  1. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 12:32 AM) If the bears could get Boldin for the 49th overall pick... they have to do it. I agree that you build a team through the draft... but who would you rather have at 49? Hakeem Nicks or Anquan Boldin? Massaqoui? Robiskie? Iglesias? or Boldin? I understand that Washington has tried and failed at that approach, but i think they went about it all the wrong way. I still think that when a an all-pro caliber player (in his prime) becomes available you have to give it serious thought. If the Cards will take the 49th overall for Boldin... lock it in and watch the Bears light up the NFC. **** Note -- I still think the Cards will get more than a 2nd for Boldin but you still gotta kick the tires and see if a deal could get done. I agree with all this. And I'm one that totally recognizes (and I probably overvalue them) how precious draft picks are in the NFL. But with Cutler aboard now, our priorities have changed considerably. If we can get a weapon like Boldin, who's only 28 and should have another 3-5 solid years left in him, you do it.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 12:36 AM) Why are the Sox so inconsistent compared to other teams? Why are the Sox foes in the Central also for the most part inconsistent? Look like world beaters a couple games; bottom feeders in others. Still too early to answer that question as far as this season is concerned. Last year was just a down year for the division. But let's not forget in 2006 that we won 90 games and finished in third place. It goes in cycles.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 11:14 PM) Nice and tasteless, right there. You do realize the kid was almost suicidal at one point, right? He's got a world of talent and despite my White Sox fanboyism, i'd love to see the kid realize it Oh give me a break. I was obviously joking.
  4. Kanny got smoked by Greenville 8-0. Daniel Hudson took the loss but not because he pitched poorly. He had allowed only two ER with 0 walks and 11 K's. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...87&sid=t487 WS edged Wilmington 6-5. Danks with an RBI double and a BB ( 2 K's). Brent Morel had a couple of hits, including a HR. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...wilafa_wswafa_1 Bham took care of Jacksonsville 6-1. Beckham with a couple of hits and a run scored. B. Allen with three hits (two of which were a 3B and a HR), while scoring two and knocking in another two. Viciedo still sucks, though he did have an RBI. Jhonny Nunez and Derek Rodriguez were both pretty dominant in relief. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...47&sid=t247 Charlotte with a stunning win over super prospect Tommy Hanson and Gwinnet. The best White Sox prospect you never hear about (Carlos Torres...and I'm not even sure he qualifies as a prospect anymore) with another dominant outing ( 7 IP, 0 R, 5 K's). Jayson Nix with a really good game as well. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...94&sid=t494
  5. I wish Greinke would go back to being depressed again. This dude is really, really starting to scare me.
  6. You know I didn't even know the Lakers lost last night? lol. The west is so lame this year that I just naturally assumed the Lakers would go 12-0 until they played the Cavs in the finals. I guess they'll go 12-1 instead.
  7. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) The draft is only > than the SB if no one you care about is playing in it. Don't try to say you would rather watch the draft than a Bears Superbowl game. Got me there.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) Actually I'll go the exact opposite. They string out the NFL Draft way too long. It needs to be cut down and teams don't need that much time in between picks, imo. I know they've already made some adjustments but as things drag out its pretty ridiculous that the first round takes as long as it does (than again, these franchises are making a big investment on these guys, however, with the months they have to do the homework I would think pretty much every team has lists to the extent that they know for the most part exactly who they are going to draft come draft day (although the ocassional surprise happens). So really the only reason you need time is for trades. Oh I definitely agree that the time taken between picks on the first day (the draft goes at a much quicker pace on day 2) is ridiculous. Other than that? The draft > SB
  9. This team has looked flat awful the last couple nights and three of the last four. I was hoping the impressive showing in Tampa was the beginning of a pretty solid run. Not sure what to make of Gavin right now. He's been great, awful, great, awful. And I'm so sick of this offense getting cut up by mediocre pitchers.
  10. Much, much more disgusted with the offense than I was with Colon. Colon has pitched well in 2/3 starts. I'll definitely take that ratio from him all year. Your offense simply can't get stymied by Adam f***in Eaton.
  11. Impressive couple of pitching performances by Cueto and Harang. This Reds staff is legit. If their bats live up to expectations, they'll be right there all year. And what about that Cardinals offense? Those guys can HIT! It's not just the Albert Pujols show.
  12. Never underestimate youth and inexperience against a proven champion (even without their best player). I think tonight was a true reality check for the Bulls and Bulls fans. Way too much hype after the game 1 win.
  13. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 02:00 PM) Tony Gonzalez traded to Falcons for a second rounder breaking news on the top of ESPN.com Good pickup for them More like great pickup for them. That offense has a chance to be pretty devastating. I also like this move from the Chiefs perspective. They've got no chance of winning for at least a couple years. Getting a second round pick for a 33-year old TE (although he's still a stud) is pretty good value to me.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 03:17 PM) anyone get as jacked about the draft every year as me? Cuz right now, I can't wait for it to start NFL draft > SB The SB has become one gigantic freak show. The actual game has become almost secondary. The NFL draft is football purists dream come true.
  15. I'm a little late. But happy b-day to the guy that started it all.
  16. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) We will take that challenge and run with it! A starting lineup will look like this: Collins Taylor Henry Morris Aldrich Bench Elijah Johson Morris Withey Thomas Robinson Reed Morningstar Little Henry Releford Have you and the rest of the Jayhawk crew submitted your thank you notes to Calipari?
  17. Anybody a subscriber to MILB.TV? Is it worth it? I can't take it anymore. I sincerely appreciate what guys like scenario and jpn provide us on a nightly basis. But it sucks not being able to really form your own opinion on these guys.
  18. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) OK...you're all right. Let's trot Marquez out there. All I'm saying is before you run Jose off...how bout you give him til May?!? Or is that too much to ask from this group?...nevermind. Not saying you should boot him from the rotation. But he should definitely be put on notice. You see what the Yanks are doing with Wang (not that Jose has been anywhere near as bad).
  19. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) 36% of voters say Orioles win the East. 36% of voters are idiots. OMG. They won't win it this year. But I've been saying for a few months now that teams better get their licks in now before Wieters and an absolute army of potential stud pitching prospects make their way to Baltimore.
  20. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 10:56 PM) Personally, I feel like we've got a good chance to lose every time Contreras is on the mound. It could just be me because I'm not stuck in the glory days of 2005, but either way I don't see how he's guaranteeing the team a solid chance to win. It's basically 50/50 as far as I'm concerned (although he had a ridiculously good May last year). You simply never really know what Jose you're gonna get.
  21. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) Please...at least the guy gives you a solid chance everytime he takes the mound. And I applaud his cajones for get back and ready as fast as he did. Except in three starts he's given us absolutely no chance to win. And the "Oh, man. Jose is such a godly warrior because he came back way earlier than expected" honeymoon is over now. He needs to step up.
  22. Unacceptable that Glen Davis is going 2003 Tim Duncan on us.
  23. Garrett Johnson with a dominating 6 inning performance so far (1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K's). Are the Intimidators playing a lot of weak-hitting teams or is the SP really this good? Good to see either way.
  24. QUOTE (YASNY @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 01:51 PM) I enjoy reading good reports on our minor leaguers as much as the next guy, but this seemed to be like he was looking through rose colored glasses. That's why I pretty much pay no attention to reports on minor leaguers by guys who are in any way affiliated with [insert team]. Manto makes it sound as if we've got 6 perennial all-stars in the making.
  25. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 01:33 AM) Sexy... thatz no faiur. bring it on came out in the eyar 2000. she was nice then i guezz. how recent is that pic? she looks like puppy chow there.
