Rashard Mendenhall robbed on south side of Chicago
knightni replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
2am? Alone? There's safety right there. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 5, 2008 -> 06:05 PM) The way his story goes, he says "why is that necessary, officer?", then suddenly the officer hoses him down? Come on. Its not impossible, but I consider that highly unlikely. Actual words perhaps...? "Hey! What the f***'s your problem!?!" Then, "Get your f***ing hands off me you motherf***ers!"

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 5, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) Isn't that hockey ? It's a merged sports joke.

There's gotta be at least one catcher in the bunch! OH!

Put one in the lineup, it probably knows the five hole.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 5, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) Ryan Reynolds, however, is too beautiful for any woman to have him. Thusly, they are perfect for one another. ^^^^^ He's just dreamy.

QUOTE (Linnwood @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:27 PM) Who is insulted by this? This is the oldest trick in the book: Ozzie makes a ruckus and the media focuses on him instead of the players. Ozzie is doing exactly the right thing. I'M NOT INSULTED. I am bothered by the fact that instead of fixing the problems, the Sox are allowing the manager to belittle the fan base. The same fan base that helps writes their checks.

You get a shovelful, put it in your pants, then walk around the prison yard, shaking your pantlegs.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 5, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) No, but right after thinking, I'd like to chew on a candle, I'm sure it would be just the thing. B) QUOTE (Texsox @ May 5, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) Having never chewed on a candle, I did not notice an analogy. Sometime you will have to tell us your candle chewing story Hey FlaSoxxJim, Uncle Frank and his candle say "hi!".

QUOTE (The Critic @ May 5, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) I had read somewhere that Scholz hired someone to just kind of loom in the background and help sing just the high notes, but that may well have been online bulls***. If you're doing that, you might as well hire a woman.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:23 AM) Edit: Eh, the guy you are talking about must be this "superfan" Tommy DeCarlo guy I'm seeing on the web. Wow, listening to his {Peace of Mind cover now and it's pretty dang good. Yes. Check out his myspace. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...endid=150718048

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) Jas signaled for a lefty out of the pen bvut he didn't have one warming up, so we had to close the thread. He started arguing that a ball was foul instead of fair. -
QUOTE (False Alarm @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:39 AM) that was insulting to you? are you a pretty sensitive guy? gonna stop goin to the park if ozzie says the fans are fickle one more time? i'm pretty sure ozzie's rants have no effect on business. i do think it'd be hilarious if baseball teams made their on-field and personnel decisions based on customer feedback. i wonder if they'd listen to the cat who wanted to bench quentin. I think that the offensive part of it to me is that Ozzie feels it necessary to criticize the fans at all for what is essentially the team's problem. If consumers say to Coke, "You guys really need to improve the quality of your product or I will buy from Pepsi." Certainly Coke would make changes if enough people felt that way and stopped buying their product. The White Sox are a business and we are the consumers who keep them in business. If Ozzie can't handle constructive criticism, then he is the one who is too sensitive, not me.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 25, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) Greatest voice in the history of Rock: Brad Delp. Did you see that Boston hired some guy from Home Depot to be their lead singer?

What kind of cow eats grass? A lawn mooer.

Hey, consumers who purchase our product and have complaints! Instead of using consumer complaints to improve our product like most businesses do, we're sending out our factory foreman to insult you and tell you how stupid you are! This is our way of keeping you coming back and buying our flawed product! Makes good business sense to me.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 4, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) The crowd going to Broadway productions is pretty different than your average Saturday night movie crowd. Not necessarily. I've been to see Spamalot in Chicago (off Broadway) and folks were a lot like the movie crowd. If they had an over 21 area of the theater and charged a cover charge, they could get a "better" crowd.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 4, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) there's also the fundamental disconnect between serving a lobby full of folks a few quick drinks and then expecting those folks to be quiet and respectful during the film. They do it during Broadway productions. What's the difference?

Too bad the Bears couldn't have put a morals clause in his contract.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 4, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) I rented it recently and I liked it a lot too. However, I missed the thing falling into the water in the background which I suppose was pretty important for the story. I hope the premise behind a sequel is better than Blair Witch 2. There were a lot of setup videos on youtube. They helped me a lot when I went to see it.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) This has to be the worst week of Sox baseball I've watched on TV in my life. I find myself flipping channels when the Sox are up, something I never usually do. Cheer up. The Cubs are on later tonight.
