QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 09:43 PM) He was playing with prime-Wade and Spoelstra the first time the Heat gave up on him. And he was the #2 scoring option so he had the freedom to do what he wanted instead trying to carve out a role with three stars and several key veterans that were already a part of a championship team. He's clearly shown that he's willing to do what it takes to play smart, winning basketball throughout his career (I hope that doesn't need the green). lmao. oh please. they gave him up so they would have more financial wiggle to get resign Wade and get LeBron and Bosh. It had nothing to do with talent. gmab. Go back to telling me how Jimmy Butler is going to take the Bulls to the next level. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) Any of those guys are better options open behind the arc than Beasley taking his patented two dribble pull-up jumper with a hand in his face. The guy averages 14.1 PPG in his career on 12.7 shots. That's horrid. Oh, and that's the "strength" of his game. Oh, and now he's playing with LeBron and an elite offensive coach with zero pressure to live up to his draft status. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 09:09 PM) A lot of guys can score 10 points when their coaches let them take 10 shots. Spoelstra is a competent coach, so it's not likely that Beasley will play long enough to do that. If he does because of a blow to the head or copious ammounts of alcohol, we can all thank the lord that he's shooting the ball instead of Miami's numerous superior options. Maybe 10 years ago when Battier, Allen and Lewis were younger. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) Again, it does you no good to score 10 when you give up 15 on the other end. Yes, Beasley is just going to singlehandedly torpedo the Heat's defense. lol. Get over it. You're only hating because it's the Heat. Period. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 08:34 PM) lol. Get serious man. Michael Beasley is not going to give the Heat something they don't already have. The dude is a body to keep LeBron's seat warm while he wins games. The dude is a bust. The Heat have a 20 something year old double digit scorer off the bench? Did I miss something? Beasley's scoring could come in really handy for the auto 15-20 games Wade misses. -
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 05:44 PM) Well, that'd be 163 games...sooo....probably not. I got that. I remember seeing the same post last night. So whatever.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 04:41 PM) Last 162 games: 62-100 But remember--we're not that far away. Isn't it 62-101 now?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 01:32 PM) I don't think anyone has a problem with lottery ticket players. I just have a problem with idea that Beasley is a difference maker of some sort. On the Bobcats? No. The Heat? A team loaded with quality, take no s*** veterans, good coaching and an elite front office? On a non-guaranteed deal? Most definitely. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 11:31 PM) http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/beaslmi01.html Not really. He's been awful the last two years, but he wasn't that much better before. He's just not an efficient offensive player and he's lazy on defense. Not really what? I said solid. You might have a different definition of solid than I do. A 17.2 PER as a rook is hardly awful. If it is, Bulls fans need to stop slobbing Luol Deng, who is painfully overrated (though I suspect Jimmy Butler will take Luol's title). And the Bulls employ Carlos Boozer. That alone should prove elite team defense can cover up individual abominations. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 10:35 PM) I really think you're missing a big part of the point with Beasley. It's not just that he's a lazy screw-up, there are significant issues with his game that prevent him from being good. It's even worse if he's a "complementary piece" because he doesn't offer anything that your typical quality role player brings to the table. He's an atrocious defender, not a high-energy guy that will get you loose balls, a below average floor spacer (typically a passable percentage, low attempts from outside), he forces tough shots, basically never passes, is a middling rebounder and he has a pretty high turnover rate (the raw numbers don't look bad, but consider how little distributing and dribbling he does). Really his only useful skill is volume scoring, something the Heat don't remotely need. I'd honestly be shocked if he plays a bigger role than Rashard Lewis or James Jones did the last few years (two guys that played very few meaningful minutes). At least Oden fills a need if by some miracle he's healthy. I disagree completely. I will not deny that he's been horses*** the last two years. His first three years were solid, if not spectacular. 6'10 with the ability to shoot it and put the ball on the floor is nothing to scoff at. And the dude is 24. On the right team (he's on the right team) with the right coaching (spoelstra is a top 5 coach in the game) there's more than enough talent/skill for him to succeed - if , of course, he's got his dome straight. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 11:34 AM) I think really all Beasley offers the heat is a stretch-4 who can put it on the floor a little bit. Then again, with that team, they can pretty much put anybody anywhere and be successful Which is all they would need. They don't need him to live up to his draft status. Just to be a complimentary piece. And apparently it was Beasley who went to the Heat and said he had no problem with a non-guaranteed deal. So he wants to be there. It's one thing to f*** up with the Suns. You ain't comin' to South Beach and f***in' s*** up. First screw up, he's gone and he knows it. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 12, 2013 -> 11:47 AM) Oooh the Heat have Beasley and Oden, I'm scurrred! Not really, no one on the Heat scares me but LeBron. Take LBJ away and the Bulls beat them in 5, maybe even sweep. Yeah, well, LeBron's not going anywhere. And it's not about being scared. Oden eradicates their main weakness from the last two years if his knees hold up. History says they won't. Creative organizations try anyway. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Sep 11, 2013 -> 09:52 PM) I'm sure non-Heat fans are far more concerned about Lebron than a guy that hasn't played in 3 years and a guy that was cut by THE SUNS. Well, yeah. I guess you got me there. Point being there's no risk (money, years, team chemistry, etc) with both yet the return could be big. Beasley's contract isn't even guaranteed. So he knows from jump he could get cut at any moment. If he can't behave with the Heat, the number #1 organization in the NBA, then his career is pretty much over. Oden was courted by at least a half a dozen teams, including the second best (Spurs) organization in the NBA. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Sep 11, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) The odds of Oden's knees staying intact and Beasley putting down the bong long enough to make any kind of impact are extremely slim. Hell, Miami's opponents might be better off if Beasley DOES play major minutes, that guy is terrible. And those are the scenarios all non-heat fans better pray for. If the opposite happens - #3peat -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 11, 2013 -> 04:24 PM) Michael Beasley signs with the Heat. I wonder if they will be able to get anything out of him. His first few years in the league he had some major flaws and issues but he also showed quite a bit of ability. lol. What a f***in' joke. The Heat get another potential high-impact, virtually no-risk guy for free. They've got three max guys and they're now the deepest team in the league. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) He said: "Your quirks are finely crafted and your comments tailor made to generate frustration on the part of your peers." I will respond to that by saying I write my posts fast and furious. I do not spend a lot of time "crafting" my posts. I write fast and move on to the next topic like in the Filibuster. Let's face it. I'm hated because I LOVE Ozzie and most hate him. I won't write any more about Ozzie in either thread on here since people get so upset. Greg, I've been one to defend you in the past. But dude, 2014 is right around the corner. Find another cause.

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Aug 29, 2013 -> 06:15 PM) I do not post much and have learned never to respond to anything you say. However, if you are not a troll, then you are the biggest enigma in the history of Soxtalk. Your quirks are finely crafted and your comments tailor made to generate frustration on the part of your peers. You consistently express simple childish beliefs you stick to no matter how much they defy logic, or more importantly, how many times intelligent debate illustrates the glaring flaws in these beliefs. For a while, you were the mentally handicapped brother that everyone put up with as they felt sorry for you, as you had no control over your disability. I would almost be ready to assume you were real and just a simpleton with internet acces. However, when you talk about how you really are a smart guy and how you have a family, I am convinced you are full of it. You were like our Fredo, but the entertainment value of your posts has long passed. Please go away as your commentary only diminishes the value of this site and makes us all dumber for having to read your drivel. Dammmmm. I haven't seen ownage like this since Quagmire went off on Brian during the steak dinner scene.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 28, 2013 -> 12:55 PM) I'm much more excited for this season than I have been for any season in the Derrick Rose era. This is the first time pre-season in the Lebron-Miami era that I don't think Miami is going to win it all and I really think the Bulls can be the one to dethrone them. I don't know why. If they can get just 15-20 minutes a game from Oden and have him healthy for the playoffs (I know, huge if) it's more over than ever. I know if was over three years ago. But he was beastin' on the boards and defensively in about 22 MPG. Everything else has gone right for the Heat the last 7-8 years. I'm sure this will, too. -

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 10:33 PM) LeBron in the 80s would've been more of a banger (if he wasn't a clone of Magic), not the same type of player he is right now (unless he was a shooting guard and not a small forward). It was a different game then, different rules, much harder to get to the rim than it is today, different tempo, a lot more going on near the basket and post play was emphasized more. Jordan was the first to do that and he changed the game and left a lot of new standards and trends, and the rules of the game have changed which means LeBron's adapted to today's game different than he'd have adapted in the 80s. That said, when people say LeBron would be some kind of shrinking violet and he'd get beat up in the 80s or whatever that's really asinine. It's like they've never actually SEEN LeBron. In the 80's? I don't think so. You might have a case in the 90's. But definitely not the 80's. No way, no how. Have you seen those crazy ass circus numbers? I know the pace was faster. But team defense then was nowhere near what it is today. Watch any Heat/Bulls game of the last three years and then go watch an 80's game and get back to me. The Pistons were the only team from that decade that really emphasized defense (and even that wasn't until the late 80's), which is why they stand out so much. By today's standards, they'd be simply a really good defensive team. Not the GOAT status they've attained over the years. -

QUOTE (Boogua @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 12:45 PM) So question for J4L. If lebron would have averaged 45 a game in the 80s (more than mike) and if you think lebron is as good in this era as mike was in his era (and you think this era is better), is lebron better than Jordan? Apologies for rehashing an old argument, but I've been drinking so whatevs 45 ppg was an exaggeration. 40 ppg probably is as well. Just as the silly notion that MJ playing today would average 40/45 ppg or could score 100 points. LeBron would be every bit as dominant, probably moreso, in the 80's (inferior athletes across the board and drastically inferior defense outside of the Pistons) as he is today. No, I don't think LeBron is better than MJ as of 2013. Sorry for taking so long to reply. Apparently you can call respected mods f***ing idiots (Steve to Balta) and not get suspended. But I can get 30 days for laughing at something people think I shouldn't laugh at. I laugh at beheadings, too, by the way Soxtalk mods. Does that warrant 60 days? -

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 02:19 PM) Quite a few things wrong with this. 1.) Again, it wasn't stalking. 2.) Being told not to do it has no bearing on the case. 3.) You have no idea who initiated the physical contact. 4.) They never even brought up the SYG defense. 1: Yeah, it was. Maybe not in white folks land. But we know better. 2: I didn't say it did. He got ballsy because he had heat. 3: He followed the kid when he didn't have to. He called 911. Go the f*** in your house and let the cops do their job (I figure you of all people should get that). 4: I didn't say they did. That was more or less me pointing out the wack ass Florida laws that let wannabe dumbasses carry heat and then a catastrophe happens and here we are? QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 02:57 PM) I think its pretty he didnt follow this case. Just got the bullet points from whatever news agency he followed 16 months ago. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 12:03 PM) Well, if this happened in New York Zimmerman would probably be in prison, but in Florida, he didn't technically do anything wrong. Pretty much. Grown man stalks teenager (something he only had the balls to do because he was packing). Grown man is told over the phone not to pursue teenager but still does. Grown man initiates physical confrontation with teeanger. Grown man apparently underestimates teeanager and gets his ass kicked (again, grown man doesn't confront teenager in the first place if he's not packing). Grown man pulls out his trump card and shoots teenager. Grown man, who has everything to lose, makes up whatever bulls*** story that best serves his purpose. No witnesses. Stand your ground law. And the other party is murdered. Yeah, that's a wrap.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) I don't like it when people bring up Burress or Vick, they have nothing to do with this. Different states. Different crimes. Different evidence. I just thought it was funny. Forget about crimes and evidence. It came down to the state this occurred in. And the fact that the only person that knows exactly what went down was murdered.

lol@the Stevie Johnson tweet. STVN@StevieJohnson13 Damn, Plaxico Burress shot HIMSELF and got 2 yrs! This dude shot and killed another. Yet, he's going home to his sleep number mattress. Botched some spelling. But this was pretty funny and epically pathetic at the same time.
