  1. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) how quickly ye forget. Steve, I've been around here long enough that everbody should know how thankful I am for last year. Last year was my greatest sports moment/memory in my 23 years on earth. However, that was last year. What has happened this year is just despicable.
  2. A win tonight and the Twins are all alone in first place. Who would've thought that back in May? God I love the 2006 White Sox.
  3. QUOTE(beautox @ Sep 19, 2006 -> 06:55 PM) Nice comments VAfan, i don't think the lack of post season is on KWs head, he asked all the vets in the club house if they needed anything to make a post season run, and they said no, he addressed his BP the best he could, Thornton and MacDougal are excellent pick ups, and he knew cotts and politte wouldn't be lights out but he didn't expect this, basicly everyone on the pitching staff from last year sans Bobby, Garland, Jose all decided to s*** the bed at the same time, its ok we've got the ring last year and the future is still bright for the Chicago White Sox. the AL Central is going to be GREAT for a long time, embrace it. Garland sucked the first two months. Jose has sucked for most of the last 3 months. Bobby started sucking when we needed him the most. In other words, they're all to blame for this season. Just some less than others, I guess.
  4. QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) Bumped for MVP candidate Frank Thomas I'm an A's fan for this October.
  5. One has to go. There's no way in hell we can keep Brandon in the 'pen for another year.
  6. Very good article. Just reinforces how terribly dissapointing a season this has been.
  7. QUOTE(SinkingShip06 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) /thumbsdown I love the avatar.
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) National League. Exactly. This team played its best baseball in late April, early May. We didn't look good again until we played NL scrubs. We've looked like crap since then. This team blows.
  9. I won't cheer this team for s***. This was a bust of a season. Period.
  10. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) 2006 Chicago White Sox, a season to forget. I don't mean to be negative but I hate to think what next season will be like. I have to blame Ozzie for part of this mess, which is probably the understatement of the year. I'll say this much: I'm not going into 2007 with any real expectations. I've been burned too many times, especially this year, when I actually expect greatness.
  11. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) booooooh I was getting all ready to see it expecting something nasty Man, I was hype. Other than Soxtalk, I spend most of my time at ogrish.com.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 20, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) It would be nice to see Joe take a few more walks and stop popping up. People keep talking about his .290 average, but his OBP is actually less than Podsednik's. Indeed. Joe has improved so much over the last couple years. If he can just exhibit a little more patience/discipline, he'll be one of the top 25 players or so in the game. I really believe that.
  13. 29-38 That's our record since July 7th. I can't even find anymore words to properly describe how bad this team is.
  14. LOL@Steff. You're such a tease.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) I'm actually looking through his game logs from '01 and '02 right now and I'm having a hard time finding these 42 innings of dominance. LOL. Because they don't exist. I remember him having a dominant start every now and then. But no way he did what Brandon did at the end of last year. Like you've said many times, he was EASILY our second best starter down the stretch.
  16. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) Dan Wright had a good 42-inning stretch too once... He did? Do tell.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 11:20 PM) Jesus Tony. BTW, the picture in your avy makes me wanna stab my computer. I wanna blow mine up. Only Jphat defended Pods more than I did.
  18. LOL@Tizzle bumping these old threads. And Felix owned my ass.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) Unless they get a big time makeover in the offseason, they still have a long way to go. You think? Their offense is still one of the best in the league. I like their rotation for next year. The bullpen definitely needs alot of work, though.
  20. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) Agreed completely. If not for Ozzie, the team wins at least 130 games and doesn't f*** up and lose that one damn playoff game. I'm with you. Ozzie has been bad this year overall. But blaming him alone let's the players off the hook. They deserve as much blame as Ozzie does, maybe more.
  21. Young and Anderson patrolling LF/CF for the next 10 years.
  22. They clinched that division like 3 months ago. Congrats, I guess.
  23. No disrespect. But this thread blows.
  24. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) How sad, the Indians are currently blowing out the A's in Oakland No way they (the Indians) suck as bad next year. The central is gonna be brutal next year.
  25. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) I honestly will not be able to watch a single minute of the playoffs this year. It's just different, I know it's stupid but whatever. This team has basically killed my love for baseball this year and I just won't be able to watch the playoffs. I see where you're coming from. I just don't got s*** else to do. LOL. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) I still think that Ozzie won't have as much 'pull' this offseason. I honestly believe that Kenny Williams is pretty pissed at a couple of things Ozzie has done this year, most notably how he has handled Anderson. I think Kenny saw what we all saw; a kid who was struggling at the plate, but who wasn't necessarily hurting the team because his defense was so strong. And then trying to turn Anderson/Mackowiak into a full platoon, when Anderson had been one of the Sox best hitters (I'm talking about a month ago), not to mention the defense. Maybe you think I'm foolish for saying this, but I'm 99% confident that Kenny will have a hold on what he wants done this winter, without Ozzie's ravings for Juan Pierre at $10 million per meaning a thing. I really just want this offseason to get there, quick. I like a lot of players on this team, but I hate this 'team' overall. Kenny can go in so many different directions. (BTW, I am aware that at this point, this post probably belongs in that other thread, but I'm not stopping here, so...) I think I'd prefer a 'retooling' offseason. Realize that Detroit, Minny, and even Cleveland are here, and there here for the long haul. This team, OTOH, might have just lost it's window by failing this season. Give Sweeney the reigns of LF with Anderson in CF; improve your defense. Maybe look for a new SS. Maybe look to get younger at second base. I almost hate to say it, but if someone still likes Konerko big-time, maybe Anahiem or Baltimore (last years bidders), see if you can find a deal there. Garcia is obviously gone. That doesn't mean giving up on 2007 altogether, but I'd try to do it the way we did it in 2005, starting with a top-notch defense. I think the pitching staff will rebound. This winter isn't the time to 'sell' on Mark Buehrle. Plus, it's on Kenny's MO to sell low. I don't think Mark is going anywhere. I think a winter of rest for Contreras will do him a lot of good. I like what I'm seeing from Vazquez, and I think all the people hoping to see him get traded are dreaming; he's not going anywhere after only one season. You gotta hope Garland has a better first half with improved control and a better defense, and that McCarthy can regain his touch that he had last September. Wow, long post. Long but good. I hope you're right, man.
