  1. Very encouraging to see his improvement at the plate after the adjustment. This shows me that he has the talent and was willing to listen to tap into that talent. I think a guy like Vaughn doesn't have the talent, to begin with, and doesn't seem to have the will to get better. The infield looks promising for the future with Elko, Sosa, Meidroth, and Vargas. Elko could end up being a right-handed hitting Adam Dunn (low BA, 30+ bombs a year), and that would be acceptable.
  2. As soon as Meidroth, Sosa, Baldwin, or Rojas go on the IL, Amaya will be back.
  3. The guy has been serviceable, aside from 13 innings last season. And he's pitched well in AAA this year. Relievers are an area where I don't mind seeing vets who could hopefully eat some innings and take some pressure off the starters. We obviously want to see the younger guys of the future as starters and position players, and if this guy can eat some innings and help stabilize the bullpen, that's great.
  4. Yeah...I tend to forget about him, but he's better than I thought. Quietly a pretty productive guy. Him at 2B, Meidroth at SS, Vargas at 3B, and Elko at 1B is a pretty good infield.
  5. All four starters have looked good at times, some more than others. Cannon and Martin seem like steady, #3 starter types while Smith looks be a true 1-2 starter. Burke, if he can get his walks under control, could be another solid piece. The bullpen has actually looked decent with a few bright spots. There's still no bona fide closer, but a team that might win 55 games doesn't really need one. Let guys like Vasil, Booser, and Wilson continue to get better at high-leverage situations. And, damn is it nice to see some young blood in the lineup and contributing. Meidroth, Quero, Elko, Baldwin, and Vargas need to continue playing most days. There will be ups and downs, but I'd rather watch them develop over other schlubs taking up space.
  6. Robert's base stealing has improved dramatically, although that may be in part due to the Sox having him steal more. Imagine if he could get hit like he did in 2023. His OBP is okay, considering his low BA, and he's certainly taking more walks this year. I just don't know what's wrong with his hitting.
  7. The Sox are 3-1 since the day after a Chicago Pope was elected. Coincidence?
  8. It's nice to see a veteran addition (Thaiss) finally work out for the Sox. He's been great defensively and not terrible at the plate. Lee might be the odd man out when he returns.
  9. Okay, ignoring the fact the City Connects are lazy, they actually look pretty sharp.
  10. Meidroth and Quero hitting the baseball. Love it. Close play at the plate, but I don’t hate sending Luis. And Vaughn kills the inning…as usual.
  11. Maybe Vaughn needs a phantom IL stint, like with Workman, to get Elko up for a while.
  12. Damn, the White Sox made this fanbase so miserable that a Sox winner thread turns into hate, insults, and sarcasm. Thoughts on the game, however: This is the version of Robert we need to see on a regular basis. Burke looked good after the shaky first inning (saved by Robert). Meidroth is back and already hitting. Baldwin is looking better every day. Vargas has looked much better since the adjustment to his swing. Obviously this doesn't mean he's fixed, and only time will tell, but there's a (dim) glimmer of hope for him.
  13. Must have hurt himself on that error, or the strikeout, or something...
  14. Wrigley is very accessible via public transportation, and there are countless bars and restaurants around the park that are packed before and after games. I went to PNC park last summer, and it's another park in downtown that has easy access via light rail (which added stops when the park was built). And there are plenty of places to grab food and drink before and after games. The Sox can have the same thing with a downtown ballpark. The park would attract businesses and create more jobs. Let's hope the Ishbias bring us a new park.
  15. It would be hard to be worse than Vaughn, so if Elko is called up at some point he'll probably look better than he actually is. He'll most likely strike out a lot and have some frustrating at bats. But, the fact that he hits the ball in the air, and his exit velocities are eye-catching, he'll be more palatable to watch than Vaughn. Getz's comments yesterday don't instill a lot of confidence that he will be called up anytime soon.
  16. I actually kind of like the uniform. It looks a lot better than the leaked pics from a while back. I like the black pants with the jersey. The Southside city connects will never be topped, though.
  17. The Sox have parted ways with guys they were paying before, and I believe Vaughn is a candidate to be DFA'd. But, it does make sense to send him down first. Personally, I don't see him getting better enough to justify keeping him. Elko deserves a shot, and he could add some excitement with big home runs. Vaughn adds nothing except frustration.
  18. What in the hell are you doing, Wegner? Hopefully starting a winning streak.
  19. If he can eat some innings, the Sox should absolutely try to get him. The SP staff is looking very thin right now.
  20. Hopefully Chase will be back soon. Better to give him the rest needed and IL him than have him be day-to-day. Let's see if Dalbec can keep hitting.
  21. I voted for moderate improvement, but even moderate improvement will seem significant.
  22. The Ishbias would not have abandoned their pursuit of the Twins and invested more in the Sox if there wasn't a plan. I think we can all agree nothing is imminent, but articles like this (and others) are written without knowing what is going on, and there's probably some White Sox "leaked" information that isn't 100% truthful. As someone else pointed out earlier, this team under competent ownership could make a lot of money. It's probably going to be a while, but I see this as a positive development.
