if all else fails put the lock on, then off, (hold button - whatever) and then hold it about a foot or two from the ground and drop it flat. make sure the surface that you drop it on is hard. then try and turn it on. if it doesn't work, repeat as necessary. you think i'm joking but i'm not. my iPod died but i revived it for 6 more months till i finally got rid of it. EDIT: note i had to repeat this procedure every few weeks. lol
