Just got to the park. First of all, portal potties are f***ing disgusting. Second, I haven't seen this many f***ing hot ass mexican girls in a while. I'm going to get my liquid courage on and hopefully I'll be livin la vida loca later tonight. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) The Indians have won 11 in a row at home. Once you start dominating at home, you can continue that even with a mediocre baseball team. Royals may be slumping, but at least they also are rolling at home. Sorry if I'm so pissed. But I have one pet peeve. That my favorite team play good baseball or decent baseball the first month and not be nine out in the loss column after one f***ing month. Lol@ that being a pet peeve. Greg, you are the greatest poster to ever live.

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) Am I the only one that prefers Humber over Peavy? After the past 2 seasons, I've kind of lost faith in Peavy, so I'd rather stick with Humber, even if it means the Sox carries a 6-man rotation. Kinda. Because Peavy doesn't really exist. He's like death from family guy. But even a semi-healthy Peavy easily trumps Humber.

I could never just stop going to games. I fell in love with baseball long before the White Sox. Just being at the ballpark and the entire experience. The food, booze and hot girls help, too. But if I've got the money, I'm there.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) It seems that the only ray of hope, and this includes me, is that the division is so bad that we may still end up winning it. Yay, we suck less than the rest of the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked. I don't know why people keep dismissing Cleveland. That offense and bullpen are real. The rotation is suspect. Masterson has been unbelievable. Carmona has been solid since his horrific opening day start. Tomlin is pitching over his head. But so was Garland in '05. So who knows. If they're in the thick of it come June/July then they, unlike us, have the pieces in their farm to go out and upgrade.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 09:59 AM) Ive plunked down money for season tickets every year for the past 14, going to at least 50 games per during that time. Trust me this is no fun. I'm not questioning your fandom. But you can't create a " I told you so" thread and then turn around and say I didn't want to be right but I'm going to make it known that I was. That's really tooting your own horn. Even if you don't realize it.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 11:30 PM) Love this board and I take no pleasure in being right predicting this as a mediocre team (at best) during this offseason, but what were optimists thinking? Lol@you take no pleasure. That's exactly what you're doing. The "optimists" had every right to think this would be a good team. And it still very well could be. But they do have to get this s*** turned around and like fast. Otherwise will need a Rockies-like second half run to get back in this thing.

I'll be at this one. Just look for a young handsome black guy with 6 beers in his lap. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) Same here. lol. Please don't let this team start 10-17 or some s***. It's gonna get ugly.
-
QUOTE (since56 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) Even thinking that makes me question your loyalty. Suicide yes, Cub fan no! Question it all you want. I will not tolerate another JP at bat after this year. I'd rather bang Liza Minelli.

QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 04:18 AM) I watched Hudson against I forget who his last start. I won't even check, for the sake of observation. He was hit fairly hard. He didn't do great. In fact, he struggled hard But watching him that start, and watching E. Jax today, the comparison is nil. Both had little to offer. Both were way, way off. Only difference is Hudson salvaged a start. E-Jax is useless, meanwhile, for his what? 5th? 6th? team? He's useless. Period. Thank you! That's what it's always been about for me. I could've easily bumped this thread myself but didn't because I don't want Jackson to suck. Bucket of suck wants Hudson to suck simply to prove us 'haters' wrong. I've followed Jackson for years. Studs don't get traded 4 times in 5 years. They just don't. We gave up years and money for a guy who's no better than the guy we gave up. Now if we trade Hudson, Holmberg and whatever for Dan Haren? s***. I don't care if Hudson and Holmberg turn into Strasburg and Kershaw. You make that trade EVERY single time. Jackson? Indefensible.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) does it really matter? Is McDowell held to a different standard because he's a coach? What if this guy said something just as insulting/vulgar to him initially? That's all I'm saying. McDowell is wrong and I'm sure he'll be disciplined by major league baseball and the Braves. But I'd like to hear both sides. I'm not going to automatically assume this was a nice guy who took his kids to the park and a pitching coach out of nowhere went verbally apes***.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) It's entirely possible the Sox wind up resigning him. And that will be the day J4L finds a new team to cheer for. Oh my goodness if that happens. I might switch over to the Cubs.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 01:09 PM) Wow. What a vile piece of s***. Hopefully he catches a bad case of scurvy and gets banned from the game. McDowell is definitely in the wrong. But I would like to know what that guy said to incite him. I'd have to imagine it was a lot more than a typical 'you suck' or whatever.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) He has absolutely no power whatsoever. In order to be solid offensively, you need to either hit about .330 (which Juan Pierre could only do if he got ridiculously lucky at this point), walk an absolute ton (which Pierre does not do) or you need to have some semblance of power. It doesn't matter that he's the leadoff hitter; in fact, it's preferred as the leadoff hitter that he have some sort of power. If Juan Pierre could hit 40 doubles and 10 triples a year - never gonna happen, I'm well aware - he increases his value exponentially. The reason for this is that you can be on base all you want and you can have a player be as fast as possible - it's still going to take 2 base hits or a home run to score that runner. You can talk about steals all you want to, but steals come at the expense of a hitter potentially digging themselves into a hole by taking a couple pitches or losing aggressiveness at the plate because the steal is on. Beyond that, there's usually about a 1 in 4 chance (and it's been worse than 1 in 2 this year) that he gets thrown out at 2B, which obviously defeats the purpose all together. He would be an OK 9 hitter. He should not be receiving the most plate appearances on the team. Let me simplify this post: Juan Pierre is a below average baseball player at this point. I guarantee after this year he will NOT start for whatever team he ends up with. Or at the very least no way he hits leadoff.

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) The one thing I am tired of is our starters pitching great games but then getting the loss because we can't score anything. Danks has totally gotten shafted so far. So far? You mean his career.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Ibaka is going to just continue to get better. He's showing nice development and the upside is there with his athletismism. Perkins has relieved him from playing C as much. He's only about 235-240. That's helped him considerably. I compare it to the pressure Pau Gasol took off of Odom. Before Gasol, Odom was by far and away the Lakers' second best player. But he wasn't consistent. He's much better in the role he's in now. As evidenced by his 6th man of the year award.
