QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 07:05 AM) with the signing of Lester, now i more incline to get Bruce, only if the sox don't loose Anderson and Montas. a package of Hawkins plus. Lester signing with the Cubs shouldn't affect what the Sox do, but I'd like to see Jay Bruce on the Sox. I think the Sox would have to give up too much for him, though. I don't see a scenario where the Sox wouldn't have to give up Montas, Danish, or Anderson to get him.

I see Dan Uggla is looking for work.

Maybe Hahn is busy again today...Viciedo?

QUOTE (MnSoxFan @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:38 PM) Youkilis? I thought Youkilis was fairly well liked.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 04:10 PM) 5 years 120 million sound ok? I think that sounds pretty reasonable. It's a lot of money, but Samardzija would be getting that kind of money (maybe more) in free agency after 2015. If the Sox extend him now, there are no fears of this being only a rental.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 03:03 PM) What do you mean, the red sox rotation is gonna be good once they trade Mookie Betts for Sale straight up They can use the cash the White Sox send along with Sale to sign Masterson.

And when Eaton found out.

Bill Shaikin @BillShaikin White Sox add Samardzija, Robertson, LaRoche, Duke ... no, they're not trading Alexei Ramirez. Dodgers will have to find SS elsewhere.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 11:56 AM) I know Boston made him an offer. Curious to see how that develops. Supposedly it's a multi-year offer. But if another team offers more money on a one year deal, he might want to do that to rebuild his stock.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 11:36 AM) Worth watching today w/White Sox ... talks w/Dodgers. They talked Matt Kemp but both Andre Ethier and Carl Crawford fit w/LAD paying $$$. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/542365147734360065 I realize all three are owed a lot of money. Which one would be be the best for the Sox, not factoring in money?

QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 10:32 AM) And it seems like that thought gained a little traction overnight. We'll see. Rock did say that he thinks the Sox will extend him. Let's hope.

Sherman believes Sale/Samardzija will be second best LH/RH combo after Kershaw/Greinke.

Kapman reporting trade is official, and KW said the Sox hope to keep Samardzija long term.

The Red Sox have apparently offered Masterson a multi-year deal.

I went to bed last night when this deal was "on the verge" with the Sox giving up Semien and Danish+. I like this deal better, provided the third player isn't Danish or Thompson. Now hearing that Shark could extend is even better.

I think this is a case where the Sox should (and maybe will) send some money to trade a guy. Even if they sent $10MM with him, that frees up about $9MM for the next two seasons.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 01:49 PM) Anybody able to translate? https://twitter.com/ElFanaticoDom/status/542042535125078016 Jeff Samardzija podria pasar a los #Whitesox Could be traded to White Sox

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) I'd honestly be shocked if this trade doesn't go down. There's so much smoke. I agree. I would believe that there's already a framework in place, and they're trying to sort out the details.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 11:42 AM) Beane just giving players away this offseason Their top three HR hitters are all gone now (Donaldson, Moss, Cespedes).

QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 09:42 AM) So, I'm finding this thread to be a little redundant, is anyone else? Every rumor or murmur will have a topic thread created for it already. It's a good thread to post nuggets and rumors vs. starting a new thread for every rumor. There will be plenty of rumors and news tidbits this week, so this is a good place to consolidate. If a rumor deserves it, the mods can create a new thread with that info.

The Winter Meetings being held on the west coast means we have to wait a couple extra hours before the rumors really start flying. I have a feeling I won't be getting a ton of work done today...or any day this week.

I certainly hope he is extended right away if they trade for Samardzija. It'll be interesting to see what happens this week.

Love the Christmas season. We usually put up our tree the weekend before Thanksgiving, and I'll put up the outside decorations around the same time, weather permitting. But, the tree comes down the day after Christmas, and the outside lights as soon as possible. One of the traditions I instilled into our family was my family's opening of relatives' gifts on Christmas Eve. We've then started our own tradition for the entire day of Christmas Eve. We see a movie, have dinner at TGI Fridays, and then come home and open the family presents. A Christmas Story is turned on and watched, mainly in the background. Funny how traditions start. We started going to TGI Fridays because it's in the mall where the movie theater is. We thought they were closed when we first did this four years ago because there was no one in there. Four years later though, there are a lot more people eating there on Christmas Eve. Speaking of A Christmas Story, we visited the house where parts were filmed in Cleveland this year. The kids will think it's pretty cool watching it this year, knowing they were in the house.

Homeland has been one of the best shows on TV the past three episodes. To keep up that intensity for three episodes in a row was pretty impressive. Now we get to see Quinn as the badass we know he is.

Kidding aside, this board should be hopping next week.
