The official There Is Nothing Wrong With Peavy Thread
It's way too early to panic. And it's way too early to start the Peavy bashing. I imagine (and hope) that we'll see him settle down over his next few starts, and the ERA will be whittled down. If he's still pitching like last night after two more starts, then we can start worrying.

4/12 GT: Sox @ Blue Jays, Peavy vs. Tallet
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 12, 2010 -> 01:07 PM) Hopefully Alex has a big series. Four game series...let's see. 5-14, 2 BBs, 1 HR, 4 RBIs That would be nice.

Wonder what kind of reception Rios will get...if any.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
Sounds like the bats woke up a bit. Good news. Hopefully the momentum carries into Toronto!

The positive of 2010
Looking at the negatives right now would be very easy. There are some positives, however. The pitching has been good. Not necessarily stellar, but good. With some hits in the right places, this team is 3-2 or 4-1. Rios looks great. He's hitting the ball hard, which is something he didn't do at all last year. Konerko looks like he's on his way to another decent year. He could smack 30+ HRs. And, Quentin isn't hurt...yet.

Ozzie please resign, I know you can't sit through this again
I hardly think that 5 games into the season we could proclaim it over, but damn thing are looking bleak. I don't know if I've ever seen such an anemic offense. 4 or 5 more runs over the past 3 or 4 games could've resulted in a 3-2 record vs. 1-4. I know it won't be like this forever, but I'm a little concerned right now.

Standing Ovation for Thome?
If I was at the game, he'd get a standing O from me his first at bat.

Breakfast Cereals
Lucky for me I'm up and out of the house by 5:30 every morning during the week. If I had time to eat cereal in the morning I'd be much larger than I am now...and have fewer teeth.

Breakfast Cereals
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) I used to love Quisp. Anyone even remember that? I saw Quisp at Food 4 Less a while back.

Breakfast Cereals
One of the nice thing about having kids is always having a good selection of cereal in the house. And I'm talking about the good kind of cereal. Fruity Pebbles, Apple Jacks, Cap'n Crunch, etc. Thinking about that, I was wondering what the favorite cereals of SoxTalk nation are. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is one of my favorites, and I could devour an entire box on a Saturday morning while watching SportsCenter. But, one of my favorites from when I was a kid was the Vanilla Cookie Crisp. Why did they stop making it?

GAME THREAD: 4/8, CLE v CHW, 7:10pm CSN+
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) Getting nothing done against their mediocre bullpen was very disconcerting. Indeed.

GAME THREAD: 4/8, CLE v CHW, 7:10pm CSN+
One can only hope Jones is playing tonight in place of Kotsay. I'm a fan of Kotsay...off the bench. Watching the game last night angered me, seeing him hit in the 5th spot. Peavy didn't have his best stuff last night, but giving up three runs is not atrocious. The offense needs to step it up now.

LOST!!!!
I caught up last night watching the latest episode on my DVR. I agree that the Desmond episodes are always solid. I'm slightly more confused after the latest, but that's not a bad thing. In the alternate timeline, when he landed safely in LA, he was working for Widmore and had no idea who Penny was. But in the island timeline, he was already in love with Penny and was abhored by Widmore, right? Maybe I'm getting my times mixed up, but are we to assume that these are two completely different timelines, not just different from the time of the crash?

Winter/Spring 2009-10 TV thread
Deadliest Catch is returning this month. I wonder how they will handle Capt. Phil's death.

West Virgina mine accident
Terrible tragedy. My dad was a coal miner in PA for ten years before huge layoffs forced our family to move to NC. He's said many times that he'd never go back, even for the money...and he worked in a notoriously safe mine. I cannot imagine what those people in WV are going through.

THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!
I was at work following the game via SoxTalk and Yahoo (and got very little work done). I finally just saw Buehrle's play. Holy s***!

4/5/10 Opening day IGT. White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians
Very encouraging opener.

4/5/10 Opening day IGT. White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 03:06 PM) Buehrle at 95 pitches, I think I take him out here even though he is cruising. The way he's pitching he could pitch a complete game with 115 pitches, but I agree. Maybe give him one batter then pull him. Let the fans give the ovation he deserves.

What a way to pitch the opener. I think that honor goes to Buehrle as long as he wants it.

4/5/10 Opening day IGT. White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 02:58 PM) I'm glad I don't have to hear that. The Indians are a couple of years away at best. With Charlie Sheen wanting to leave Two and a Half Men, he can reprise his role as Vaughn and give them a chance this year.

The pic Yahoo uses for Kotsay makes him look like some drunk guy stumbling around the streets of Boston.

Kotsay can make a huge name for himself...at least for today.
