Soriano Rumors: Part Deux
QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) I respect his decision to not move McCarthy. But Fields? Call me crazy, but it would not hurt my feelings if Fields was traded. It would hurt mine if we traded Fields for two months of Soriano. If we can't lock him up, move on.

Soriano Rumors: Part Deux
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) So the latest from Stark has the Twins and Astros as the favorites for Soriano. Says the White Sox' talks with Bowden are "collapsing" because of Ken Williams' refusal to part with McCarthy or Fields. Believes Soriano may very well not be moved until Monday afternoon. Good for Kenny. McCarthy is as untouchable as they come for us. As for Fields, I'm assuming they're not getting any assurances that Soriano will sign an extension with us. I think they would deal Fields if they knew he would sign. Oh, yeah, I'm gonna be extremely pissed off if the Twins or Astros land Soriano without having to give up Garza or Hirsh.

7/28/2006 White Sox v. Orioles
It's been a while since Freddy put back-to-back dominant starts together. We need one tonight. Badly.

Passan speculating on possible trades
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) We've been hearing this all year, and it's probably the same crap that Twins/Indians fans were saying last year. The Tigers are the best team in the AL Central, and have been basically all season. If the Tigers add Soriano, their lineup will be better than ours, their pitching will be better, and their defense will be better. Kinda strange to me that you have A LOT more faith in the Tigers this year than you did the Sox last year. You were the only one (and you turned out to be right) that said the division race wasn't over when the Sox were up 15 games in August. The Tigers are up 8 1/2, and you've all but conceded the division to them. Not trying to start anything. I just find that a little strange.

7/28/2006 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) Bedard is pitching for them? Yes indeed. He's been as good as anybody in baseball the last 6 weeks.

7/28/2006 White Sox v. Orioles
Eric Bedard's last 6 starts: 6-0, 0.85 era. I feel really good about our chances.

ESPN reporter regrets Soriano 'scoop'
I knew this whole thing was bogus when Kenny made it clear he wasn't giving up Bmac or Fields. It even sounded like Broadway was off limits, too. There's nothing else in our system that would even remotely interest Washington.

Buehrle
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) What a stupid post I concur.

Buehrle
QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) The bottom line is that Mark Buehrle is just not that good right now. Fixed.

ST Poll: How will the White Sox finish the season?
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 12:19 PM) Oh, I know that we likely won't be sniffing Barry Zito, and Guillen's going to stick with his golfing buddy and the flamethrower, I'm just saying that the solution (Mac-Vazquez switch) is right there, and so obvious. That's not really a solution. One, Bmac is not ready to start. I don't know how many times it has to be said. Two, we've got more than one guy struggling right now. Three, if you do switch Bmac and Javy around (something I don't think will happen), you create a hole in your bullpen. Unless you actually believe Javy would flourish in the bullpen.

Buehrle
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) He's basically just had one awful month. His ERA for the first three was 2.57, 3.18, and 3.89. It's amazing how a few brutal starts can kill your numbers. Given his track record and his performance earlier in the year, I gotta think he's going to come out of it at some point. He better. If not, no playoff baseball in Chicago this year.

No More Trades?
Kenny ain't foolin' nobody. If there's a deal or deals out there he can make to improve the team, he'll do it.

N Sync member comes out of the closet
Wasn't Bass dating Toopanga from "Boy meets world" a while back? Man, I guess if she can't get you into girls, you're a real flamer.

Teams that could be interested in Javy or Freddy
QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) I'd much rather have Mac giving us 5-6 innings of 4.5 ERA ball every 5th day than what he's been doing as a reliever. He's not geared to go 6 innings, though. That's the problem. This is why I never bought the "Well, if any of our starters get hurt, we can just slide McCarthy in there and be just fine" fluff we got all the way back in December when we first made the trade for Javy.

Potential other Sox deals
Whatever happened to SSH aka Jabroni?

Teams that could be interested in Javy or Freddy
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Well '5 Inning Javy' and 'Bombs Away Buehrle' aren't much help right now either so I'll take my chances stretching McCarthy out. And if McCarthy starts sucking because he's not anywhere near stretched out enough to start?

Buehrle
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) I couldn't be less worried about Mark. He'll be just fine 0-5, 26.2 IP, 47 H, 34 ER, 11.48 ERA, 1.92 WHIP, .392 BAA. Those are his numbers for the month of July. That's vintage Sidney Ponson for ya. I wasn't worried about Mark after the Cubs debacle. Heck, I wasn't even worried about Mark after getting lit up by the Yankees. But I'm defintely worried now.

Minnesota Twins Post Mortem Playoff Thread
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 08:48 AM) Contrary to popular belief amoungst Sox fans, Jose Contreras was far and away the best player in the second half last year, the guy just kicks it up another notch every year after the break after dominating the first half. You mean Santana?

New Line-Up Suggestion
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) Ozuna hasn't exactly been great during this stretch either, with a nice 1/19 in July. He also has been a bit better against lefties than against righties, and then there's that whole defense thing. Anybody with a brain knew Ozuna wouldn't keep that pace up. Funny, I don't hear anybody endorsing him to be our starting LF anymore.

Sox SP Turnaround?
QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 03:09 AM) The Sox are 2-10 in their 12 games after the All-Star break, 12 games is not a collapse. There are still 62 games left. 62 games. So if you look back 62 games to see how much can change, here are the records from May 16th: Sox 25-13 Tigers 25-13 Twins 17-22 The Twins had stretches of 3-12, 2-7, and 2-6, and look where they are now. I am not counting anyone out until after Labor Day. I have a feeling that things will be very tight in the Division come Labor Day. Oh, yeah, I'm by no means giving up on the season. That would be foolish. The talent is there. Guys just need to start earing their money.

Minnesota Twins Post Mortem Playoff Thread
QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 03:30 AM) A Twins watch? For what? According to most of this board at the beginning of the year the Twins should be the last team on our mind. No offense and only a few good pitchers! Why worry about the Twins, are you stupid? Well, in my defense, I never, ever dreamed Liriano would be THIS good. Nobody did. But besides that, yeah, I guess I was wrong about them.

Sox SP Turnaround?
QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 12:54 AM) when they were winning nothing bothered us. Speak for yourself. Even when they were winning, we were looking too much like the 2003/04 Sox teams for my tastes. Now that the hitting has cooled off considerably, we look like, well, the Cubs.

Sox SP Turnaround?
QUOTE(forrestg @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 12:38 AM) For us to have a chance we have to win 37 while losing just 25. 96 victories might see us to a wild card. You can't blame it on one person. Dye, Thome, and Crede are having career highs. Our bullpen, starting pitching and game plans aren't working. How many times last year did a ball take a funny hop and we capitalized on it. This year our opponents our taking advantage of our weaknesses and everybody is trying to gun down the champs. Welcome to the real world like it is in the East where Boston and the Yankees find ways of winning despite the fact that the lead changes so many times because of the intense competition. Blame it on one person? Not even close. This has been a team collapse. I've never seen a defending champion embarrased and outclassed like they have for these last 5 series. It makes me sick to my stomach right now thinking about it. Then again, I just ate 3 chili dogs with heavy, heavy onions.

Soriano Rumors: Part Deux
I'm thinking if we don't here anything new/significant tomorrow, this ain't happening.
