  1. I officially hate High Mileage. Jake Odorizzi, who I don't think is viewed as one of the Royals' top 5 pitching 'spects, is obliterating High A at the ripe old age of 20. 2.42 ERA, 13.15 K/9, 1.73 BB/9 in 5 starts so far. The Royals are coming.
  2. lol. You somewhat made a point in that I'm no expert (never thought I was), but how the hell do you come up with those posts so fast? Does the search function only work for mods? And if it worked for us, I could pull up posts in which I've been right. Lillibridge is still a below average baseball player. I'm not crowning Humber after a good month. And CQ has proven me wrong so far. You don't keep Flowers simply in this case of IF you're able to trade A.J. If you thought anything of him you don't resign him and go with Flowers from the get go.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ May 8, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) He is slumping because he's trying to get his swing back. They fiddled with his stance and messed him up. He's hit before, he'll hit again. No thanks. Sounds like Beckham. I've given up on this organization ever producing position player talent. Not that I'm giving up on Beckham. But he should've been a slam dunk. Get me Ron Schueler or somebody like him.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ May 8, 2011 -> 10:08 AM) Flowers may have to replace A.J. before the year is out. It would be foolish to trade him now. Why? He's awful. He can't hit AAA pitching and he doesn't play anywhere close to sufficient enough defense to mask his offensive deficiencies. Mainly a K% that ranges from 32-35%. If you can get anything, and I mean anything, worthwhile for Flowers you don't hesitate.
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 8, 2011 -> 09:40 AM) FWIW, Red Sox might be interested in Flowers. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/05/cafa...rs-red-sox.html lol. We need to pounce.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 8, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) And where is Alex Rios in comparison to those 2? Even worse. .588 OPS. But it was .534 going into last night!
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2011 -> 09:53 PM) I've seen no reason to believe that LBJ mentally picks it up in the postseason...not since 2008 at least. The last 2 years he's been a prime postseason quitter too, and his team has followed. I'll give you last year. But here's LeBron's '09 playoff line: 35.3 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 7.3 apg, 51% fg, 37.4 PER over 14 games. And to put the PER stat in perspective, MJ never had one that high in any of his playoff runs. LeBron was BY FAR the best player in the playoffs that season. They didn't lose to Orlando because he mentally checked out.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2011 -> 02:52 AM) Just think. If we win and Cleveland loses we'll only be 11 out. No worries. Cleveland will eventually fade. Just like when the Twins were supposed to fall off last year without the Metrodome as a crutch.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ May 7, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) Thunder playing this 4th like a team at the Y. Mostly because of Westbrook. He was magnificent in the first half. 8 assists vs 1 turnover. But he reverts back into retard Steve Francis mode for some reason at times.
  10. QUOTE (High Mileage @ May 7, 2011 -> 05:56 PM) Wow, Verlander no-hits the Blue Jays... I threw a no-hitters 3 days ago. There was no coverage and nobody cared because they occur every week.
  11. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ May 7, 2011 -> 06:20 PM) But you're making the assumption these players have talent. Why can't people just realize these are not very good baseball players. Watch some of the real elite teams in major leagues and then come back and what this foolishness and tell me these guys have talent. lol. This team has no talent now? If that were the case nobody would care about the terrible start.
  12. Do people even care about no-hitters/perfect games anymore? I laugh when ESPN classifies them as "Breaking News." STFU. We've seen like 8 in the last year and 1 month. From now on, you have to throw two in a row for it to mean something, IMO.
  13. QUOTE (Marty34 @ May 7, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) How many AL CF'ers were better than Rios last year? Off the top of my head, Hamilton, Hunter . . . Well going by WAR there were 4 better: Hamilton, Gardener, Wells and Austin Jackson. But you made your point. CF in the AL isn't particularly strong.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) Clearly you didn't watch every White Sox game in the second half last season. He never had an OPS of over 765 for any month besides May. I won't argue he (Rios) was probably our best player for the first two months, and Alexei was cold (the first three years of his career) simultaneously. Post All-Star game, he had a 684 OPS. That's when we really needed him to come through, same thing with late 2009. And his defense wasn't quite as good in the 2nd half, either. Better than 2011, but that's Brian Anderson territory for 3 months. When you consider their contracts, the pre-eminence of the SS position and the dearth of talent there across the majors, Ramirez was clearly better. I don't think anyone else on this board will argue that Rios was better than Ramirez in 2011. Alex Rios is one of the top 3 underachievers (I think the Upton Boys are tops) in baseball. This guy has skills/talent oozing out of his ass yet he consistently disappoints. He's been average to bad since June 1 of last year.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:48 PM) I really don't mind your b****ing about every White Sox prospect, but when you mention other teams' prospect you fail to mention they have struggled at times too. Brett Wallace was horrid last year. You were very wrong about Humber, maybe you have, but I haven't seen you give him his due., and since you think Beckham sucks, you will be wrong about him. Honestly, I really don't care about Humber. He's been great so far. But he's nowhere near as important to this organization going forward as Beckham is. Yeah, I know Wallace sucked last year. And if you read what I said I stated "for the most part" when it came to other teams' top prospects coming up and producing right away. He (Wallace) obviously made some adjustments and now you're seeing why he was so highly regarded (though he's been traded like 22 times). What's Beckham doing? Do we have to wait until August every year for him to look like a major leaguer? I never said Beckham sucks. At least in the sense that he has no talent like Juan Pierre. Sure, if he goes 0/4 with 3 Ks I might say something crazy. But it's not like I think the guy is Jason Kendall. But this game is about results. We're in a hole right now and he's been a big part of it. He or Walker or who f***ing ever need to figure out what the problem is.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Maybe he's a late bloomer like Humber. Have you given Humber his due? Cool. So we get to wait 5 more years until Beckham 'gets it?' That's a terrible comparison and you know it.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) Actually, Beckham has struggled, succeeded, struggled, succeeded, struggled. Its really amazing how many people have given up on him. You will all be eating crow. Nobody will be eating crow. He'll be given his just due like he was in '09 when he was producing. As of right now, he deserves nothing but criticism. We heard all the spring training fluff about how Beckham was "looking to rebound" or "looking to put 2010 behind him" and here we are in the same position with him. Then you look around baseball and you see guys like Buster Posey, Jason Heyward, Drew Stubbs, Justin Smoak, Brett Wallace, Starlin Casto, Ike Davis, and Andrew McCutchen for the most part get called up and consistently produce right off the bat and Beckham's struggles are magnified.
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:05 PM) Beckham has a1.000 fielding # and is comin around I think. What the hell?
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:10 PM) Adrian Gonzalez Longoria as well.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) Nothing wrong with that. MJ is the best player to step foot on a court. Rose has his own legacy to define Yeah, I just got caught up in the moment. Rose had my ass mesmerized. Then I remembered MJ and I came back down a little.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:40 AM) Kind of like MLB. Unfortunately, the Sox never received that memo. Damn you. I come here to forget about that nightmare of an organization.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:40 AM) awww man why you gotta do me like that? lmao. I've got new wallpaper. And another thing, I was trying to think if Rose's performance last night could crack MJ's top 10 playoff/finals games. Took me about 32 seconds to realize it can't. Anyway, epic game.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:32 AM) The Lakers to me just look like they expected it to be easy, and Pau is playing extremely soft which isnt helping things at all. The Mavs are just playing run and gun and the Lakers just cannot keep up with them at this point in the season, they are gassed. Strangely enough, the Lakers and Spurs look extremely similar in how their series are playing out, a step slow and expecting the other team to let them do what they want. It surprises me, Phil Jackson is usually pretty good about not allowing his teams to play like that. I agree with pretty much all of this. Personally, I just think it's a new era. The Celtics' Big 3, Tim Duncan, Kobe, Nash are all older and have seen their best days. And you've got this incredible new wave that's come in the last few years. Out with the old, in with the new.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 07:32 AM) I don't think its a surprise any one of them has struggled. What is a surprise is that they are all struggling and the length of the struggles. The season is going to be a quarter over soon. How many good teams play this bad for this long? Its happened, but its extremely rare. How is this surprising? We see this just about every year.
  25. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:07 AM) What is it about Paul that brings out the insecurities in people? Tell an Illini fan that Paul is better than Deron, and he will rip your freaking head off. Question: Why is no one worried about the Mavericks? People were scared of the Lakers, and the Mavs might sweep them. Why does no one seem to think the Bulls would have a problem with them? For me, it's just that aura the Lakers have or had. The experience and know-how. Kinda like the Bulls in the 90's. It's not that the Mavs couldn't beat the Bulls at all.
