AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 5, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) We had a lot of this luck during our 2000 campaign. When it mattered though, we did squat. I hope we figure out a way to upgrade/improve on O rather than keep relying on our pitching/breaks to get us wins. Upgrade? We just need Konerko, Rowand, and Dye to start hitting like they should. That, combined with the return of a healthy Frank, will be all the offensive upgrade we need.

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ May 5, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) yeah but Shingo's ERA is tiny ever since that Cle game, no? I'm still not worried about Shingo. He's, for the most part, getting the job done. He started off slow last year before settling down and dominating. I think he'll be fine.

Talk about Hitless Wonders...
QUOTE(Capn12 @ May 5, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) Or, to play devils advocate...what happens when the pitchin returns to earth and the hitting still isnt there... That's the thing, I don't believe the pitching is a fluke. This staff is as good as any in baseball. I totally expect for us to finish no worse than top 3 in era.

Talk about Hitless Wonders...
QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 5, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) Look at this - from the Trib: "The Sox entered the game against the Kansas City Royals hitting .256 and a league-worst .219 with runners in scoring position. The Sox ranked second in the majors last season with a .291 average with runners in scoring position, trailing only World Series champ Boston." Wow. But then again, what does Hawk say? It's not what you hit, it's when you hit 'em. That just goes to show you how unbelievable the pitching has been. When the offense does come around, and I believe it will, this team is gonna be scary good.

Yanks lose again.....
What can they do? They have zero trade bait and zippity doo daa in the farm system. They pretty much have to ride with what they have.

What a great pick-up Nazr Mohammad was. I wanted him when it looked like we were gonna trade Curry/Chandler. He was always solid, but next to Duncan, he looks even better.

QUOTE(qwerty @ May 4, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) He is gonna cost the whole mle which means harrington is not coming back. What i would rather do is cut williams and reiner for sure. Then spread the mle around with raja bell type signings. Bell is gonna be very nice bargain player that can guard both shooting guards and small fowards. He is one of the better perimiter defenders in the league too with the ability to post up and shoot at a pretty high percentage. Then just bring in another big body just to have sit around in case he is needed. Once davis's and robinson's contract comes off the books we will be able to make a big spalsh in free agency. Nice, Qwerty. I never even thought about Raja. I wouldn't mind him at all. Do you have a list of all the free agents that will be available this summer?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 4, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) Seattle's a very good team but San Antonio is the class of the west, imo. The spurs will win in 5 or 6. Then the spurs will move on to face the winner of the Dallas-Houston series in the conference finals. I agree that the Spurs should win, but it's teams like the Sonics that give them the most trouble. To beat the Spurs, you absolutely have to have guys who can shoot from the perimiter. Seattle has that and then some. Also, Rashard Lewis has a history of s***ting on the Spurs. I wouldn't be surprised to see this series go seven.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ May 4, 2005 -> 10:02 PM) Q, did you see that Marshall was at the game tonight? I know he still has a home here, think there's a chance Pax tries to bring him in? Would've been nice to have a guy like him in this series. We're set at sf with Deng and Nocioni. What I would like to see the Bulls add is a big 2 guard.

Spurs with a 10 point won over Denver. I'm really looking forward to their match-up with the Sonics. Sonics gave them problems all year.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 4, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) Even if we can't pull it out, which I believe we can, what a great season it has been. An amazing turn around. Who would have thought in October that in May we would be pissed off over a heartbreaking playoff game? Look out Detroit and Miami, we're coming for you next season. True. But to lose this series after winning the first two will be VERY tough to swallow and a failure to end the season. But like you said, nobody expected this team to even be in this position. For the first time in years we've got a solid foundation. Hopefully we get Eddy, Tyson, and Duhon all signed.

5/4 games
It would be amazing for Malone to get back on the map. I was a huge fan of this guy a few years back.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ May 4, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) bulls didnt deserve to win when they are down 14 like the whole f***ing game, they suck, they need a miracle to win the series, and im telling you right now they wont win it Weren't you the same guy who said these Bulls were as good defensively as the 90's title teams?

Anybody starting to worry about Konerko?
I'm worried because Paulie is one of those guys that can literally dissapear for a month, if not longer. I hope he gets his crap together.
-
Anybody starting to worry about Konerko?
I don't know if anybody has really talked about this. But the last thing we need is another 2003 esque first half from Paulie, especially with Frank out. I've got to believe that at some point "I hope i'm wrong" that our pitching is gonna come back to earth a little bit. We're gonna need him to start hitting. Any thoughts?

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
More outstanding pitching tonight. It's a great feeling to know that if we score 4 runs we've got a a good chance at winning.
