  1. LOL@the Tigers. They really don't want to win the division.
  2. The first half was real fun. No doubt about it. That stetch in June when it seemed as if no lead was big enough for us to come back from was amazing. The offensive explosion for much of the year was also a big surprise. I knew it would be better. Thome alone made it better. But nobody could've predicted Dye and Crede would have the years they've had. The pitching was actually pretty good the first two months. Jose was argubly the best pitcher in baseball through May. Buehrle was having another great year. Javy was doing a solid job. Freddy was OK. Jon was sucking. Overall, the starting pitching was pretty solid. However, what has taken place since July 7th has killed the entire season for me. There's no way to sugarcoat a team with this level of talent finishing in third place. Just can't do it. So much was put into this team with the idea of winning it all again. We failed miserably. I, for one, want to forget 2006 ever happened. But, I will say it was fun being on top for a year. I hope we get to experience that feeling again REAL soon.
  3. I'll be rooting for the GOAT (Greatest of all-time. Yes, I'm a biased homer when it comes to Frank).
  4. Way to beat the Twins when it counts.
  5. QUOTE(Allsox @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) Least the Astros went down into the final weekend fighting with no excuses, more than anyone can say for the play of the White Sox the last 3 weeks. They're like 3 games over .500. They're not that good. This has been one of the more pathetic year's in recent NL history. As bad as the Sox were, and they were indeed bad, they would've won like 103 games if they were in the NL.
  6. Spoiler? The Twins are in. We can't spoil a damn thing. They might actually be better off if they have to play the Yankees in a 5-game series.
  7. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 10:14 PM) I don't understand why people want to trade Freddy so badly. Take a look around baseball. He's in the upper echelon, but we need to get rid of him. Stupid. He's pitched well in 3 of his last 4 starts. Big deal. We've been out of it for weeks now. When we needed him, like the rest of our rotation, he failed.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) A TAIL OF TWO SEASONS 4/02/06 - 7/01/06: 16 GS | 111 2/3 | 9-4 W/L | 47:28 K:BB | 12 HR | 3.22 ERA | 1.25 WHIP 7/02/06 - 9/23/06: 16 GS | 92 1/3 | 3-9 W/L | 51:20 K:BB | 24 HR | 7.12 ERA | 1.68 WHIP I knew you would come through. God damn those are awful numbers.
  9. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) thanks. I didnt want to post anything for fear of 'rubbing it in' I gotta be honest. I didnt think the Twins would be in the playoffs around the all star break. I mean they went on that long win streak and gained just about nothing and I was just hoping for a decent 3rd place finish s***, rub it in if you want. I never gave the Twins a chance this year. If Liriano was healthy, it would be a wrap.
  10. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 02:03 PM) Buehrle was done for '06 after the Cubs blow out. I'd really like to know what his overall numbers are since that start. I think El Duque and his 59 years on earth has pitched better.
  11. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 12:51 PM) sixth best record in baseball. dont let yourself look bad just because you're disappointed. Like oh my god! The 6th best record in baseball? Sox fans all over the world should salivate. NOT! We finished in 3rd fricking place. We're 31-41 (make that 31-42 with tonight's pathetic effort) since July 7th. This has been a wasted season. Period.
  12. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 26, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writ...coop/index.html I love Frank Thomas.
  13. Props to the Twins and Tigers. As for the Sox? The writing was on the wall as far back as June. This simply wasn't a very good team. LOTS of work to be done in the offseason.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 24, 2006 -> 07:17 AM) This is a 39 year old with incredibly diminished defensive ability who put up a .809 OPS last season in the NL West I think I understand why people aren't all that excited about the prospects of having Luis Gonzalez in LF next year. Monthly Splits: April: .241/.349/.527/.876 May: .299/.381/.381/.762 June: .217/.330/.293/.624 July: .389/.448/.705/1.153 Aug: .237/.310/.395/.704 Sept: .257/.317/.419/.736 1 pretty good month, 1 outstanding month, 3 horrible months, 1 Timo-esque month. 2006 Vs Lefties: 169 AB, 3 HR, .260/.335/.414/.749 2005 Vs Lefties: 167 AB, 3 HR, .269/.359/.389/.749 So he sucks against lefties, that shouldn't be a problem I mean there's no good lefties in the AL Central anyway right? OPS Regression: 2003: .934 2004: .866 2005: .825 2006: .809 2007: .780's?? So it would be another season with a .700 OPS, bad defensive left fielder? Horray. Plus you're forcing KW to go out and find a new SS who can leadoff and there isn't exactly an abundance of those. Kalapse is always right!
  15. I find it troubling that most of this team's best hightlights came from the first-half.
  16. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Brian looks like he went back to April. He's looked pretty bad this month.
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) This is pissing me off so much. f***ing showing up to play when the season is practically over. Where were all you guys 2-3 weeks ago? This game would've been over by now if not for the delay. All their doing is beating up on a s***ty relief pitcher.
  18. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) Games back on boys. Trying to make a little comeback I see. 7-4 now... These guys have heart.
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 23, 2006 -> 02:47 PM) Wow, Buehrle has really become a joke. I wouldn't hesitate to trade him this offseason. I'm tempted to bump the infamous Buehrle thread. What a horrible final 3 months for Mark. I pray it's just a fluke.
  20. 29-40 since July 7th.
  21. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) Of course you aren't.. you've said it yourself, you are rooting against this team. Felix, what exactly is your problem? I don't think Tizzle is rooting against this team. This team has shown nothing for over 3 months now. Why expect anything from them?
  22. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) we are down 9-0 too the mariners.....forget i made this thread You're forgiven.
  23. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) I had trouble deciding who to pull for this October. The A's it is, though they may not make the 2nd round if they face the Twins. I'd expect them to handle the Twins with ease, actually.
  24. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Sep 21, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) whatever. this team won the world series last year, and is almost 20 games over .500 this year... take your ass to Kansas City, the North Side, or f***ing seattle man. OK? So because we won one title I should never in life expect anything positive to happen again? I'm not down with the that second place attitude. If you're satisfied for the rest of your life because we won it once, good for you. Keep watchin' your 2005 DVD until you're blue in the face. For me, 2005 alone is not enough. A team with this level of talent should atleast be in the playoffs. We haven't had any crippling injuries. So we can't play that card. This team s*** its pants when it counted most. We waited damn near 5 months for Detroit to fold, and what do we do? Play just as bad, if not worse, than they have. As great as last year was, and it was indeed great, this year has been just as dissapointing. There's no way around it.
