All I know is that either Detroit or Minnesota will get anally violated by the Yankees.

2009 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 03:02 AM) No doubt and couldn't have said it better myself. Wouldn't surprise me (shouldn't to anyone really) if they play out of their minds in the playoffs and wound up winning the W.S. in honor of Adenhart. I mean this is just terrific here. http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/media/vid...89&c_id=ana Even the final out when they clinched you have to feel good for them. The injuries, the passing of a potential stud pitcher in Adenhart, etc.. the Angels are a real feel good story. Them, the Dodgers/Colorado, I'll be rooting for in the playoffs. FYI: I called Morales exploding this year when givin the chance finally. I wanted him here for two years now, and knew he was gonna be good. Also Scott Kazmir was a brilliant addition late for them. Holy s***@that vid. I'm not one that gets overly emotional but damn. And I agree about the Angels being good enough to win it all. This is the best offense they've had since they won it all in '02. Their pitching isn't as good as it's been in past years. But Lackey/Weaver/Kazmir (I'm assuming those would be their top 3) is pretty formidable. Then you got Saunders and Santana, who's rounding into form, and you have a pretty deep staff. Bullpen is solid led by Fuentes. They've got a real shot. Hopefully they don't play the Red Sox in round 1 again. They're to the Angels what the Bulls used to be to the Knicks all those years we were winning titles.

Props to the Angels for winning their 5th AL West title in the last 6 years. It's hard not to feel good for them after the mess they've had to go through this year.

Rays to trade Upton or Crawford
QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) Yeah, it would be really silly of me to compare f***in' Upton to f***in' Getz... B.J. Upton this year: .238 BA, .308 OBP, .670 OPS Chris Getz this year: .261 BA, .324 OBP, .670 OPS They would be incredibly dumb to trade him when he's hitting like Chris Getz, as they'd almost certainly get more next winter. Don't be such a stat whore. Do you really think we could get anything worth a damn if we traded Getz? If the Rays traded Upton they'd get a killing.

Rays to trade Upton or Crawford
QUOTE (WCSox @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) Have you looked at his numbers this season? He's hitting like Chris Getz. They'd be smart to wait until he bounces back from shoulder surgery and has a better year, where they'll be able to get a lot more for him. GMAB. Don't compare Upton and f***in' Getz. Yeah, I'd wait to see if he bounces back. But I think even if they decided to trade him this offseason they would get a nice haul.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) GREAT final start for Danks! He and Floyd both showed this year that last year's performances weren't flukes. They still have things they need to work on. But other than injury, they should be productive starters for a long time.

Rays to trade Upton or Crawford
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 08:00 PM) The TB beat writer says there's very little chance they trade Crawford and most likely won't trade Upton either because of his low value but high potential. I don't believe for a second he has low value. At his age/cost/potential he would command a pretty hefty haul.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 08:22 PM) Wow... I thought it sucked being a White Sox fan. The Indians fans are miserable booing a-holes... We've won 2 division titles and a World Series title in the last 4 years. Why does it suck being a Sox fan?

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 08:14 PM) yes, KC will be good. I don't even think it's a case of "could be" but will be. I think Jacobs will be better and a healthy gordon and another year for butler...plus some solid pitching... Huh? Their rotation is a joke outside of Greinke. Well, Meche is alright. But he had a really bad year. Gordon is all hype. Jacobs sucks. All their top minor league guys all slumped this year.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:40 PM) I agree with the rotation. I've stated Peavy is KW's greatest trade ever. It will be interesting to see what happens this winter. Word? I figured you would think it was Contreras. I know that's my best KW trade ever.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) Its a small sample size, but Peavy has been lights out and before yesterday no other pitcher won a game since he had been in the rotation. It wasn't like they have been playing the best teams in the league and they were at home in must win games. Its going to take more than that rotation to win a championship. Think about it, Hudson will be a rookie, probably in the bullpen until somebody breaks down. Garcia can be a decent 5th starter. Floyd, hopefully his hip is something very minor. Danks and Peavy look solid, but if Buerhle has to keep being held back, at the end of the year what happens? The bullpen will be a key. Dotel has been told he won't be back. Jenks is up in the air. Thornton is solid. Pena has potential. Linebrink can come back. Hudson could be a solid piece. If the Sox bullpen is bad, they are screwed no matter who is in the rotation. I was messin' with you, man. I guess we can just agree to disagree. I don't feel like arguing today. I love our projected rotation. They alone give me hope for next year. I totally agree about the bullpen. I've just recently come to the conclusion that a bad bullpen = you ain't sniffin' October.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:26 PM) Because that's been the rotation the past 10 games or so and nothing much has changed. Its a nice start though. 10 games, huh? I take it all back. I'd rather have the Brewers rotation.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:22 PM) what the hell is going to happen with Josh Fields? Is he coming back to play 1b next year? They're not gonna bring him back to be a backup. He'll get moved during the offseason. I'm almost certain.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Danks one hit through five innings. He looks nasty tonight. How does one not get Richard Simmons like giddy when thinking about a Peavy/Buehrle/Danks/Floyd/Garcia/Hudson starting rotation next year?

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 07:12 PM) good. i still resent shapiro winning exec of the year in 05. They got some talented arms from the trades they made earlier this year. But they don't figure to make any impact for a couple years.

2009 AL Cy Young Race
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 11:18 AM) I don't know if I've seen a pitcher with a season like this in the past several years, and I really wasn't paying attention when Pedro did his thing. Too bad for you. Pedro's '99 and '00 seasons put Greinke's '09 to shame.

2009 AL Cy Young Race
You would think Greinke pitched for the Sox with the support he's been getting around here of late. Not sure Royals message boards (do any exist?) are showing him the love we are.

And That's a White Sox Winner !
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 28, 2009 -> 10:22 AM) I'm very sorry you feel offended by my post. My fandom was questioned therefore I responded not in a negative or sarcastic way but in a way in which I could express my thoughts. Obviously if you were at the game my original post was not directed at you . I was merely pointing out the the "play the kids" theme I hear is just frustration talking and inevitably will produce more of a losing team which in turn will not be as supported as a winning team. "Play the kids" is merely emotional drivel that fans come up with when the team is losing/underachieving. As if the veteran guys on that particular team are gonna have their feelings hurt or some s***. Ain't no fan on the planet gonna watch a s***ty team as long as they're playing young guys. lol. That's a joke. So I wouldn't pay attention to any of that. Far as the gamethreads, it's not a surprise. I frequent multiple message boards besides this one and outside of the teams headed for the playoffs they're all pretty much dead. Northsidebaseball.com has recently had 67 and 71 post gamethreads. Things will pick up considerably around November/December.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 24, 2009 -> 12:08 AM) I thought it was laughable that the MLB Network decided on the Phillies as the team to follow for their new Bullpen show. Maybe that was based off their '08 performance? They had one of the top 3 or 4 'pens in the game last year. It just continues to astound me how volatile bullpens are year-to-year.

Judging by what we see around here, were the only team in baseball that doesn't have the perfect manager, GM, players, ect.

Pedro
QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) Yeah, but J4L was saying that Penny was past his prime, like Smoltz and Pedro. That's not true; he's just been hampered by a serious injury history. Past his prime doesn't always have to mean age. Penny's stuff has fallen off considerably since he was the starting pitcher for the NL in the all-star game.
