  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) I would do 1 of the following 2: 1) Draft Edwards/ Mike Williams with the 4th pick or 2) Trade down for 2 1st rounders and choose Mike Williams with the 1st and the best OL or LB available with the 2nd 1st rounder. We no longer need to use that pick on a WR...that would be like an Arizona Cardinals type decision, IMO. I'd feel much better if we brought in an all pro caliber RB (Brown or Benson), or that freak LB outta Texas. The history of this franchise revolves around excellent running backs and devastating linebackers...I'd like to see us keep it that way. That's Bears football, mang. I know that Boers and Bernstein would probably tear me a new one if I called up and said that, but I couldn't care less. There's a lot of truth to that.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 06:19 AM) Good to see Delonte West had a good game as well. Al Jefferson shows what he's capable of in 12 minutes on the floor going 4-4. No question about it. They should give those guys (especially Jefferson) as many minutes as possible.
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 06:17 AM) He did have a rare night tonight though shooting wise. 10-18 or something like that. Rare indeed. He's been absolutely brutal from the field all month, especially on the road.
  4. QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 26, 2005 -> 05:37 AM) 24 and 10 in his first game What a terrrrrrrible trade, huh. He does that every single game, so what? Antoine Walker's Game Log I thought we already established that there are players in this league who fill up box scores, but are not winners. I'm sure you realize that, but you're just looking for any possible reason to defend a Boston team/player.
  5. The guy's a meathead, of course, but I found this quote rather amusing:
  6. QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 05:30 AM) Toine will play more than Al. Raef can play center on occasion (Blount sucks). Davis continues to come off the bench at the 3. No big problems. Is it that Blount sucks because he's not in a position to succeed? Because the general consensus is that he's a damn good on-the-ball interior defender who can give you some rebounding. I think that Al Jefferson should be getting between 20 and 25 minutes per game. That won't happen if Antoine plays some PF.
  7. QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 05:28 AM) 20-9-4 3 time all star the end Marbury puts up mind-boggling numbers, but that doesn't mean he's a winner.
  8. QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 05:22 AM) Oh whoops I didn't mean to call DBAH0 a dumbass, I thought he got it from some other site. Anyway this isn't a big deal as far as Ricky is concerned. Antoine can play either the 3 or the 4. About the 4.... Ain't that strictly Raef and Big Al? I can't see Walker getting any minutes there. Also, Davis can't take any minutes away from Pierce or Allen.
  9. QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 05:11 AM) There's so many things I could say, but I'll leave it at... I'll take career stats of 20-9-4 per game any day. Well, I'd like to hear all of these things. I don't come across too many positive reviews of Antoine Walker. Most of them are similar to this one:
  10. QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 04:20 AM) Someone tell this dumbass that Jiri Welsch also got traded, and Ricky was coming off of the bench to begin with. Ricky Davis gets 31.4 minutes per game on average. Welsch received about 20 minutes per game. I could see why DBAHO would think that Davis won't be happy with Walker on board.
  11. Holy s***, my given name is as popular now as ever. Karl (656 overall) I also go by: Chuck (Not in the Top 1000) Charles (59th Overall) Charlie (372 Overall) Chaz (801 Overall) I got so many freaking names. Why couldn't my parents have just named me Jim, or Mike, or Stanley?
  12. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 02:10 AM) A summary of my thoughts; WINNERS: San Antonio - Getting Nazr Mohammed for only a 1st round pick, that'll be in the 25-29 range and the long term deal of Malik Rose was a great move. Even though it could hurt their chemistry, Mohammed when he plays at his best (even though he is inconsistent) is an upgrade over Nesterovic. Golden State - A week ago it didn't look like they were going to be able trade Dale Davis's expiring contract and they would have just kept him and gotten the cap space. Now they trade him along with Speedy Clayton for a top 5 PG in this league easily when healthy. They're still stuck with some horrible long - term deals (Foyle and Fisher), but at least they've got some hope now. It'll be interesting to see what they do with Mike Dunleavy this off-season. Atlanta - Losing Walker in the short term will hurt no doubt, but frankly who cares. They should be losing games to get as many ping pong balls as possible, and trading Walker will alow Childress, Smith and Harrington all to start, which they need to do. Bogut or Chris Paul will probably be wearing a Hawks uniform in 2006. There have been rumors of Harrington being shopped though. Philly - Chris Webber is the perfect big man to pair with Allen Iverson. He won't clog the inside, and Iverson can drive inside and dish to him outside the free throw line, so C-Webb can hit jumpers. Short - term the 76'ers look dangerous. If Samuel Dalembert can start playing to his best in the playoffs, this is one team I really wouldn't want to face. WAIT AND SEE: Sacramento - Losing Webber hurts no doubt, but it's too early to judge. Geoff Petrie isn't a dumb ass (he stole Cuttino Mobley from us). Peja will probably get back to his best with no Webber around, and this will help their chances of re-signing him instead of Peja bolting to the Lakers when his deal is up. New Orleans - Probably an early loser for now, although Baron has hardly played this season, so it's not like they'll miss him on that regard. $22 million of salaries will come off the books for Davis and the Big Dog Glenn Robinson alone. The Hornets have to sign a major free agent this off-season (probably can't be a guard, a SF or PF most likely, or maybe Ilgauskas if they want to move Magliore to PF) to make this deal work. LOSERS: New York - Isiah Thomas must seriously be on very thin ice right about now. You do not trade contracts that expire sooner, for heavier contracts that expire 2 or 3 years afterwards for pretty much the same players going either way, for some draft picks that are going to be in the early 20's at best. I don't get the Mohammed for Rose trade at all, they've already got a little bigger version of Rose in Kurt Thomas. Taking on Mo Taylor could stunt Mike Sweetney's growth in the long - term if they play him as well. Boston - Doc Rivers, your locker room bickering just up about 95%. Ricky Davis can't be happy about this. Tell me this, how are they going to find shots for players not named Paul Pierce or Antoine Walker. Jim O'Brien almost made it work, but quit trying. Unless they can get Gary Payton back (he could be headed to Minny or Seattle), the Celtics are going to get owned at the PG position in the playoffs. Rivers is a great motivator, but I don't think he's a good enough X's and O's coach to make this work. Excellent analysis. The Hawks are gonna have some major cap space in addition to a Top 3 pick next year to go along with Harrington, Smith, and Childress. They're finally back on the right path after like 20 years.
  13. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) Rumor has it the hawks will cut payton and he will resign with the celtics. Come own back, stop-gap!
  14. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Um, didn't ainge just talk s*** about walker a year or two ago? Right after he traded him away. Yeah, I remember that. Also, unless I'm missing something, this is going to put a lot of pressure on Delonte West and Marcus Banks. Payton was a good stop-gap. I dunno if Marcus Banks is much of a point guard. He could play a little defense, but that's about it.
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) Ainge=Kenny Williams? That's actually a major insult to Kenny Williams, seeing as how Danny Ainge is borderline retarded. You can't win with Antoine Walker. This makes the Celtics a better team in the short term, but that franchise should be thinking strictly long term at this point. You're gonna hear all of the old cliches. The East is weak right now, anything can happen, etc. Yeah, I know. :rolly
  16. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) I really like the 76er's and what they've done the pase two days. Picking up a low post player that was desperately needed in Chris Webber, Picked up Jamal Mashburn solid and addition by subtraction by dumping Big Dog. Taken from Yahoo: Due to continuous problems with his right knee, Mashburn has spent the entire 2004-05 campaign on the injured list. He is making $9.3 million this year and is slated to earn $10.1 million next season. Reportedly, because of patella femoral irritation, the knee still swells badly after any strenuous activity. There is a chance Mashburn may never play again.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) How smart is the San Anton GM? whoever that is? He managed to clear up a good chunk of payroll (most likely with Tony Parker's free agency in mind), and he acquired a guy who I thought was the frontrunner for Most Improved Player Of The Year back in early January (Nazr Mohammed), but losing Malik is big if we're talking about team chemistry. Still though, he comes out ahead in this one.
  18. I kinda liked the Celtics (mostly just Jefferson/Allen/West/Blount) up until today.......
  19. QUOTE(OldRetiredGuy @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Every generation should have their own artists that speak to their experiences, the times that they are living in. I think it is far scarier for kids today to be listening to recycled 60s and 70s hits than to have their own music no matter how crappy. So no matter how gifted and talented I believe Dylan to be, kids -- find your own damn muse. Hell no, there will never be another rock era like there was from the early 60s through the early 70s. Reggae will never be as good as it was in the mid-70s. Jazz fusion will never produce thousands of killer tracks per year like it did from 1967 to 1973. James Brown ain't coming back, and neither are Al Green, Otis Redding, or Marvin Gaye for that matter. There's nothing wrong with keeping this stuff alive, is there? Are you suggesting that it should just die with your generation? That's perhaps one of the most selfish things that I've ever heard. A candy-ass argument, for sure.
  20. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:57 AM) Makes no sense for the warriors either. They have the point guard position filled pretty well, why get another? How about getting an actual center. The last all-star caliber center for the Golden State Warriors was Joe Barry Carroll (1980-1986). Since then, they've only drafted 3 centers in the first round. 1986: Chris Washburn (3rd Overall Pick) 1997: Adonal Foyle (8th Overall Pick) 1999: Jeff Foster (21st Overall Pick) Foster never played a game for them, and the Washburn is one of the biggest busts in NBA Draft history. Foyle never gets minutes. The guy has been around for 8 years already? 8 years? WTF. Dampier was pretty good, but nothing special. They got him from the Pacers in 1996. It looks like they're cursed. They're like the Bears when it comes to quarterbacks. God damn, the 2001 Draft: 1 - Jason Richardson, Michigan St. 1 - Troy Murphy, Notre Dame 2 - Gilbert Arenas, Arizona And they had both Antawn Jamison and Larry Hughes on the same team as these guys. When healthy (Murphy especially), could you say that all 5 of those guys are all-star caliber players? It wouldn't be a ridiculous claim. Before Murphy got injured, he was averaging 16 points and 11 boards per contest. His defense is nothing to brag about, however.
  21. This has to be my favorite, lyrically speaking. You got a lotta nerve To say you are my friend When I was down You just stood there grinning You got a lotta nerve To say you got a helping hand to lend You just want to be on The side that's winning You say I let you down You know it's not like that If you're so hurt Why then don't you show it You say you lost your faith But that's not where it's at You had no faith to lose And you know it I know the reason That you talk behind my back I used to be among the crowd You're in with Do you take me for such a fool To think I'd make contact With the one who tries to hide What he don't know to begin with You see me on the street You always act surprised You say, "How are you?" "Good luck" But you don't mean it When you know as well as me You'd rather see me paralyzed Why don't you just come out once And scream it No, I do not feel that good When I see the heartbreaks you embrace If I was a master thief Perhaps I'd rob them And now I know you're dissatisfied With your position and your place Don't you understand It's not my problem I wish that for just one time You could stand inside my shoes And just for that one moment I could be you Yes, I wish that for just one time You could stand inside my shoes You'd know what a drag it is To see you
  22. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:01 AM) I came off as a bastard, I didn't mean to. I idolize the man and he's been the inspration to my career. When people insult him, his writing and his music with having no knowledge of him, I get extremely pissed off. Hey, no problem. Bob Dylan is a legend.
  23. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 05:56 AM) Bob Dylan is a prophet; it's apparent you haven't explored much of his music if you think Knockin' On Heaven's Door and Like A Rolling Stone are two of his few musically correct songs. He has 43 albums for f*** sakes, the two songs you named are hardly his best. Dude, you named yourself after him and everything (props), but I have close to 100 of his bootlegs. I've heard plenty.
  24. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 04:43 AM) Dylan is overrated and his music is horses***. Knock knock knockin' own Heaven's door? That is a beautiful track. Most of the material on his Greatest Hits album is amazing. "Tambourine Man", "Positively 4th Street", "Like A Rolling Stone", etc. I have found that people who really dislike Dylan can't stand his voice.
