  1. C'mon now. The guy's era is approaching 5. If that doesn't warrant 10 million a year what does?
  2. This guy wants 10 million a year? We just tied the damn game up, yet, this f***er goes right back out and gives it away.
  3. Thank you. I get a kick outta people that act like losing to good teams is no big deal.
  4. I still haven't recovered from that 94 season. We had all the pieces in place for a world series run. I remember Bill Clinton saying at one point that "this was the greatest baseball season in 40 years". Whatever. The more I think about it the more I want to :puke
  5. The Cardinals are weaker than last year's Royals? LOL. I don't think so. If the Cards have an 8 gm lead or better by the all-star break "which is very possible" they're in damn good shape. They're pitching has been outstanding and Matt Morris isn't even pitching as well as he can. They have without a doubt the best everyday line-up in the national league, a deep bench, a solid bullpen. Add to that they're argubly the best defensive team in the league. The Cards have a pretty high payroll. But now that they've proven they're a legit contender who's to say management doesn't go out and try and improve the team by the deadline? If they get another solid starter they could be the team to beat in the national league. However. I'm not sayin the the Slubs r dead. They have everybody back except for, Wood. But as you can see with, Prior. It's not that easy comin back from an injury and pickin right up where you left off. I don't care how talented they are. If they dig too big a hole their only chance at the playoffs will be the wild card. And that could be a dog fight.
  6. lol@this guy. How about you let them GET to a world series before u start predicting them to win a 2nd one?
  7. If there's anything that can get me through the Sox sucking, it's Cub bashing.
  8. Well we werw having a very successful season in 94. You know the rest though
  9. And that's why I started this thread in the SPORTSBAR. I've already bashed the Sox plenty in Palehose talk. Now it's time to bash the, Slubs.
  10. That's where Willie and Uribe come in. When those guys were hot we weren't relying on just the longball.
  11. With the loss tonight, assuming the Cardinals hold on to their lead against the, Reds. They will fall to SIX gms behind, St. Louis. Add to that they have a 3 gm series coming up in their dreaded house of horrors, Busch stadium. If the Cards do what they normally do to the Slubs at home the only chance they might have of making the playoffs is by the wildcard.
  12. lol..Clink the link man. It's a joke.
  13. Well. We were in a slump before before our recent five game winnng streak. Now we're about to match it with a 5 gm losing streak.
  14. Last time I checked the Yankees were 20 gms above .500 and had an EIGHT gm lead over Boston. That's a dumb comparision. Bottomline is, i'm starting to think too many guys on this team blew their loads in April and May. I hope i'm wrong. If not, we're in trouble.
  15. Don't put me in that group. I've at no point this season said the Sox were going to the world series. And anybody who's seen my posts knows i'm not one to panic after every slump. But think about it for a second. What if Willie and Uribe were just 2 month wonders? What if Schoenweis blew his load too early? What if Cotts and Jackson never recover? That's 5 pretty big holes right there/ You still think we have enough to win this division with all those guys playing like they are now? No way.
  16. I don't see how "character" plays any role in our recent slump. What does character have to do with the fact Scott Schoenweis totally sucks and blew his load early in the year? Or that Willie Harris has gone from looking like a potential all-star to a bum? Or that our entire bullpen outside of Shingo and Marte is struggling? Or that we're still without our best offensive player? And so on. We SUCK right now. Period!
  17. I've tried to be optimistic with this team all season long. Even when we've played like horse s***. I've always said to myself "will be fine". I'm not saying that anymore. Now this is what scares the crap outta me. Coming into this season we were relying on a lot of UNPROVEN guys. Guys that we were gonna need to step up if we were to win this division. Scott Schoenweis, Willie Harris, Juan Uribe, Neal Cotts, Mike Jackson. All of them were MAGNIFICENT in April and May. Therefore we played great baseball. June rolls around. ALL of them start coming back down to earth. As if their play the first two months was nothing more than a tease. Now here we are on July 7. Schoenweis is gettin drilled everytime out. Same as Jackson. Mr Soxtalk goldenboy Neal Cotts has been nothing but Horrible since that start against the, Twins. Willie Harris has gone from hitting .320 to .265. Juan Uribe is getting outhit by the guy we traded him for. Basically, what i'm saying is that unless these guys snap out of it we've got no shot. I'm sure some of you will say "Well Kenny will get the guys we need". Man, he's only human. This team has gone from basically needing 1 solid top of the rotation starter "which we got in Garcia" and 1 left handed rbi bat to us now needing another damn starter, a lead-off man, atleast 2 viable bullpen arms, and we still need that left handed rbi bat. I don't think any gm can pull that off. Hopefully these guys snap out of it. Or we're f***ED.
  18. Don't you mean a left handed power bat to mash tough righties? We have plenty of guys that kill lefty's.
  19. I think this team as is can get to the alcs. s*** is a lot more unpredictable in short 5 gm series. I could see Garcia, Buehrle, and Loaiza all pitching well. I could see our offense being good enough to take 3 outta 5 in a short series. Now as far as going farther than that. I still think we need another starter, bat, quality relief.
  20. That was a tremendous year. Man, did we have some serious pitching. The playoffs did suck. Lose 2, win 2, then lose the last 2. I was so excited about the upcoming 94 season. Little did we know that season would be shamefully wiped out :puke
  21. It makes sense to me. They're 2 gms out of 1st in a weak division. It makes no sense to trade your best pitcher.
  22. I can't watch this s*** anymore. I'll be back later.
