QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 11:07 PM) A shame you missed it. Your man Juan walloped a homer. Yeah, I saw the boxscore and thought it was a typo. That's his 1.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) Law notes Chris Reed as one of his draft sleepers. A closer? No thanks.

QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 10:18 PM) Verlander tomorrow We beat Lester's ass. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 07:53 PM) Lucas Harrell didn't appreciate getting sent down. 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K. I didn't appreciate having to watch him pitch. He's fodder.

Missed this one. Looks like we left a billion runners on. Still have to correct that. But I'll take the win. Make that 17-9 in their last 26 games. You knew this was coming. Can they sustain it? That's the question. And I don't mean play .700 baseball the rest of the way. But no more of these 3-4 week funks in which you can't tell the difference between them and the '03 Tigers.

Great read. I love fangraphs. They kept it all about baseball. If this were Whitesox.com, Merkin would be asking about his wife, kids, favorite color, favorite hobby, etc. Nobody cares about that.

Slumps and Adam Dunn: they've met before
Jordan4life_2007 replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Holy mother of Jesus f***. Dunn's K% is 41.3%. That's by far the highest of his career (which is saying something). The next highest in baseball is Jack Cust at 34.8%. -

This Oliver guy appears to be trash. We should rock his ass. -
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) Ya. Completely sucking for 4 years and being able to draft Lincecum, Cain, Bumgarner and Posey had nothing to do with it. And where is this young talent your finding? Other than Kung Fu Panda (who they signed as a 17 year old) and the others mentioned, everyone else on that team other than Brandon Belt and Brandon Crawford (who aren't even regulars and who I wouldn't consider studs like those mentioned) are 28 and older (unless you consider 28 "young"). Now I will say this. SF does have a very good scouting department (had a good one for a while), and even with high picks like they've had, you still have to make the right decisions and they have done that. (unless you trade a young talent like Liriano away at the time like that one GM's name that is slipping my mind right now did....) You did forget about Jonathan Sanchez. I believe he was a 25th round pick. Whether that was good scouting or just plain luck is unknown. Otherwise, good post.

I get the Heat hate. But to stop watching the NBA if they win it all? lol. That's kinda babyish. I guess the 2011-2012 NBA Thread will be about 200 replies next year.

Wite obviously wasn't drinking last night. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 05:33 AM) In the finals does it change to a 2-3-2 format? I thought it stayed at 2-2-1-1-1 Where you been the last 27 years?

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 12:33 AM) My bad. Still think Konerko is an above average 1B while Byrd is a pretty average CF. I could be wrong though. You're not wrong. But WAR is based on positional adjustments. As in how PK ranks against other 1B. 1B is the deepest position in the game. So his WAR won't be as good as an elite or good SS or CF. Two positions that are much more scarce.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) Phegley 4-4 with 7 RBI tonight. Geez Still don't like the pick. As it was pretty clear they could've waited. But that is indeed impressive.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 10:50 PM) How sweet would it be if Dallas won 4 straight? They've got to win at least 2/3 at home. I can't see them winning three straight. I think that's only happened three times since the NBA went to the 2-3-2 format. They definitely can't lose 2/3 and then have to go back to Miami and win 2.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 10:49 PM) They haven't had anyone in the middle to support him AT ALL until this year. They should've won in 2006 and had no business losing to the Warriors in '07. Back then you could get away with playing small forwards on Dirk for long stretches at a time because he wasn't always aggressive and settled for long jumpers. He's nothing like that now.
-
QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) Magnificent. Wade and Lebron celebrating with 8 minutes left was funny. A game like that will do wonders mentally for Dallas. Finally the garbage jumpers fir Lebron stopped falling. Their offense just died. It was amazing to watch. LeBron pound the ball, shoot a low% desperation 3. Wade pound the ball, shoot a low% desperation 3 or long 2. Give Dallas all the credit in the world, though. They could've easily said f*** it and looked at the 3 games at home as their last crutch.
-
It's a shame it's taken Dirk so long to truly mature and evolve as a basketball player. Dallas would have at least a couple titles by now.
-
I can't wait for the post-game press conferences. lol.
-
And we've got a series. What an epic choke by Miami. Maybe there's still hope!
-
WTF was that?
-
A 20-2 run by Dallas.
-
LMFAO!
