  1. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 12:41 PM) Watch "Wait Til next Year" on HBO. I swear, it made me feel better and I'm not trying to be a Cubs hater. I watched it. I laughed my ass off. I'm definitely a Cubs hater. It made me feel better, too.
  2. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 10:02 PM) Tigers are not as good as the 05 whitesox, but I'll tell ya what, they look like they got the "magic season." Noone gave them a chance or believed. So far, they are looking good. But they are still not as good as the 05 sox. 11-1 in the playoffs is just too sick. Series ain't over yet. But it's amazing when you think about how s***ty teams like the Tigers and Cardinals played the last month and are now on the brink of advancing to the LCS. If only we could've found a way to get in. I don't think anybody could beat us. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) Didn't the Tigers make a run at Vazquez? I think Zumaya was part of the package, and Rogers most likely wouldn't have been there. I do know KW tried to sign Rogers a couple of years ago but really lowballed him so I don't think he would have come to the Sox. I think this series and of course the result of 2005 shows that pitching is so much more important than having all stars at ever other position. I hope KW spends every resource he has this offseason on the pitching staff. Alright then. I get what you're saying now.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) Kenny Rogers has come up huge. A great pick-up for Detroit last off season. Too bad they didn't trade for Vazquez instead, and KW signed Rogers. Really, really easy to say that right now. Props to KR, though.
  4. Tigers up 4-0. I wonder what Yankee message boards are like?
  5. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) He can't score on a double or they lift him for a pinch runner and you get him out of the game. Its a very solid move. Its too late for Gardy though. GMAB. It was a dumbass move. Why don't you just pretend it was Ozzie that made the move. I know Frank is great, but you don't intentionally walk a guy with two outs and nobody on base. Unless you fear him, of course.
  6. LMAO@intentionally walking Frank with 2 outs and nobody on. That, my friends, is fear. 5-2 A's now.
  7. QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 06:00 PM) it's just been hard to watch for whatever reason. Absolutely no offense and the NL doesn't exactly have a whole lot of star power either. It reminds me of the Eastern Conference in the NBA from about 1999-2003. I so wish the Phillies had gotten in.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) It could be a fun game to play: What's the biggest reason you want to get rid of pods? His defense in left field is the answer for me. I'll take the fact he's been thrown out stealing like 40 times since the second half of '05.
  9. The Twins just aren't made for playoff baseball.
  10. QUOTE(AirScott @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) Pods isn't a pathetic bunter, he could be better, and he should try to bunt himself on more. personally, if I were going to get rid of Pods, it'd be because I'm tired of seeing him strike out looking. There's quite a few reasons to get rid of Pods, actually.
  11. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) I have to say that Konerko has more than made up for a poor 2000 playoff appearance. And? The point was he sucked that series. Just like Lee and Ordonez did. But, of course, it's hip and cool to act as if Frank was the only one who didn't hit in that series.
  12. Still way too early to tell. But I voted 6th to 8th best. Dude is just special.
  13. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 05:34 PM) Gotta love how he shows up for a playoff game now that he's with another team. I guess the sun wasn't in his eyes this time like it was back in 2000. What exactly did Konerko, Lee and Ordonez do in that series?
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 09:48 AM) Once again, nobody is hating on Frank, its pretty lame to drop in the middle of a thread and have nothing of substance to add other than being a cheerleader. WTF you talkin' about? I'm one of the biggest Franks fans around. I've gotten into plenty of arguments with those who try to degrade Frank. I'm not gonna get into a pissing match everytime (and it's pathetic that it happens so often at a damn Sox message board) somebody wants to mimimize what he's done this year. That's pathetic. So I guess Pujols, Ortiz, Beltran, ect., wouldn't put up the same numbers they did if they were in the AL Central. Please. Frank is great. He's been blitzing elite pitching for years.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) Jeter only 5-5 tonight. You just can't get him out in the playoffs/october. No matter what you think of him, he's awesome this time of year, He's awesome all the time.
  16. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) Thomas did well against CWS, Twins, and KC. Did bad against CLE and DET. He absolutely killed the Sox. For comparison, Thome did terrible against Twins. A lot of HR's against. CLE. Did great against DET and KC. To me it seems like much ado about nothing with the AL Central comparison. Tell 'em, Badger. It's sad when Frank haters have to get so lame as to say he wouldn't do what he did this year in the AL Central. Frank is great. Period.
  17. Frank=GOAT (Greatest of all time)
  18. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 12:18 PM) ...we went through it together. As I watch the Cubs organization implode and their "wait'll next year fans" line up for tix to next year's failure, I will always smile when I think of all the fans here who absolutely don't tolerate the Sox for a minute if they don't think the Sox are giving it their all. Interesting that the most active days here seem to be when we lose one, because everybody wants to vent about how we messed it up. Because Sox fans here are knowledgeable, involved and don't hesitate for a minute to call bullsheet when they see it. And as painful as this season was, it was certainly some comfort to be able to log on and vent with all of you, or to celebrate the few bright spots we did have this year. I also must tip my hat to those of you who do the game threads; many times while at work (no TVs here) I'd log on and follow the game here on the edge of my seat (LOL when guys will post things like "Oh CRAP!" but not say what's going on...). Those are a wildly entertaining way to follow a game. I also take note that everybody here seemed to know the season was over two, three weeks ago. I think Oakland was when we all knew that we were done. I enjoy the fact that so many people here can call things like that accurately. I also enjoy the fact that there are no sacred cows here with regard to the team--who hasn't been thrown under the bus here this season at one point or another? So to all of you here and the mods I say: thank you. Thank you for 2006. Even though the season was like a firecracker that never went off, 2007 on this board was outstanding. Me personallly? I am over-Soxed at this point because the second half was so damn stressful--not fun at all. I take it back: last year's September Swoon was bad, but not as bad as watching the slo-mo death of the Sox this year over a couple of month's time. I look forward to being a casual Bears fan for a while. My Sox jersey's are gonna be hangin now, unused, for six months. I look forward to washing away the bad taste of 2007 and not being in Detroit's rearview mirror for an entire season. Thank you, soxtalk. Awesome post. I couldn't agree more. I don't know what I would do without Soxtalk.
  19. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 05:48 AM) I can't believe the Tigers brought Rogers in vs KC and he is going to be their Game 3 starter. That just shows how much they are pressing. Yanks sweep. The Tigers went 19-31 in their last 50 games. Talk about backing into the playoffs. So shameful that we couldn't take advantage. I agree. Yanks in a sweep.
  20. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) First half was great, the unravelling started after being swept by the Yankee near the all star break, IMO. GO SOX in 2007. It actually started against the Red Sox. They were never right again after that series.
