Sox versus Twins 12:10 pm Afternoon Delight
Jordan4life_2007 replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2011 Season in Review
I'm on gameday. Says throwing error by Blackburn enabled PK and AJ to each advance a base. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) Tampa currently sits atop the "really smart franchise" rankings. This is true.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) Absolutely...it's crazy how he went from having such plus stuff to looking like Mark Buehrle on the mound (stuff wise). I know a lot of us used to think it was a sure loss when we'd face Kazmir in Tampa. Back in '06, the only pitcher in the game that I thought had better 'stuff' was Liriano. That includes Santana, Halladay, Felix, etc.
-
How smart is Tampa looking right now? They knew he was on a downward slope. Traded him at the perfect time and got two legitimate pieces in return.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 11:39 AM) If they put him in the OF over Pierre I'd be totally fine with it As would I. I'll TIVO it for comedic purposes. I'll make sure I download some circus music for this event.

Hudson looking forward to Friday

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 11:36 AM) Right, because Soxtalk never looks back on trades and freaks out. Not this one. I was against the trade as soon as word got out that Hudson was involved. -
QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 11:31 AM) Fun times may be ahead for Interleague play, per Rotoword: White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said Thursday that Adam Dunn will get starts at first base and potentially the outfield during interleague play. Adam Dunn in the OF? THIS version of Adam Dunn in the OF? I'll be sure to TIVO those games.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:52 AM) He was terrible, and the prospect of a better arm for a playoff push is something ide never blame KW for.. I'd agree in theory. Except we weren't trading for a better arm. -

QUOTE (gatnom @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:19 AM) I've always thought it was interesting that everybody completely forgets that David Holmberg was part of that trade too. He's putting up a pretty decent season, albeit in A ball. Decent my ass. He's dominating at 19. And my reign of terror will be godlike if Hudson shuts us down and Jackson is his usual mediocre, I need 100 pitches to get through 4 1/3 innings, self. -
WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
Jordan4life_2007 replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Viciedo struggles initially, s***, so be it. He more than held his own, though the BB/K ratio was an atrocity, in his brief cup of coffee at the big league level last year. There's nowhere to go but up. You can't possibly be worse than Juan Pierre. He's been by every statistical measure, standard and advanced, one of the worst players in baseball. Viciedo would have to put up a slashline of .000/.000/.000/.000 with a UZR of -53.5 to be worse than Juan Pierre. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) Sorry, I won't be around. And if you think I'm the one who will blow up about Hudson vs Jackson, then you've mistaken me for a few other people. As much as I hate that trade, there's others on here that are significantly more upset about it. I have no idea who you are referring to? I'm guessing Heads. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 02:03 AM) Why would you drink urine though? That's kinda gross. Now if you had said something like "lick her unwashed feet," then maybe we are on to something because there are a few more people who are into that. Hell, one of them coaches the New York Jets. I forgot about that post. I was drunker than a Dallas Maverick. But I figured it would have to be something grotesque, you know, in order to hit something of that caliber.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 16, 2011 -> 12:27 AM) I wanna see Coop fix his ass. f*** Ohman. Kazmir's FB tops out at like 87. This is worse than '06 Freddy Garcia who lost 4-5 MPH off his FB in one offseason. You don't want this. Cooper ain't that good.
-
Brewers up 8-4 now in the 8th. So good to see that it appears Rickie Weeks has overcome his injury woes. Really fun player to watch. Might be the best 2B in the NL with Utley more injury prone and older now.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) Greg, there's a huge difference between Rios/Dunn and Pierre. Rios/Dunn are locked up for numerous more years with the Sox, so they're obviously not going to be DFA'd, etc. Not to mention both of those guys actually have legitimate skills when they're right. Therefore you can foresee some upside. Juan had one baseball skill prior to this year. Speed. And that's all but gone. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:45 PM) They boo Dunn at the Cell, but you really think Dunn is that unpopular on here? I don't. People still like him. And when Rios gets criticized, somebody always comes back with how he should be hitting leadoff which is a non sequitir if I ever saw one considering his production. You get points for the bolded. The rest of this post is an F-. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:41 PM) Would Holmberg be our #1 pitching prospect? Unquestionably. Also, how good is Julio Teheran? The kid is 20 and sporting an ERA OF 1.78 at AAA. I f***ing hate the Braves. Their scouts must've sold their souls to the baseball devils or somethin'. They been doin' this s*** for 20+ years.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:34 PM) I truly think a rebuild is in the cards sometime in the near future. Not sure I would want Kenny in charge of it though. I'm praying for it. I got my World Series at 22. I can wait. It'll suck. But this just can't continue. And like you said, we won't be able to get started on this until Ozzie and KW are gone. So maybe another beatdown by the Twins wouldn't be the absolute worst thing in the world in the long-run (I obviously hope that's not the case and we win the division). But I have serious doubts, obviously.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:30 PM) Every day that Pierre sucks and the Sox lose this thread should grow longer and longer. Bring up Viciedo ! Play Lillibridge ! Do w/e with Juan Pierre ! But Juan did end the game with one of his patented sissy singles. So there's a positive for ya. /ranger -
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) The bad trade continues to be bad. KW has truly sodomized this organization with his horrific and short-sighted moves the last 3+ years.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-l3IXTQDsDg..._embedded#at=37 Teaser of the Moneyball movie. I want to see this, but Jonah Hill as Paul Depodesta? I just can't take that seriously. Yeah, casting him in a movie like this partially compromises its credibility. But I do love Hill. The way he screamed when he saw that mummy or whatever the hell that was in "Accepted" still makes my ribs hurt to this day.

QUOTE (southsidepride15 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 09:59 PM) Exactly. It's still only one game. Let's all cry ourselves to sleep now. No, it's not one game. Not against this team. 7-27 since May of '09? Are you serious. That's a problem and shouldn't sit well with anyone. There's no way to sugarcoat that. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:06 PM) I had no idea, that's shocking as last I checked, he was having a subpar year. I love the guy though. I read today that Josh Bell won't be signed. That sucks. I want them and the Reds to load up on as much young talent as possible. For obvious reasons, of course. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 09:53 PM) I'm loving the rejuvenation of the Pirates. Hanrahan is a stud, and someone I wanted the Sox to look into last year along with Matt Lindstrom (I'm a sucker for hard throwers in the Futures Game). I'm sure you probably already know this, as you're as big as fan of the guy as I am. But Andrew McCutchen is 4th in all of baseball in WAR. He's the anti-Beckham. Andrew gets better every year while Gordon continues to regress.
