QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) Last one was Frank Thomas maybe? Yup -

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 07:00 PM) Yep, now he's the Gordon Beckham of the 1st half of 2010 once again and it's ugly...I am starting to have serious concerns whether or not he'll make it as a big leaguer now, really Sometime before I die a highly touted White Sox prospect will come up and dominate from day one. I'm thinking 2018. -

I blame Felix for what's happened with Dunn. -

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:55 PM) What is Gordo's problem?? He seems to be starting way late and secondly it seems he's thinking WAY too much up at the plate. At some point the guy just needs to react like he did in 2009 and we got a #2 hitter...ughhh Remember when Sox fans, myself included, wouldn't have traded Gordon for anything outside of Pujols? Yeah, I miss those days. -

Off-topic, but what the hell has gotten into Jeff Francoeur? I used to love making fun of him. -

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:46 PM) haha sometimes it's good not to watch. And looking it up, Juan is 5 of 15 with 2 outs and RISP. Wouldn't believe it at all. He came through multiple times I believe during the first two games against the Indians when we scored like 67 runs. Don't be fooled. He's bad. -

Back from a 4-day flu and Juan Pierre still sucks. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 11:28 PM) Just a question, but when is it officially OK to worry about this team? I'm looking for an exact date. May 13th. Why? I have no clue.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) J4L said he'd trade Rose for CP3. That is the statement I have found so insulting and will not concede ground on. That's false. I said I wouldn't be upset if that trade went down. Scroll back. Check post #4962 if you don't believe me.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 10:10 PM) YEAH MARK PRIOR HAS MADE AS MANY APPEARANCES IN AAA AS THIS FOOL I know you're playing. But he's right. No discomfort playing catch? lol. I want that trade back.

QUOTE (Andrew @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) Looked it up myself... Still prolly more valuable than s***ty Pena, but that's comparing Charmin to store-brand.... He's obliterated the minor leagues. Why they don't play him eludes everyone. Well, everyone except those that can't admit Tony Pena is awful at his profession.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 08:49 PM) So does that mean they were stupid enough to think Dan Hudson could be a number one or just more cognitive dissonance? Allen isn't that good. Plus slow, power hitting corner guys are about as common as pot holes on Chicago streets currently. He had a .933 OPS at AAA last year. Their team is horrible. Yet they can't give him any run? They're inept.

I officially hate Alex Rios.
-
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 08:45 PM) The DBacks have Russell Branyan hitting third and playing first. That says all you need to know about this silly obsession some sox fans have with Allen. Or maybe it says something about how inept the Arizona front-office is?
-
QUOTE (Real @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 08:38 PM) How long before Kenny DFA's Tony Pena? Does Pena know he sucks, or do you think someone would have to tell him? Has Coop done jack s*** with a reliever since Thornton?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 08:26 PM) If Rios had caught a ball he should have caught, we'd be right in this. Wow. That guy is entering Juan Pierre territory as far as my hate goes. Good to see CQ still raking.

QUOTE (DukeofChicago88 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 08:21 PM) Buuhrle sucking, Verlander cruising till 7th, Quentin with two solo shots and Paulie with one. Our def somewhat unimpressive as they have failed to throw some leather on a few plays. I was worried about Mark before the season even started. He's just not 'fooling' anybody. At least not like he was before. League may have finally caught up.

Just tuning in, guys. What have I missed?

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) Can we please stay on topic here boys...? Daniel Hudson sucks. Excellent analysis.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) Great zombie Jesus what is going on? All J4L was arguing was that 1) Rose isn't otherworldly efficient and 2) He'd take Paul I'm not gonna argue with #1 because Rose isn't efficient. That's a byproduct of him having to take a lot more shots because the team doesn't having a Shooting Guard who can, well, shoot. However, it's the same "Kobe inefficiency" in that the ones he does make, you're gonna remember and he steps it up in the clutch, where I'm sure Rose's numbers are not only efficient, but probably astronomical and those buzzer-beater prayers that he throws up at the end of quarters don't help. Also, before I forget, he was more efficient before he took contact to get to the line, so drawing FT's is hurting him. As for number 2, I've made it clear I wouldn't take Paul over Rose, but that's because of Rose's ability to put up crazy numbers and not be inefficient, while being 22, and the fact that when down by 10 with 3:30 left I don't bat an eye because Derrick Rose is gonna take over. And because he's workaholic who will probably improve efficiency next year. You, sir, are awesome.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) From Rosenthal's Twitter: This from STATS: Scoring rate at 4.31 runs per team per game. April not over, but that would be lowest March-April average since 1992. #MLB These horrific NL lineups and the A's, Mariners and Rays are certainly not helping matters.

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) Welcome to what everyone else is saying, now stop shooting for self satisfaction in your quest to pat yourself on the back because you are such a f***ing "realist". Have you read through this thread?

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) Its just the nature of the efficiency stat. Which is why of the top 10, 9 of them are guys who are 6'7 and taller and therefore can get all of the positive stats (blocks) while reducing the amount of negative (turn over and shots blocked). I guess I dont believe the stat is the end all be all, and would rather rely on what I see. Another lame excuse. So Paul and Nash don't shoot as much. And other guys, well, they're taller and can block more shots. lol.
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) I dont think Nash is as good of a player as Lebron or Wade, what else is there to say? I think Lebron may be one of the top 3 players in the history of basketball when its all said and done, Rose isnt 1 or 2, so why would I argue that Rose is better than Lebron? That would be stupid, last I checked Im not stupid. Wade (imo) was better than Rose, but Im not sure if Id take Wade today over Rose, so once again Im not sure what other year stats have to do with today. Once again, Im talking about Rose being MVP this year. I have no idea what you are arguing about. Dude, I'm not arguing over who's better. This was about efficiency. You want to pigeonhole Paul and Nash because they "don't shoot as much" when there are other players who shoot just as much as Rose and dwarf him from that standpoint. Basically, Rose is not super efficient because, well, he's just not super efficient. That doesn't mean he cant be. He's 22. But stop making excuses.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) Dude, what is your point here? You are making no sense. I'm making perfect sense. You just don't want to see it because you're a homer. When folks bring up efficiency in regards to players like Nash and Paul, we hear, "Well, they don't shoot and have to score as much as Rose, if they did, their efficiency wouldn't be as high." Well, look at LeBron, Wade and even a Kevin Durant. They both shoot and score A LOT and maintain elite efficiency.
