Favorite Childhood Sox Memory...
I don't have a single moment/memory. Just watching Frank Thomas in his prime, especially from 1991-94, was a magical experience every night.

5/24 Games
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 25, 2007 -> 01:12 AM) Crede's .221/.280/.302/.582 and 3 extra base hits from April isn't exactly exhilarating same goes for his .204/.220/.347/.567, 1 BB, 7 K, 3 extra base hit May. He's been pretty much the worst everyday position player in baseball offensively this season. I wouldn't have missed him one bit. You say that like you knew Crede would blow so bad before the season started.

Weightlifting Tips?
Steroids QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 23, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) I would like to start getting into some lifting here at home on the basic set we have, just to stay a little active. What's good for a 19 year old who is 5'10" and weighs (as of two days ago) 131.5? 131.5? WTF? Damn, Heads, you need to come through my crib. My mom will feed your little ass.

They're back!
QUOTE(fathom @ May 24, 2007 -> 12:28 AM) On Comcast, they said that's 6 straight times we've failed to sweep a team after winning the first two games. Also, I hope I didn't understand this right, but Ozzie said he put Garland back on the mound for the 7th so that he could retire one hitter and leave with confidence. I guess retiring the side in order during the 6th inning lowered Garland's confidence. Don't get me wrong. I'm not sitting here acting like taking 2/3 is a bad thing. I just hate the fact we don't seem to have any killer instinct when going for a sweep. It's like their content taking 2/3. f*** that s***.
-
They're back!
I had us losing this one before the game started. We're incapable of sweeping a team right now.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WIINER!
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 23, 2007 -> 12:20 AM) Just a fantastic night overall. Get the sweep tomorrow boys, just have a dominating end to a very good series. I've got a bad feeling about tomorrow. The Sox can't even spell sweep. I hope I'm wrong.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 20, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) Shaq at his best was definitely better than Duncan, but Duncan has been dominant for almost a decade now, so his logetivity of dominance is beginning to win out. If only Shaq had Duncan's overall work ethic.... Couldn't have said that better myself. Shaq had the higher peak. But as far as consistency/longevity goes, I think Duncan wins out.

Open for Discussion: is the offense awake?
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:57 PM) Is the offense awake? I think it's possible. Is the bullpen dead? I think it's possible. 1 problem starts to improve, another shows up. Argh. That's been the story of this team since the '05 playoffs. We just can't seem to get the offense, starting pitching and bullpen going at the same time.

Spurs up 1-0. Don't blame Deron Williams, though. 34 points, 9 dimes. Oh, is it safe to safe that Tim Duncan is the best player of this era? I thought it was Shaq a couple years ago. But if Duncan wins another one, I think he gets the title.

"This is embarassing" -Kenny Williams
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 20, 2007 -> 05:28 PM) You may hate me with a passion, but I credit you for being the only person here that actually understand when I'm being serious and when I'm not. Major kudos, that's not easy to do. You're all over the place sometimes. So it's hard to tell. And it's not like you don't have a history of starting knee-jerk reaction threads when things aren't going well.

"This is embarassing" -Kenny Williams
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:50 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AnLO...p&type=lgns I think he's overreacting. Everything will be fine. You're really strange sometimes. You say Kenny is overreacting, yet you just recently created a thread titled "blow the whole f***ing thing up"?

The Bullpen
Our 'pen has blown atleast 6 games this year. That's a ridiculous total when you consider it's not even June yet. I've been very dissapointed with just about everybody outside of Jenks and Aardsma (although the latter guy has been pitching like s*** of late). And I'm not one that was thinking "Golly gee, they all throw 95 or higher. They'll all most certainly be dynamite." Sisco and Aardsma have both had success at this level. Masset's stuff was supposed to be a "tick" below BJ. Thorton and MacDougal were supposed to be the guys to get the ball to Bobby. Both were electric last year. Both have, well, stunk this year. I'm very, very dissapointed with the bullpen.

Pods out for longer than expected
QUOTE(beautox @ May 20, 2007 -> 02:28 AM) simply awesome, we should've moved him to the rox before they got smart and traded for willy. Yeah, our offense would be so much better with Taveras. Not. It's amazing that Pods, one of like two guys that was performing well before he got hurt, is still looked at as the center of everything that's wrong with this team when every single position player we have has been average-to-horses***. If this team doesn't make the playoffs, it won't be because Kenny brought Pods back.

White Sox vs, Cubs, 5/19/07 (L)
Hard for me to feel confident against anybody when I know an offensive explosion for us is like 4 runs.

Is Joe Crede still better than A-Rod?
QUOTE(BearSox @ May 18, 2007 -> 12:34 AM) Just compare the 2000 and 2001 M's... no real major differences except the addition of Ichiro and Loss of ARod. There were a bit more differences between the 03 and 04 Rangers, but none big enough where they were a much better team overall. I wonder why.. I am also done with this. Good night. I don't even like Pay-rod, but you're being ridiculous.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 17, 2007 -> 11:26 PM) I hope Luol was taking notes. Luol's job this summer should be to learn how to play with his back to the basket. Learning that little hook shot would be perfect for Luol as he has those longer-than-average type arms that Prince has. I don't think Deng is ever going to become a great 'superstar' type player, but I think he can become a very good player like Prince is. I believe Luol said that was the one thing he wanted to work on this summer.

How good are the Red Sox? After taking two from Detroit today, they now have a 9.5 game lead over the Yankees. If they stay healthy, they're gonna be tough to beat.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
I almost wish we had gotten swept. That would've been a lot easier to take. I don't even know where to begin. As many have pointed out, other than Brown and to a lesser degree Deng, NOBODY showed up. Our backcourt was terrible. Ben Wallace stunk. We got nothing from the bench (Nocioni was the worst player in this entire series). We couldn't rebound. We were overdribbling (Kirk), and the overall ball movement was terrible. How many open shots did we miss? It was unbelievable. That was the really the story of the entire series. Also, I like both Ben Gordon and Kirk Hinrich. But if this team is to get to the next level, I believe one has to go. If you keep Kirk, then you need to go after a taller SG who can play BOTH offense and defense. If you decide to stick with Ben, you need to find a TRUE PG that's consistent in not only his decision making, but also in knocking down open jumpers. All our other flaws are obvious. We need a low-post scorer in the worst possible way. We need more depth, too. Going into this season, all you heard about was how deep the Bulls were. We're really not that deep. I assume Thomas and Sefolosha will be better in year 2. So that should help in that department. Anyway, good season overall. We made some positive steps in the right direction. This is a very big summer for John Paxson. It all starts with that draft pick (please god let us get Oden or Durant).

Whats our record with Sweeney starting
QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 13, 2007 -> 06:17 AM) Sox are: 5-2 when Sweeney gets a hit 4-0 when Sweeney gets an RBI 4-0 when Sweeney scores a run 5-0 when Sweeney has an RBI or run So basically, when Sweeney produces, the Sox win. Or maybe it's just coincidence? It's amazing how quick some are to jump on a guy's bandwagon (not talking about you, RME, just people in general), then tear them down as soon as they go 0/4 again. Ryan has done a solid job to this point, but let's wait a little while longer before we deem him the second coming.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ May 11, 2007 -> 07:57 AM) If Ben were just cold, fine. But he's not even getting looks, he's not shaking anyone. He makes dumb passes on the offensive end, and how many times does he need to get trapped in the corner this series before he learns to avoid it? At best, he's been a nonfactor on offense. Not because of luck, but because the Pistons figured out how to completely shut him down. And he's a huge liability on defense, no matter who he's guarding. Gordon is the main focus of their defense. They know he's the most dangerous weapon we have. He's the only guy on this team capable of going for 40+, and the Pistons know that. Ben is still playing bad. But what about Luol? It's OK that in 3 games he's shot 7/16, 4/12, 8/22? It's OK that he's gotten his ass kicked by Prince the last couple games? What about the golden boy? How many open jumpers has he either missed or passed up? I could've swore that was Billups dickin' him in the second half. I'm not even trying to make excuses for Ben. But I recognize why it's hard to bench him, even when he's playing bad. I do not have time to find the exact draft reports I read. But yes, they claimed that he could contribute immediately and that he was more ready for the NBA because he had played pro ball. Either way, he hasn't been that impressive this year. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 11, 2007 -> 08:39 AM) To call Thabo a bust is completely ridiculous. He showed more promise than Tyrus did in terms of being an all around player when he got a chance this year. I personally think they'll both be good players, although we may regret passing on Brandon Roy. I meant that he's been a bust for this year. I expected more from him.

Official 2006-2007 NBA Discussion Thread
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 11, 2007 -> 02:10 AM) Nice, too bad these situations aren't at all similar. When Ben Gordon is not scoring, he's a below average basketball player. He's a TOTAL liability on the defensive end of the floor. I'll admit to not watching the Bulls as much as many of you guys here -- but it's not just Gordon's height that make him a liability on that end. You'd think that, at the very least, he'd be able to keep guys in front of him. He can't even do that. I was amazed seeing Hamilton and Billups just dribble right around Ben. Hinrich, Deng... those situations aren't AT ALL comparable, seeing that those guys bring it to the defensive end. Hey, I'd be all for sitting Gordon for a while if we weren't so offensively-challenged. With Nocioni a complete non-factor, we've got 3 guys capable of scoring. Hinrich has passed up so many open shots it's pathetic. Deng has been at best "OK". Gordon has struggled. After that, we've got a bunch of defensive-minded, hard-nosed guys that have little-to-no offensive game. That's something Paxson must address. Everybody knows we need a low-post scorer. But another playmaker on the perimiter that can shoot would be nice, too. And I watch quite a few Bulls games and I can say that Ben is not as bad a defender as he's looked in this series. Detroit has the best backcourt in all the NBA. It's not like they don't do this to everybody. I see where you're coming from here. I just don't think there's much we can do. Detroit is just better. Anyway, let's just hope and pray the pick from the Knicks is good. More like first or second.
