Danks
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 05:22 PM) Then take his services for the 2 years then the draft picks. If the Sox traded him for prospects they would IMO, turn out like the prospects the Marlins got for Cabrera. We know nothing about the negotiations, just whats assumed. He turned down the deal Floyd accepted so many take that to mean he wants out. I think it just means he was willing to roll the dice to make some more cash and it looks like it will work. We do have a report the Sox are making signing him a priority. I hope he signs, but if he doesn't, unless its a can't say no deal, I think the 2 years you get to work something out, assuming something about the White Sox or the city isn't really pissing him off, may be enough to get a deal done. If you can't get a worthy package right now or going into next season, I agree. But if a team can woo you right now, you'd be foolish to wait for 2013 draft picks that wouldn't be ready to go by 2015 at the earliest.

Which Starter Would You Try to Deal?
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 04:28 PM) This. I'd only trade if the Sox were out of contention by July, then I'd trade E-Jax to a contender. I'd also look into maybe trading Buehrle for some package similar to Pods/Vizcaino, like someone else mentioned in this thread. Then sign some cheap free agent starting pitcher. Like I said with to maggs, what makes you think we'd be able to get anything worth a damn for a mediocre pitcher (I'm hoping he dominates next year) who will be 2-3 months away from FA?

Danks
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) Maybe Danks isn't technically "elite" yet, but I think he has a great chance to get there. Any bad thing you can say about him you can say about Buerhle, Floyd, Peavy, Jackson, Sale or anyone on the White Sox staff. I am of the opinion Danks is the Sox best starter. I hope they don't trade him. They will be looking for someone as good as him for a long time. I admire your persistence. But I don't think you get it. Nobody really wants to trade Danks. But if he's determined to test the FA market, there's really no other alternative. We will NEVER be able to outbid either NY team or Boston. And you can bet those 3 teams will be lining up to sign him come offseason '12.

Which Starter Would You Try to Deal?
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 21, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) I would get rid of Jackson if I had to. Danks is a beast, the best pitcher we have, no way in hell I would trade him. The Sox will be able to lock him up with Buehrle's contract off the hands of the Sox after the season. I think the Sox and Danks are going to agree to a 4-year deal worth like $40 million, hopefully this off-season, structured as such: 2011 - $6 million 2012 - $10 million 2013 - $11 million 2014 - $13 million They will sign him reasonably for this year and when Buehrle is gone next year (or signed to a salary considerably less than he is currently making), Danks' salary gets bumped up. The Sox know Danks is the best pitcher they have and won't let him go. Regardless, we have him for the next two years for a relatively low salary (for a top-10 starting pitcher in the AL at least), so I wouldn't entertain any thought of trading him this year. If we still can't sign him, then mid-season 2012, is the first time I would entertain that thought. Mid-season 2012? You wouldn't be able to get a bag of peanuts for him if you waited that long. He'd hit FA in 3 months. And Danks is not a top-10 starting pitcher in the AL. More like top-20.

Which Starter Would You Try to Deal?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) He could go to the Twins or Tigers. Oh well yeah. Didn't think of that. It's just been programmed into my brain that whenever a top FA pitcher hits the Market that it's either Mets, Yankees, Red Sox.

Which Starter Would You Try to Deal?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) Why is that the worst possible scenario? I could think of many worse ones. Other than him suffering a big injury, what could be worse?

Which Starter Would You Try to Deal?
QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) I've been advocating the trading of Danksy since about May now. Not that I wouldn't like to keep him, but we just need cheap assets right now and he makes the most sense to move right now. Worst possible scenario is him leaving us for either NY team or Boston when he becomes a FA. I love Danks. #163 is etched into my memory forever. But he's not elite, shouldn't be paid like he's elite, and now would be the best time to deal him IF we can't get him locked up.

Which Starter Would You Try to Deal?
QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) If I were GM, I would not trade any of them. That would be ideal. But we're not in an ideal situation.

Execs believe Grienke will be dealt
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) I'd say their much stronger on the offensive side. I'd agree. Don't know about "much" stronger. But either way they appear to be loaded.

Which Starter Would You Try to Deal?
Peavy nor Buehrle are going anywhere. They wouldn't net anything useful for Jackson. It's clearly between Danks/Floyd. Danks is younger, more consistent and left-handed. I think he'd easily net a better haul, even with the fact he'll soon be expensive. But if KW were to trade Danks, HE BETTER NOT f*** IT UP! I mean you better get two legitimate pieces back, at least. Whether it be major leaguer, minor leaguer or both. In my estimation, and I would LOVE to be proven wrong, this organization is in trouble. A botched Danks trade would be devastating.

Execs believe Grienke will be dealt
QUOTE (sircaffey @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) I would deal both if I were the Royals. They could be Tampa Bay-esq in 3 years. Adding the elite pieces in return for Greinke and Soria to Moustakas, Hosmer, Butler, Myers, Montgomery, Lamb, Duffy, Dwyer, Colon...Scary. Absolutely. They're not winning a thing next year or the year after that. May as well cash in on the few assets they have. QUOTE (striker @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) I hear a lot of talk about KC's farm system. Is it stronger on the offensive side or pitching? Both. They're extremely balanced right now. They've really stepped it up in this department since Moore took over in '06.

DBacks acquire Zach Duke
Zach Duke? C'mon, guys. I know it's November and s*** is slow. But Zach Duke? NO.THANK.YOU.

Granderson for EJax?
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 20, 2010 -> 12:28 AM) lol, for real. Anything short of a cy young next year is a failure. And I could say the same for Hudson. Then you guys would just pull the 'NL' card. I wasn't trying to stir up a debate. As this appears to be pure speculation by Rogers. Just commenting on what a disaster of a move it would be.
-
Granderson for EJax?
So in essence, a young/cheap/talented/under team control for the next 6 years SP for two months of Jackson, only to trade him for a 30-year old that's had one truly great season and can't hit pitchers who throw with their left-hand. Awesome.
-
Justin Upton
Still think there's no chance of a trade happening. Guys of Upton's ilk (age, upside, cheap/affordable) just don't get traded. Not so much because the Dbacks wouldn't trade him. They're just not going to receive a worthy package.

Sox on Olivo
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 18, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) Better hitter? 2010 was the first time his OBP was over .300. If you don't like AJ, you won't like Olivo. If you value defense you will. Olivo is pretty much the closest thing to Yadier Molina in the game.
-
Sox on Olivo
We have no chance at Martinez. I'd love to get Olivo. We'd be above average or at worst average (can't say Beckham is above average yet) straight up the middle.

Sox Listening on Gavin?
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) Someone on MLBTR brought up an 3-team interesting trade. White Sox get: Justin Upton Rockies get: Gavin Floyd Arizona gets: collection of 1-2 prospects from White Sox, 2-3 prospects from Rockies. Honestly, that works out for everyone. Rockies like Floyd, Sox would like to add an OF, especially of Upton's caliber, and Towers wants 4-5 prospects in return for Upton. I would think the Sox would trade Escobar (since Drew might be on his way out soon), and maybe a pitching prospect of ours, Infante maybe since the Dbacks are seeking bullpen arms. Would you trade Floyd, Escobar, and Infante for Upton? I would. lmao. Kevin Towers would have to enter the witness protection program if that's all he could net for Upton.

Blue Jays acquire Rajai Davis
QUOTE (joeynach @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) I wouldn't have minded Rajai Davis in our OF. He plays great defense, has tons of speed on the base paths, plus I think his bat is going to continue to develop. He would look really good in RF this year, allowing the terribly UZR rated CQ to move to DH, and would then be a fine suitable replacement for Pierre's departure for 2012. We already have Rajai Davis. He goes by the name of Juan Pierre. One Juan Pierre is one too many.

Braves Acquire Dan Uggla
Love this move for the Braves. Can't believe that's all it took.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) You're going to give up Danks, Sale, Viciedo and Morel for Upton? Yeesh. I like Justin Upton as much as the next guy but trading that much talent for one guy is just too damn much imo. Ooops, I missed where he said Sale. Well I'd definitely give up one of Danks/Sale, Viciedo and Morel for Upton and another piece.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 03:36 PM) I would say that Arizona would be looking at Danks/Floyd, Sale (when he actually becomes eligible to be traded, which is not until like January), Viciedo, and Morel (because, while both are solid prospects, neither are good enough prospects to be worth it). Upton is a phenomenal talent, but he is not worth that, and I don't think the Sox need to be involved on this. They are just simply not in a position to be giving up whatever minor league depth that they have for a player who is still a bit of a project. You're smokin' dope or somethin'. I'd give up ANYTHING for Justin Upton. My mom, dad, cousins, whatever. If what it took was one of Danks/Floyd, Viciedo and Morel then it's a wrap for me. Justin Upton is a unique talent that hasn't even sniffed his prime.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Per ESPN: Congrats to both Rose and Deron (my favorite non-Bull) Deron Williams has straight pissed on all those that said he'd never cut it as an elite PG. They thought he was too thick? lol. As a black man, thick is never a bad thing.

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 02:07 PM) THere's a few players who surprise each year, but our depth is depleted from trades, promotions, and weak drafting until a few years ago (even then, Im still skeptical on some of our picks). To truly have a deep farm system we'll have to hold onto at least a few prospects and continue to build from the draft and development. Until we start allocating legitimate funds towards the draft, will continue to flounder. Though I will concede that at least regards to first round picks, and only first round picks, we seem to have turned a corner. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 02:10 PM) Actually I pretty much agree. We're currently working up our latest Top 25, and its... depressing. Not to say there isn't ANY talent, as any system has some, but overall its pretty bleak, especially for starting pitching above the A level. My apologies. Thought you were a minor league homer.

Slight change in road gray unis
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 01:12 PM) Without this thread, I probably wouldn't have even noticed. Same here. Think about those 80's unis and these are just fine.
