QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) From what I've heard, KW basically felt forced to bring back Pods due to the asking price of Roberts/Pierre/Matthews Jr. He had every intention of not having him come back. Fair enough. Doesn't that kind of support what I'm trying to say? And go Bulls!

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) Yup -- you brought up the 33 at-bats. And let me just say -- 33 ABs > career OPS+. Fixed. ------------------------------- Gio has 13 Ks in seven innings pitched tonight. He must've struck out the side last inning. I wasn't trying to get loud about 33 at-bats. You know me better than that. All I was saying is that Pods was playing well before he got hurt. Would he have kept it up? I don't know. Would he have gone 0 for his next 35? I don't know. Kenny has said atleast 78 times that he expected Pods to have a better year. And he was doing that (I know. Sample size). But that's all we have to go on right now. Now if you want to say Kenny should've went in another direction because it was a lock Pods would get hurt. Fine. That's another argument. And will just agree to disagree as far as there being anything out there that would've made us better. And when I say better, I don't mean a smudge better.

OT: What's the Bulls/Heat score? My direct tv is out for some reason.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:41 PM) In 33 whole ABs? Really? Hurray Scotty! I know it's a sample size. But for 2007, what else do we have to go by?- White Sox vs. Angels, 4/27/07 (W)
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:43 PM) You're telling me you couldn't predict Pods injury? It's the 4th straight year he experienced "unrelated" problems with his groin. You're telling me you're surprised that Thome is headed for the DL? So we shouldn't have brought Thome back? Is that what you're saying?- White Sox vs. Angels, 4/27/07 (W)
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) This is a serious question? It isn't a joke? Career OPS + Podsednik - 89 Nixon - 117 And Caulfield -- he's not a natural LFer? Is that a joke too? LF is the easiest position to play. Career OPS+? That's your arguement? And it's half ass because he's only a part-time player. Well damn that Kenny Williams to hell for not jumping on Mr. Trot Nixon. No telling how good our offense would be with him on board.- White Sox vs. Angels, 4/27/07 (W)
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) Perhaps you've heard of something called OBP? Not to mention, that comes with some power, which Pods does not bring to the table. Heard of it. And Pods had one near .390 before he got hurt. Unless you're Mark Prior or Kerry Wood, you can't predict injuries all the time. Kenny took a chance that Pods could bounce back, and he was doing just that before he got hurt. Sorry, I fail to see how Trot Nixon makes this offense any better.- White Sox vs. Angels, 4/27/07 (W)
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:33 PM) Who do we want to win? I'm rooting for the Twins. Perez is great vs LHP, something we really miss. So we're the only team in baseball that struggles against LH pitching?- White Sox vs. Angels, 4/27/07 (W)
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:27 PM) Trot Nixon's been brought up multiple times. He would've been a great one year fit. Also, keeping Eduardo Perez on the roster and just having an Ozuna/Mackowiak platoon out there would've been pretty much equal to giving Pods $3 million. Nixon? A platoon player that can't hit lefties? How would he be any better than what Pods brings to the table? I keep hearing Eduardo Perez's name brought up. If he's so good, why is he currently unemployed?- White Sox vs. Angels, 4/27/07 (W)
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) It's amazing that I get singled out for this comment, as it's been all over this board for two weeks now. I know Tony absolutely agrees that KW is at fault for bringing back Pods with his injury history. Yet you, Tony, or anybody for that matter, can't come up with a legitimate upgrade that wouldn't have costed a ton in money or players/prospects.- White Sox vs. Angels, 4/27/07 (W)
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) KW deserves some blame also for not getting a new LF/leadoff man. Well, the one they brought back was hitting over .300 with a .387 OBP before he got hurt. I don't know why I always take the bait. Who else exactly was Kenny supposed to sign?- Thome to the DL
It was quite obvious Thome was in much worse shape than anybody was letting on.- White Sox vs. Angels, 4/27/07 (W)
I knew something wasn't right with Thome. It'd be nice if Chicago teams could just be straight up concerning injuries.- Official 2007 NFL Draft Thread
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 01:14 AM) Brady Quinn makes me hate him more and more with each interview. He essentially said he'd rather slip in the draft because he'd be on a better team with more talent and that hes not worried about the money. You hate him because he'd rather take less money and be on a good team?- White Sox vs. Angels, 4/27/07 (W)
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 01:11 AM) I heard the exact opposite. Ozzie said Thome and JD could have played today, and even yesterday, but didn't want to risk it. CSN also reported that Thome felt much much better. He said so himself in an interview. I think fathom is right. I heard on the Score that Thome's injury could be much worse than they're letting on.- Chris Young does something good (while not on the sox, f'in kenny)
QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) Chris Young update: .197/.265/.609 with 10 RBI so that stupid 'but he's getting RBI!' argument doesn't fly anymore. He's been brutal of late.- 4/26 Games
Another nice performance by Carlos Vasquez. I've been following him and Jacob Rasner. For anybody that's seen him (Vasquez), what kind of stuff does he have?- Caption this photo
Photoshop. That's MJ's head and Greg Oden's body, I think.- Observation on Brian Anderson.
QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) I don't like Ozzie anymore than you might like him, but i think anderson is horrible, I also think Ozzie was forced to take him on the team and now he is giving it back to KW and anderson himself. Look, i realize alot of young people like this guy, but he is pompous, irritating, cares about himself, his women, his dope, and his golden locks. He is not fitting on this team, and he will be gone, trouble is nobody wants him, and we have nothing better in our two bit minor league system at this point. The message is very clear, Ozzzie hates the guy, try workign for a boss that hates you. Its no fun and you are pretty much screwed, therefore you start doing things that would piss off your boss more, and care less for your surroundings. Human nature. He is a goner. How many times are you going to the same thing? We know you think Anderson is the worst player that's ever lived. We know you think every single minor leaguer sucks. Move on. All you're doing is post-padding.- 2007 MLB Catch-All Thread
Could the Cubs possibly be worse than last year?- Rate of Avatar
I don't know about avatars, but Kalapse had the greatest sig of the Soxtalk era. Intimidation has a new name. lol.- Erstad/Anderson MEGAThread
This team could really use Trot's .235/.316/.353/.669 right about now. Pods was playing well before he got hurt. Let's wait until his average is atleast below .300 before the cries for Trot Nixon begin.- No Witty Title
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 05:54 AM) Talk to me in 2 years when Beltre's hitting 35 plus and Crede's putting up mediocre numbers for Anaheim. I'm not sure anyone dominanted an entire postseason like Crede did. I'm still not sure where the Sox are at without Contreras or Buehrle or Garland or Garcia or Podsednik or Konerko or Dye or Pierzynski...get the point? and BTW, ARod says hi, just as an example Pods? You're giving Pods love? And pitchers can only dominate once every 4-5 days. Crede was our best all around player in the postseason. Do I have to even list the number of times he's come through in the clutch? I don't care who's argubly better than him. He's been an asset to the Sox. And lol@A-rod. He can't spell postseason. What are his numbers again the last few years in the playoffs. That's not to say Crede is as good as A-rod. He's not. But I stand by my belief that from September '05 through September '06; Crede was the best third baseman in the game. - White Sox vs. Angels, 4/27/07 (W)
