QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 09:28 PM) Chuck Garfien @ChuckGarfien AJ Pierzynski has more home runs than Prince Fielder, Carlos Gonzalez, Matt Holliday, Mike Trout, and Adrian Beltre. 'Roids

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) 2 homers for Manny Machado. 20 years old. f***in' incredible. And I see he was 2/4 with a triple last night as well.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 04:29 PM) I don't really care about the season, they might be a 4-5 seed but it won't matter. They need to pace themselves, obviously, but we are still talking about a team with: Kobe - 2nd in ppg Nash - 2nd in apg (on an AWFUL team) Howard - 1st in RPG Howard - 3 in BPG and then gasol. KD - 24 Westbrook - 23 Harden - 22 Ibaka - 22 Perkins - 27 Sefolosha - 28 Athleticism, speed and depth easily favor the Thunder. The Lakers have an obvious advantage down-low with Howard and Gasol. But like I think it was zoom said, not many teams have a 4-5 combo of Perkins/Ibaka to combat that advantage. I'm sorry. The Lakers are better. But I'm not with this penciling them into the finals noise. This isn't like the Heat in the east where there's nobody really close.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 03:36 PM) How much more valuable did Kendrick Perkins just get? Yeah, he's always kept Dwight in check in the past. Perkins can actually match Dwight's brute force with his own.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 03:15 PM) But 4 players in your starting lineup are legit top 5 at their positions. That's incredible. Nash is away from phx staff, but when he gets to the playoffs? He's going to look 30 again. Three of those 4 players aren't what they used to be (though all three are still very good). The other won't be ready to start the season and will need time once he's back on the court before he's back to being the MVP/DPOY force that he's been the last 4 years. Again, looks real good on paper. I just see a lot of potential issues (lack of depth, outside shooting, etc). The Thunder's core has been together for three years now and they've gotten better each year.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 10, 2012 -> 02:58 PM) We'll see. Lakers are a really bizarre team of personalities to throw together. It's going to be incredibly entertaining if it's spectacularly good or bad. On paper, I"d take the lakers for a year over this years OKC, but it's entirely possible the lakers never mesh/get really bad injuries. I think they're just too damn old, even with Dwight. Kobe - 34, Gasol -32, Nash - 38, MWP - 33, Jamison - 36. Their bench is still below average. They'll be good, of course. But give me the Thunder's young legs and another year's experience over LA.

Lakers still can't see the Thunder.

What baseball team do you hate the most?

A Chicago Cubs World Series celebration/parade would dwarf anything 2005 White Sox. The national coverage would be too much for me. I couldn't take it. -

Cubs. Easy. October, 2003 was arguably the worst month of my life until a hero, a champion, a wonder to behold, a dear good friend of mine intervened and put an end to the horror that had been that month: Mr. Steven Bartman. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 9, 2012 -> 02:36 AM) GREG AND I AGREE. greg is really an outstanding guy. Who cares that he has a hard-on for ozzie as I do snooki and j-wwow. greg is great.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 10:19 PM) They might not have great benches, but the Sox bench has been almost worse than you can imagine. Our non-core players of ADA, Youk, Beckham, Rios, Dunn, Konerko, AJ, Morel, Ramirez and Viciedo are: 86 for 439 (.196) with 3 home runs With Youk saying he's had lingering soreness in his knee, it's imperative they get someone that can back him up if needed. Not even I can get worked up over a weak bench at this point. Anybody out there on waivers?
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) Don't worry. We've got Hudson, Olmeda and Danks on the bench. We'll be fine! How many AL teams have great benches? If the Sox come up short, it won't be because of a weak bench.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) In 2005, out of 17 home games in September we cracked 30K 6 times. That was the best season in our history with a ridiculously long drought since a championship. I doubt we'll top those 6 games this year. Interesting. I didn't know what. That's pretty damn sad. -

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 09:56 PM) When school starts in a few weeks attendence will be back down in the low 20Ks. Not if they're still in 1st. At least I think that will be the case. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 05:32 PM) May 17th is the day he sort of took off...it's about 71 games, actually. Overall this year, he's been about the 21st best hitter in baseball. But if you picked it up from May 17th, I'll bet he'd be top 10. Personally, I don't like to break up season's intro intervals. "So and so has been one of the best in baseball since May 25th." I think it insults the best of the best that have done it from day one (Trout, Braun, 'Cutch, etc). -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) He's hit .360 for about the last 80 games. He's definitely been amongst the best hitters in baseball for 3/4 of the year. 80 games? Well, he took off in June and hasn't stopped. That's about 55-ish games or so (not sure of the exact total). Edit: .346/.360/.636/.996 since June 1st (58 games). That's still far less than three months. But yeah, since then he's been great. -
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 04:42 PM) For sure. Like right now he hasnt made contact with a baseball in like 2 series. Then fans look at his BA near .200 and his OBP creeping towards .325 and most fans go YIKES. They aren't idiots, they just prefer a different style of baseball from the heart of the order. Yeah, the OBP is troubling. .333 in June, .311 in July and now, albeit only 6 games, .192 in August.

QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 04:42 PM) Ok, if you say so. The last 3 months for him has been solid gold that's all I know. Hitting, slugging, scoring runs, playing D, stealing a big base when you need it....oh, and that walk off on Friday night as I enjoyed my MGD from the Club Level. You do know who Mike Trout is, no? Or Andrew McCutchen? Some dude named Ryan Braun, I don't know, hitting the baseball really well? Has Rios had a fine bounce-back season? Yes. Has he been the White Sox best player? No doubt. Best in baseball? No, no, no. -

QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 04:34 PM) Must be from carrying the team the last like 3 months. LOL Seriously though, he has been as good if not better (all-around) than anyone in all of baseball. Not really. Not even close. But he's had a fine year. No doubt. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 8, 2012 -> 03:22 PM) If he gets to 40 bombs, which he will, he is comeback Player of the Year. Dunn has always been one of my favorite players. When the Sox got him I was ecstatic. I honestly think that I'd almost rather him not be on the team though sometimes. He helps the team win games but I can't deal with the amounts of stupid that a player like Dunn brings upon White Sox fans. I just don't know if I can read about Dunn being bad at baseball for the next two years. Man, I love how the internet lets the stupid be stupid with no consequence. I definitely didn't want him on the team last year.

Return of an All-Star: Sale vs Royals

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 6, 2012 -> 08:40 PM) WTF. They have been playing great baseball the past 2 weeks and scoring 6 runs per game over the past 6 weeks. +1. I know how I am. But I've had flat nothing to say negatively about the Sox this year (outside of Dunn taking three true outcome to another level). Oh s***. Was he saying the royals suck? If that's the case, nevermind. lol. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 09:20 AM) You are a troll man, what the f*** is the point of this post other than to get people to disagree with you? "Hey guys, I know that I chose to enter a political sub forum on the website, and I just want you to know that by doing so, I think the entire board has become political, and I don't like it. Neener, neener neenner!" Thanks for the opinion, but for the 15-20 people that post here regularly we enjoy the back and forth (speaking for myself anyway). I disagree with SS on just about everything, but I still enjoy arguing with him (and others obviously). I know I'm late here. But I just can't help myself. Look, when Jason created this board, you know, SOXTALK (a baseball team), I feel confident when I say he believed that the majority of the conversation would be centered around, I don't know, the WHITE SOX. wow. oooh. damn. whatever. And then we went into other teams, mainly chicago teams, that was fine. Sports should dominate, you know, a sports board. The last three years have been an atrocity. I feel like this board should be on par with that of nyyfans or sonsofsamhorn where they, **gulp**, talk about sports. But for some reason, old, crusty and flat out angry people have taken over. And it's sad. Would you old and angry people please get a life (I'm not talking about all of you, but you know who you are), and stop acting like you know everything.

I can't remember. Does greg just have an irrational love from everybody from 2005 or both 2005 and 2008? If the latter, he's going to be pissed!
