doesn't cost us. But they'll have to sit Henry Blanco or Nefi Perez...
  12. QUOTE(TLAK @ May 14, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) I was in a friendly bar discussion with a guy who was busting me over how much I whined when KW made his moves over the winter. He tried to get me to say that last years group would not have the record that this year’s group is putting up. I said they would be about the same, the argument never ended, even while watching Javier give up his 7 earned runs in 5-1/3 innings. So this morning I looked up how the guys in the moves are doing. Offensively it looks like a wash, although to be fair Everett and Thomas probably wouldn’t have a combined 235 AB were they both still with the Sox. At a glance the pitching looks like an improvement but it boils down to 12 innings and 3 runs. So I stand on what I said, the team is not dramatically improved this year and in the years to come the White Sox may rue losing Chris Young, Gio Gonzalez and Danny Haigwood. But what about the people coming back to earth such as Garland and Politte. Surely the addition of Vazquez over Hernandez makes a huge difference. Although it's possible it appears as a wash, having the same team as last year doesn't necessarily translate to us being in the same position.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 26, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) Why would a guy who throws 100 mph all of a sudden start heavy weightlifting? Hopefully the Sox will do a better job of monitoring him next off season. So he can throw 115 mph silly.
  14. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 04:47 AM) yet, still first row Is it first row or row A?
  15. "The Tigers have the misfortune of playing in baseball's toughest division " What a difference a year makes.
  16. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 08:10 PM) Anna is hot until she opens her mouth. Then, not so much. She likes to show off the cleavage though, thats for sure. Her website is frickin hilarious, she is absolutely in love with herself and her image. www.annabenson.net edit: I just went to her site. Now she is a gun advocate with a crazy letter to "Gun haters". Seriously, some people should just stick to what they do. She happens to be the wife of a baseball player, now because she has money and time on her hands(not to mention all the attention she wants) she thinks she can spout off whatever she wants. "I have many guns (strategically placed) in my home to be used in the event of a home invasion—a crime which frequently occurs in my city." Yeah, im sure their plush New York highrise has many instances of home invasion. What's wrong with owning a gun?
  17. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) He meant game three of the first home series. It's a great idea to hold the ceremony after opening day, which is a guaranteed sell-out. Either Game 2 or Game 3 would have been ideal, since they're both mid-week afternoon games averaging 12,000. Game 2 will draw - it's the ring ceremony.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 07:14 AM) Pods will start in center... When B.A. Needs a day off. Not even then, Mack will be in CF.
  19. Right now, Borchard is probably Thome's insurance policy. It's fine to sign him to a minor league deal, but there really isn't a need for him. Ragowski is a better option IMO.
  20. QUOTE(Beltin'Bill @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) I think Barret is an asset to his team but last I heard, the love affair with Barrett was waning since he did not hit enough home runs for Cubs fans and some pitchers did not want to pitch to him. I do not necessarily agree with the negative comments his power, but it is another Mark Grace type example of how the fans will start harping on his power numbers and not recognize his overall value to the team. Didn't Ramirez end the season injured? I agree he could easily have another great season, but I also am not nearly as sold on his value to a team as I am on a guy like Derrek Lee. He seems more like the Carlos Lee type who puts up some very good numbers and plays safe defense but doesn't necessarily have the mental intangibles needed at times. Maybe I am biased because he is on the Cubs but I have never really like Ramirez' overall demeanor, even when with Pittsburgh. An important distinction between Grace and Barret, is that Grace was a strong defensive player. Mike, not so much...
  21. Don't know if this was posted, but can Preston Wilson's signing be a way for them to play him in CF, making Tavarez expendable so to say?
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 29, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) He quit last March. That's good - I saw him at Sox Fest smoking, but obviously that was in January. He has the right to do whatever, I just thought it to be foolish considering what his strengths are.
  23. I realize I am in the minority in regards to Tavarez, but he absolutely raked in the playoffs. He definitely needs to walk more, but that can come. I think he would do well under Ozzie.
  24. For sure Uribe's catch in Game 4 9th inning, for out 2.
  25. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 02:52 AM) I hope nobody gets me wrong, though. I love the idea of having possibly the best SS in baseball on the Sox. He's great defensively and offensively, and he seems like a nice guy. I just don't like the steroid talk about him. He was named as a possibility in Canseco's book, and Palmeiro pointed a finger at him. I'm sure Palmeiro did it just so he can push the blame on someone else, but I also believe he chose Tejada for a reason. And then I don't want ship off Uribe. The guy dropped Boras and signed a good deal with the Sox. He plays hard as hell, and might even be a better defender than Tejada. He almost single-handedly ended the World Series for the Sox on top of that. I don't like getting attached to players, but after this possibly scenario, the Sox have replaced a whole lot of last year's team in one offseason. I'm all for improving the team, but that just worries me a lot. It would also remove all of the depth from the rotation and take a pitcher from the bullpen. I love this trade and I dislike it at the same time. Canseco never said Tejada did steroids, he said he didn't know either way. He did accuse some people without ever witnessing them taking steriods, but Tejada was not one of them.
