  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 02:27 PM) Nazr showed himself to be a more than capable backup C last year, though it was clear he had to earn Thibs' trust at first. Hinrich should be healthier in much lower-usage role and will strengthen both guard spots on the bench. Snell and Dunleavy are both very legitimate options to offer Butler and Deng relief, so neither of Deng/Butler need to have freakish minutes. Taj is Taj, it would be great to see him get back to his pre-contract play this year with a healthier knee. I don't know how much you'll see Teague; I'm guessing you'll see more Snell than Teague. It'll be fine, as it always is. I shall never forget the mass panic about the dismantling of our bench last offseason, so I'm not biting on the panic button now. The players have never been good, that's why they are bench guys. Our coach knows how to coach them and how to use them in a way that hides their weaknesses and I don't expect much to change. Yeah, I'm down with this. Thibs gets the benefit of the doubt until one of his teams actually flops.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 01:48 AM) Okay, in the interests of board peace, let's just agree to move on. Life is too short. I guess the reason I reacted the way I did is because it has been frustrating the last month or so because it seems everyone has just given up on the season...and then to feel like you're being criticized for trying to add or contribute something (especially gamethreads that are only 4-5-6 pages long) or for still continuing to follow the team, well, I reacted honestly, so maybe it's healthier when we put all these issues out on the table. Anytime you name names, or don't name names, or leave someone out...feelings can get bruised. And maybe your post reminded me that perhaps it's time to take a step back and not be so involved (the whole tuning out until the trade deadline stance)...that there are lots of other things in life to spend your time on than bad/frustrating White Sox baseball. We've still got half the season left, so somehow we have to get through it together, yes? I realize my style isn't for everyone. There are some that like it, some that hate it, some that put me on ignore, it's all good. If you want to do that, fine. But don't let me or anybody play ANY role in your decision whatsoever. That's lame. I get more s*** in the NBA thread than anybody here anywhere. And I don't give a f***. I'm the smartest person there (besides brother quinarvy). Nobody will ever chase me from that thread.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 12:45 AM) I love how everyone forgets THAT THERE IS AN IGNORE BUTTON, lol. Why did the board owners put it there, I wonder? Besides TRU, have at it, you and J4L can help improve the gamethreads since I won't be posting in them anymore. I'm sure you will consequently find something or someone else to complain about. Personally, the posters I've enjoyed reading recently are Fathom, witesoxfan, southsider2k5, balta, jake and ultimate champion...heck, i would even have put Marty34 on the list, because his thinking is always counter-intuitive and he challenges conventional wisdom and can occasionally force you to rethink your position. Should we start threads about individual posters and dissect them? Really? What's the point of a post like this? Am I supposed to feel "bad" or hurt or upset, lol? As far as ripping on me, nss and kyle do it all the time, although they prefer obliquely mocking me. It's fine...but to think you're not allowed to rip on anyone is ridiculous. I ripped on j4l for ripping on me, there's a LOT more freedom here than you actually think if you want to pretend I have some kind of protected mafia don-like status like a mod at WSI. Thing is, I didn't even rip you. YOU ARE long-winded as f***. Just like I didn't rip soxfest. All of his posts literally are negative one-liners. I guess both of you guys stand out more since the gamethreads are so inactive now. I never said either one of you were bad posters. The ones I did rip are the clowns from filibuster. But that's another story. But I digress. This thread can get locked for all I care. Like I said, it's just not that serious. It was Saturday night, 3somethin' in the morning and I was wasted. Oh well.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 12:22 PM) We are throwing outa posteveryday wanting the team to be traded away yet we post disparaging comments about Sox players and evaluate their talent and play as below garbage level. Just who or what do you want in return anyway? Little league players? ok, like, what the hell does this mean?
  5. Rockets aren't messin' around. They've brought in Hakeem, Clyde Drexler and Yao Ming (Ming through Skype) to help sell themselves to Dwight. That's awesome when you can bring in past legends that played for you to help you recruit. Could you imagine Michael (even if he weren't an owner) or Scottie going out of their way to recruit marquee free agents for the Bulls? lol. Anyway, Howard/Harden/Parsons would be a lot of fun.
  6. lol. Dayum. Yeah. tizzle pretty much nailed it. You could tell by the time of the post that I was more than likely drunk and bored and just said f*** it, let's start some s***. I meant everything I said. But it's really not that serious. The mods are fine overall (sans wite, he's just terrible).
  7. I been here 10 years. I have to admit, I'm addicted to Soxtalk. I hate this board so much at times but I can't stop from logging in. 2003-2006 was the goldenage of Soxtalk. Everybody was cool, witty, funny, etc( I'm calling out Kalapse, qwerty and Felix for not bringing their knowledge to PHT). Gamethreads were so much better back in he day. Now gamethreads consists of Caulfields long-winded rants and soxfest one-liners. Terrible. This board site is in decline and soxtalk bosses must do something. This is soxtalk. Not Hawkstalk. This board should be about the White Sox 95% and like 5% everything else. Filibuster is a joke (lol@Jenks and strange, get a f***ing you boring dickheads). I'm insulted. The best thread on this board is the nba thread because of me. I want 2005 Soxtalk back. Mods, make it happen.
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 01:27 AM) Cheer up dude a Championship is nothing to be suicidal over. Oh yes it is. Hockey is terrible. Even the diehards don't understand all the rules.
  9. It is June 29th at approximately 1:23 AM (CST) and it's just hit me that f***ing hockey is the best thing going in this town/ #suicidalthoughts
  10. Alexei Ramirez is terrible. Get this tapeworm havin' ass bum the f*** outta here. He peaked his rookie year.
  11. If not for Chris Davis, another triple crown for Miggy would be almost a foregone conclusion.
  12. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jun 28, 2013 -> 12:52 AM) I can. Like I said months ago, he doesn't have a position. He isn't athletic enough to play the 3 and he isn't big enough to play the 4. You jumped all over me after I asked if he would even get drafted after he declared. It's understandable though. Sometimes team loyalty can be a bit blinding. Team loyalty my ass. Rock is a bandwagoning, look at my team, they're popular, etc, etc, etc. He thinks he knows everything about every OSU player in history and if you challenge him he'll mock you. Please. He ain't foolin' nobody. Thomas is straight garbage by NBA standards.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 05:55 PM) Do NOT panic people Get yo black kid from angels in the outfield (it can happen!) face ass outta here. This team is more done than Aaron Hernandez.
  14. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 11:55 AM) So the Heat winning 66 matters but the Bulls winning 62 and 50 in a shortened season (62 win pace, forgot to mention the prorating thing for the lockout) doesn't? I mean yeah, in the end what you do in the playoffs is what matters, but don't use something to build up your case and then s*** all over it when someone else brings up regular season success. Nope, it doesn't matter. How many 60 win seasons did those Nash teams have? At least two. The year Amare was out they still won like 56 games. They just weren't good enough. Just like the current Bulls. And they have more strengths than everybody else. I don't care about OKC. I'm not a Thunder fan.
  15. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) 1) They didn't "get smoked". The Heat won in 5, but every one of those games was relatively competitive. 2) Yes, the Bulls' have some injury issues. They're not immune to that, no team is. 3) They don't really need to "get to the next level". They were a 60-win team two years running. They were on the short list of contenders each of those years, though things didn't work out in the post-season (once due to catestrophic injury). They have 4 of the same starters and one of their key bench pieces from those teams, only now they have a young SG with some talent. 4) Butler doesn't have to be a star, he just has to be a threat. If he can average 12 PPG, that's a huge upgrade over the Bogans/Brewer type players. Danny Green isn't exactly a world-beater, but he just had a huge impact in the Finals. I'm not saying the Bulls WILL win, but they're one of the few teams that have the ability to go on a run. It's not like they're a 45-win team with zero shot. Yeah, so were the LeBron Cavs. But you know what, it's my fault. I shouldn't have paid any attention to the LA rumor. LA would be great here. The Lakers and Celtics make s*** like that happen.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 11:29 AM) Are you being serious here? Of course that matters. Sweeping every series to a title is different than being forced to go through multiple game 7's. The Heat are vulnerable. They're beatable. They had a lot of luck this go around which means they're much closer to being just a good team instead of the best team. Yes, because that's happened so many times before.
  17. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 11:27 AM) Let's not pretend that the Heat have played juggernauts every series. The Heat didn't play a legitimately good team either of the last two years until the Finals. This year, Milwaukee was terrible, the Bulls were obliterated by injuries, and the Pacers have a highly suspect offense. The previous year, the Knicks were roadkill, the Pacers were similar to this year (better offense but weaker defense), and the Celtics were horrible offensively. The last time they had an actual threat in the East was 2010-11 with the Celtics/Bulls, which they followed up with a loss in the Finals. They might have a much harder road this year, with the possibility of facing Indiana, Chicago and the Thunder/Spurs in consecutive series. Also, you can't really keep writing off injuries when they haven't been totally healthy either of the last two years. If they can't coast for two rounds and then face a team they can beat at 80%, they could go down. Again, how are the Bulls getting better? You get Rose back, great. You had Rose in '11 and got smoked. So that's obviously not enough. Deng/Noah get injured all the time. Boozer is a liability. Butler is a nice piece. But that's it. He's a piece. Stop talking to me about the Heat and their weaknesses and tell me how the Bulls and their much more obvious weaknesses get to the next level?
  18. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 11:21 AM) Jordan you spend an awful amount of time defending the Heat. It's your prerogative but I think a lot of people are seeing the Heat as a very vulnerable team. I would make a gentlemen's wager that they do no repeat next year. What do you mean defend them? They've been to three straight finals and are back-2-back champs. I don't have to defend them. But waiting for them to get worse instead of getting better yourself is the strategy of a second-rate franchise.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 11:19 AM) And I was referring to the finals So if the Heat had beaten the Spurs in 5 games instead of 7, they'd be more or less beatable next year? I just don't understand why it matters how many games it took.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 11:11 AM) The one hole in that theory is that Jordan's Bulls never did go seven games. The '92 Knicks and '98 Pacers disagree with you. And those teams were s*** compared to some of the teams the Heat have beaten.
  21. This is at Balta: I'm not pouting about anything. But the whole, "Well, the Heat needed two seven game series to win the title, thus they're more beatable next year" sounds just like what a 90's Knicks or Pacers fan would've said if the internet back then was what it is today. Who cares how many games it took. They won. That's all that matters. Waiting for one or both of Wade's legs to fall off does not suffice for me. I don't want to wait for the Heat to get worse. I want to see the Bulls do something now to get better (and no, waiting for that 2016 bobcats pick, that might not even be s*** anyway, doesn't count). LeBron James is here, in his peak, and is not going anywhere. You have to go through him now. The Rose/Boozer/Noah/Deng core is not winning anything.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 10:37 AM) Is "Lamarcus Aldridge" that other star? Doesn't even matter. It's not happening.
  23. Jimmy Butler is fast becoming the most overrated player in the NBA (far as Soxtalk goes). He's a piece. Not the difference. Stop it. The Bulls need another star. That's the only way in the 2007+ nba (and that might not even be enough).
  24. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 01:06 AM) I understand that The Heat won the ship this year and they are the number one team in the NBA, but if this season showed me anything is teams are closer than they have been before to catching them. The f***ing Pacers took them to 7 games and Spurs well we all know what happened. Not trying to discredit the Heat, but they are not light years ahead of everyone else. They won 66 games (27 game winning streak). They won with Wade almost crippled and Bosh putting up 12 and 7 in the playoffs. Is that the hope next year? That Wade is hurt again and Bosh continues to be a 6'10 Steve Kerr? That's just not good enough. That's loser thinking. You can't go into '14 praying Wade/Bosh will be as mediocre.
