Sporting News Article
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 02:28 AM) http://fantasy.sportingnews.com/baseball/v...a/20050213.html Interesting article, thought you guys might be interested. I don't think this was posted yet. Not a bad article. I really am getting sick of all this "power" outage talk I keep hearing. We have SEVEN guys who can hit legitimitely hit anywhere from 20-35 hr's. That's plenty of power as far as i'm concerned.

Karl Malone
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 02:22 AM) I'm not gonna get it through thick headed Jordan fans just like you're not going to get it through thick headed Malone fans so I'm probably gonna head out. I had fun discussing this though. Cya later. LOL. Fair enough. Have a good night man.

Karl Malone
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 01:56 AM) Also, if I remember right, I think Malone had a better year in 98, but Jordan was the MVP. I have no clue what Jordan's stats were that year so I'm not complaining about him winning it. I think it was the voters way of basically saying sorry for giving it to Malone the previous year.

Karl Malone
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 01:46 AM) That may have been a big reason for the MVP. But you have to admit those major stats are very simular if not favorite Malone. The assists thing just baffles me, you have guys like Stockton and Hornacek getting the assists, but Malone still got more assists than Jordan did. But whatever. I wouldn't read too much into the assists totals. Both players were fantastic passers. Pippen was the Bulls primary ballhandler, along with Harper and Kukoc. Mj, during one season, averaged 8 assists per game. Not hard to imagine him duplicating that if he was the primary ballhandler.

Karl Malone
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 01:22 AM) It wasn't a sentimental thing. If they went by that, Sloan would've been coach of the year a long time ago. But hasn't been yet instead. Jordan had a number of mvp's already and that year Malone and Jordan were both pretty even. Of course there's going to be a new change in blood for the mvp. But you do admit that Malone's 97 season was no different that any of his prior seasons, other than the fact the Jazz had the best record in the west, right?

Karl Malone
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 12, 2005 -> 12:57 AM) Thank you, you proved my point perfectly. That was Jordan's MVP in '97. You could honestly make the argument that Jordan was the mvp every year from 88-98. But like I said, they can't give it to the same guy every year. But I get why you're upset about Mj not getting it that year. He would be tied with Abdul Jabar for most mvp's ever.

Karl Malone
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) lol Barkley wasn't even 6'6". Plus I hate to break it to Jordan lovers, but Malone did have a better season than Jordan that year. Malone DIDN'T have a better season than Jordan that year. He had a great season, no doubt about that, but his 97 season was no different than any of his other years before that. The difference was the Jazz had the best record in the west that year. That was basically a sentimental mvp for Malone. They couldn't give it to Michael every year, even though he was the mvp and best player. The post-season more than proved that.

Karl Malone
Just reported on espn news. Wow, this is kinda sad to me. Malone was the last of the 90's legends to call it quits. The Golden era of Mj, Pip, Dream, Drexler, Robinson, Ewing, Barkley, Stockton, and Malone is now over. I never liked Malone as a person, but anybody would be foolish not to recognize that he is argubly the best pf ever.

Reggie Miller to retire at season's end
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Yep, I can't disagree with that. However, he was never, in any given year, one of the Top 10 or even Top 15 players in the NBA IMO. That sounds like a bold statement, but really, it's not. Reggie peaked in the early-to-mid nineties. Think about the 1992 Dream Team roster. Then think about guys who weren't included on that team: Hakeem Olajuwon, Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman, etc. He's one of the best shooters ever, but he's waaay overrated. He doesn't come close IMO to being a candidate for Top 50 in NBA history. I'm not trying to s*** on the dude's memory, I'm just sayin'. I mean, come on, the dude can't even beat his sister. I agree 100%. It's not like a "legend" is retiring. However, it has to be pointed out that after Mj/Magic/Bird, there hasn't been a more clutch playoff performer in the last 20-25 years.

Frank Thomas
QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) Does anyone know when Frank will be back? I have heard anything from opening day to July. Does anyone know for sure? I suggest you wait till spring training to get any new info on Frank.

Awesome Bulls Wallpaper
QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Feb 7, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) i like the angle where you can see jordan obviously push off russell, it amuses me as a bulls fan how blatant it was too Remember game 4 of the Indiana series that same year? Where Reggie Literally pushed Mj out of the building? If they didn't call that, they certainly weren't gonna call that light tap on the ass on Russell.

Nice article. Looks like Carl is gonna be ready this year.

Thanks Qwerty! The article is "as I expected" horrible. Our bullpen is barely better than theirs? Barrett over A.J.? Rowand in left? Pathetic!

Experts cooling the optimism
I have no problem with the so called "experts" picking against us. I don't see why anybody would. I really think this team is gonna do some damage this year. The fact that everybody is pickin against us will make it that much sweeter.

Cubs Sign Burnitz
Cub fans have to be the dumbest creatures ever. I was listening to the score on my way home from work, and there were Cub fans actually callin in trying to spin the Burnitz signing into a positive by stating that he put up better numbers than Sosa in 04. HELLO MORONS! HE PLAYED HALF HIS GAMES AT STATS INFLATED COORS FIELD. Burnitz is a HORRIBLE signing, especially at 5 million. I guess Hendry isn't perfect afterall.

Bullpen Article
QUOTE(Carlo Paz @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 03:37 AM) Hermanson’s earned run average was 4.53? In the National league? I'm excited about the team this year, but it has very little to do with this guy. Hopefully Ozzie uses him in blowouts. By the way, ESPN says that Koch finished the year with a 4.41 ERA and numbers almost identical to Polittes'. (Can that be true!? He must have been decent for FLA.) Hermanson's era was around 4.30 before getting rocked in his last outing against the Dodgers. He had been pitching very well as a reliever the last two months of the season, until that last outing. Also, I wouldn't worry about the nl/al era difference for a reliever, as most only pitch an inning anyway.

Outstanding win tonight! I don't see this team losing to anybody for the remainder of the regular season.

Rumors thread
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Excuse me while I fall off my chair in laughter... //Green Jim Hendry! Five million to a guy who probably won't even post an .800+ OPS. They definitely aren't going to be paying Burnitz five million to sit on the bench, so it could be safe to say that Magglio Ordonez will not be a Chicago Cub... I f***in love it!!!!

Breaking News: Rudy Tomjonavich to resign
QUOTE(Hall of Famer @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) It says its a combination of a dissapointment in the teams performance and health reason. Something juicier will likely leak out. That's what I read too. Looks like Frank Hamblen will take over the coaching duties. It will be hilarious if it comes out Kobe had something to do with this.

cubs new right fielder??
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 11:27 PM) http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/8150856 I love it. Burnitz was AWFUL away from Coors last year. He'll be lucky to hit .230 with the Slubs.
