  1. QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ May 21, 2005 -> 05:42 AM) He got Danny Haren who is 1-5 with a 5.32 ERA, Joe Blanton who is 0-4 with a 5.08 ERA, and Kirk Saarloos who is 1-2 with a 4.79 ERA. :puke And I thought that Haren might have had a chance to have a promising year back in April....
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 21, 2005 -> 05:23 AM) I traded Barmes for Ben Sheets. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 21, 2005 -> 05:23 AM) Someone should remind Marcus he's playing in Atlanta not San Diego like his brother. Tell me about it.
  3. QUOTE(BobDylan @ May 21, 2005 -> 05:19 AM) You say that while using a Hawkism. I looove Hawk too, Bob.
  4. QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ May 21, 2005 -> 05:23 AM) Since the Sox are looking to win now, and rightfully so with the best record in baseball right now, they should really entertain the possibility of acquiring Zito and bolstering their rotation even more. I don't know, man. The numbers don't lie. He has had 3 quality starts in 9 tries this year. His ERA just flat out sucks, and his home stadium is a pitching paradise. Take a look at these splits: Home/Road He has given up 26 runs in 28 innings on the road.
  5. DJ is just a tad too corny for my tastes. I listen to Rooney and Farmer for the most part. I looove Rooney.
  6. He's Patrick Duffy's nephew Just say no to Zito.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 20, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) Clint Barmes is the s***. For real. I got Clint too...he's my starting SS. He's been unbelievable. Giles updated: 136 AB .272 AVG 1 HR 6 RBI 3 SB Fantasy stud I know he's had a bunch of nagging injuries, but this guy is supposed to be a Top 3 second baseman in the majors. I hope he turns it around.
  8. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 20, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) There's usually a hot flavor every month. Joe Mays might need to be picked up. Gustavo did go 18-2 in the minors last year, so that was a key factor in my decision to acquire him.
  9. Minimum: 45 IP 1. Pedro Martinez 0.73 WHIP 2. Roger Clemens 0.90 WHIP 3. Dontrelle Willis 0.93 WHIP 4. Brett Myers 0.93 WHIP 5. Jon Garland 0.96 WHIP 6. Johan Santana 0.99 WHIP 7. Jake Peavy 1.02 WHIP 8. Mike Hampton 1.02 WHIP 9. Erik Bedard 1.04 WHIP 10. Mark Prior 1.04 WHIP 11. Randy Johnson 1.05 WHIP 12. Roy Halladay 1.06 WHIP 13. Mark Buehrle 1.06 WHIP 14. Brad Radke 1.06 WHIP 15. Bronson Arroyo 1.07 WHIP 16. Jeremy Bonderman 1.10 WHIP 17. Josh Towers 1.10 WHIP 18. Odalis Perez 1.12 WHIP 19. Zack Greinke 1.12 WHIP 20. Bartolo Colon 1.15 WHIP *Matt Morris has a 1.12 WHIP in 36 IP Myers had a career 1.50 WHIP coming into this season, and Mike Hampton had a 1.53 WHIP in 2004. Before this season started, I'd have told you that both of them were suckers, but you can't argue with these numbers. I'm just trying to figure out what I'm missing. Bonderman continues to impress...it appears as though all of the experts were correct. Bartolo Colon with a 1.15 WHIP...who'd have thought that he'd actually be motivated to pitch up to his abilities this year.
  10. Never mind. He had a flawless April, but now he's had three straight crappy starts, so I had to cut his ass. I'm not alone, either. After his performance yesterday, one of the Yahoo league experts said that several thousand teams dropped him. Picked up Adam Bernero...I hope he can get the job done in Atlanta.
  11. 2003: 19 HR and 69 RBI in 551 AB 2004: 8 HR and 48 RBI in 379 AB 2005: 1 HR and 6 RBI in 132 AB Okay, what's up with this guy? Was he poppin' roids? Because I drafted him really high (like a dumbass, apparently) expecting some decent HR and RBI numbers.
  12. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ May 20, 2005 -> 07:11 AM) You know, I looked up Frank's stats, and I was surprised. I thought his recent decline started waaaay earlier. Not sure why. What he did last year at the age of 36: April: 1.065 OPS May: .991 OPS June: 1.042 OPS I mean, for a slugger, what's a more definitive stat that OBP + SLG? Like I said, Top 10 ever with guys like Ruth, Williams, Gehrig, Musial, Foxx, Hornsby, Bonds, etc. I have no idea how people could sleep on Big Frank. I expect it from casual baseball fans, but from Sox fans? It's depressing.
  13. The Dells are awesome if you go for just one day. Big Chief Go-Kart Park (umm, first and foremost) Duck Rides Paul Bunyon Restaurant !! Riverboat Cruise Noah's Ark Arcades on the strip Miniature Golf I go to the Castle Rock camping grounds, which is located about 15 minutes from the Dells. I used to stay at the Skyline Motel every year when I was a kid.
  14. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ May 19, 2005 -> 06:08 AM) Probably not the most popular opinion, but I don't think Frank is a HOF. I think his declining numbers in the past few years hurt his chances. First 6-7 years - absolute first ballot, but not anymore me thinks. Still can't wait for him to come back. What part of 10th highest OPS in major league history at the age of 36 doesn't register up there in that dome of yours? Like someone else said, just go away.
  15. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 18, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) lol I'm wondering how the raja bell man-love started too... He looked ok with his defense on the sixers and he's been putting up points on a weak, injury-depleted jazz team...His .61 steals numbers don't really jump out at me... Don't even pay any attention to his steals/blocks numbers. He's a Top 10 perimiter defender in this league who you can get for relatively cheap. If you don't belive me, get the NBA package next year and check him out. Honestly, how many times have you seen him play in the past couple of years? He was easily the best defender on the Mavericks, but he didn't get very many minutes because they play shoot-out style basketball over there.
  16. QUOTE(rangercal @ May 18, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) If we expect 9-11 ppg out of raja Bell = home for the playoffs next year. I guess your willing to give Tyson the Max? :headshake That's what he probably will ask for. Tyson sure looked great against ruffin, Thomas, and kwame Brown. There's no way that Tyson should get max money, because scoring is what puts asses in the seats. But if we expect to contend with Detroit, Indiana, and San Antonio over the next 3 to 4 years, we need some devastating defense in the paint. It can't work without Tyson. Imagine how crazy this guy will be in two to three years from now. In the long term, despite his lack of bulk, I envision him as a ranger in the middle ala Ben Wallace. Our Grant Fuhr, if you will. 9-11 PPG ain't asking too much from Raja if he's getting 20 to 25 minutes.
  17. The Yankees just won their 10th game in a row, all versus Seattle and Oakland. That's pretty crazy.
  18. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 18, 2005 -> 04:08 AM) Admit it...you miss Jamal! Holy Sweet Jesus, sleepy.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 18, 2005 -> 03:42 AM) He is, in my opinion garbage outside of shooting. I know few will probally agree but that's how it is. That dude belongs on the Knicks.
  20. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ May 18, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) Santo is much more deserving than Maris. Somebody else said it earlier. I haven't ever been to Cooperstown, so I don't know. But they should have a bat or a jersey or the ball from #61. However Maris should never be enshrined. They do have the #61 bat and ball on display in Cooperstown. I remember in 98 when McGwire asked the Hall Of Fame Committee for permission to hold Roger's bat or whatever. I just don't want the MLB Hall Of Fame to be a joke like the NBA and NFL versions.
  21. Vinny Castilla in 2005 Home: 58 AB .345 AVG 11 EXTRA-BASE HITS 15 RBI .415 OBP .655 SLG Road: 69 AB .275 AVG 5 EXTRA-BASE HITS 8 RBI .359 OBP .377 SLG Is the jury still out on RFK Stadium, or is it clearly a hitters park? I have some Rotoworld season preview guide that presumed pitching-friendly conditions. Wanting to bring in a new third baseman....there's nothing wrong with that. But come on, try again. Come up with another option. Vinny Castilla was horrible away from Coors last year with some isolated power here and there (big freaking deal). You like Jeromy Burnitz too?
  22. It's all about longevity, unfortunately. Maris was phenomenal for half a decade. Honestly, Ron Santo had a better career, and he doesn't deserve to get in. Someone like Ichiro will be an exception because he wrecked shop in Japan for so many years. Think in terms of all the great Negro League players like Josh Gibson, Cool Papa Bell, Oscar Charleston, Pop Lloyd, Satchell Paige, Martin Dihigo, etc. They never played in the majors, but they're all enshrined.
