Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
Bulls down 15 with about two minutes left in the first quarter. I had a feeling this was going to happen. Tonight is essentially a playoff game. This team hasn't shown they can win a must-win game yet. Edit: The Bucks are giving the Cavs all they can handle right now. Tied at 46 with less than two minutes to go in the first half. I don't think they'll be able to keep it up.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Dear Isiah Thomas & the New York Knicks, Thank you. - Signed, the Chicago Bulls and their fans I'm all for hanging Isaih's old Pistons jersey right next to Michael's if we're to land Oden or Durant.

White Sox vs. Indians, 4/15/07 (L)
QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 02:49 PM) I really hope this is in green. Excuses based on weather should be a bannable offense. Im serious. This is f***ing major league baseball. It might sound like an excuse, but offense is down all around baseball. The Sox aren't the only team struggling offensively.

And That's A White Sox Loser
QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) Honestly, KW deserves blame for this offense. Heading into the offseason, we had MAJOR offensive holes at LF, CF, and SS. Now, 2 weeks into the season, we still have major offensive holes at LF, CF, and SS. Firing Greg Walker will do nothing to change the fact that we start 2 OFs who hit like utility IFs on a CONSISTENT basis. I love KW, but he f'ed up this winter. Shocking statement: This offense will not get better until we get better hitters. Except our LF and SS have been our two best hitters. How about throwing some s*** at PK, Dye, Crede, Gooch and Pierzynski? We're simply not hitting right now. It's not just about tough LH pitching. We're not hitting anybody right now. Edit: Oh, does half of Soxtalk still hate Ozzie for taking Aardsma and Sisco over Boone?

The Devil (or Guillen's) Advocate (also criticisms)
QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) I don't know if you were around in the 80's and 90's or if you just jumped in 5 years ago or so, but I have seen too many mediocre seasons. Ozzie brought in a ring his second year, and has fielded solid teams since he became manager. Nothing you crybabies say will change my view. Don't worry about it, ranger. The Soxtalk "geniuses" that think they know everything are the same ones that were calling for Gene Lamont, Terry Bevington and Jerry Manuel's head at one point or another (assuming, of course, that they didn't jump on the bandwagon in 2005). What's funny is, that if you go by Soxtalk, Ozzie is the only manager in baseball that deserves to be questioned at ALL TIMES. Go to ANY other team's message board; there's always multiple wannabees questioning the manager. Joe Torre, Bobby Cox, Tony Larussa -- it goes on and on. To say Ozzie had nothing to do with the 2005 title is to say Bobby Cox had nothing to do with the Braves' run because he had arms like Smoltz. Maddux and Glavine. Or Joe Torre is a bum because the Yankees were loaded every year they won. Ozzie, along with Kenny, changed the culture around here. We went from a wannabe to a team that is now expected to atleast get to the post-season ever year. Do I agree with everything Ozzie does? No. Do I respect the fact that Ozzie is a PROVEN winner, and knows more about the game of baseball than I EVER will, yes. The season is 10 games old and we've got people hating Ozzie; saying he's a moron for going with Erstad. It's really silly. Erstad deserves a solid month before we deem him garbage. If he's hitting .240, or whatever it is, come May 1st, then you can question. Not after one 1/16 streak that has seen his average drop. The season is so young that he can go 3/4 tomorrow and raise his average 30+ points.

(Breaking News) 2016 Olympic Announcement
QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 14, 2007 -> 11:41 PM) As much as I want Chicago and the USA to get the olympics, and most importantly put Chicago back on the map.... this would suck for all Chicagoans when 2016 comes around. Me and some friends (assuming we're all alive then) have already made plans to go to Hawaii for that summer -- assuming we get the games. No way in hell I'm going though the mayhem/chaos that will come with the olympics being held here.

Is the Sox-Cubs rivalry the same for non-Chicagoans?
It stopped being a rivalry to me on the night of October 26, 2005.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 01:50 AM) Pods D is good? Okay goodnight everyone. He had been good through the first 6 games. That's what Ozzie said. Not that "Pods is a GG LF, it was way over his head."

You guys are so lame. Pods' d has been good this year (I know, sample size). Yeah, you can question the 9th inning of last night's game, but Pods had been playing good d to that point.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 01:31 AM) I blame the ball, how dare it hit Hotty Scotty in the melon. Doesnt it know that fat 13 year old girls with Mrs. Podsednik shirts who go to the cell would be destroyed if the ball hit his face. Thank god it didnt hurt his most prized posession. f***ing gravity, pulling on all objects till they rest on earth. I blame Gravity. I blame the fat dude in your sig.

White Sox vs. A's , 4/10/07 (L)
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 11:57 PM) Someone with an arm might have been able to do it. We all know that Pods had zero chance. No, with two outs, you're not throwing Bradley out in that situation. Maybe Konerko, but not Bradley.

White Sox vs. A's , 4/10/07 (L)
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 11:53 PM) Oh please he should have caught the ball with his back against the wall. He should not have been in the game and he proved in on back to back plays. He has no clue in LF. Back-to-back plays? You really think he had a legitmate chance to throw Bradley out in that situation? And I guess it's easy to say a catch should've been routine sitting at home watching on the tube.
-
White Sox vs. A's , 4/10/07 (L)
Yes, Let's blame Pods over Jenks. There isn't a LF in the game that was gonna throw Bradley out in that situation. And the last play wasn't exactly a 'routine' catch. Bobby lost this game for us.

White Sox vs. A's , 4/10/07 (L)
Man our offense sucks. Very similiar to the way 2005 started. I guess that's a good thing.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) Running wise? f*** yes. Considering how terrible he was on the basepaths for that period of time, I'd say he's was pretty ineffective as a leadoff hitter. Yes, from a SB standpoint, he was not the same from August on. That's far from "He tanked the second half." He had one bad month in 2005. August. Happened to be the same month he spent most of it on the DL. September 2005 BA/OBP: .337/.386 October 2005 BA/OBP/SLG/OPS .286/.397/.551/.948 I'd hardly call that ineffective.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(shoota @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 12:18 AM) Yeah, it is early, which is why I'm cautiously optimistic about Podsednik. If he does continue his good play, I'd like to see Guillen rest him often so he doesn't break down like in the second half of 2005. Podsednik's obviously a fragile flower, so Guillen needs to nurture it. Soxtalk myth.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 11:58 PM) It's still early by the way. Oh I know. Don't worry, Kalapse. There's still plenty of time left before you're forced to admit you were wrong. We all know how rare that is.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 11:55 PM) Not just you. Just about 99% of soxtalk including myself. And I'll gladly be on his nuts/eat crow, etc.. if he keeps doing this the whole season. Great win, Count way to man up despite the other things going on privatly if true. Your the man. Fixed. I'm basically the 1 percent who thought he would bounce back.
