  1. Braden Looper Mike Dejean Orber Moreno Scott Strickland Matt Ginter Felix Heredia Dae-Sung Koo When your bullpen looks like this, you need all of the help that you can get. The Mets have a terrific offense and a pretty good starting staff, but that bullpen is enough to disqualify them from postseason contention right now. Is there a dumber organization in baseball given the amount of money they spend? I can't think of any outside of maybe the Rangers.
  2. Chevy Chase lines from Caddy Shack: "As the Zen philosopher Basho once said: a flute with no holes is not a flute. And a donut with no hole, is a danish. Funny guy!" "You don't have to go to college. This isn't Russia. Is this Russia? This isn't Russia." "We got a pool, and a pond, the pond would be good for you" Judge Smails: What'd you shoot today? Chevy Chase: I don't keep score Judge Smails: Well, How do you measure yourself with other golfers? Chevy Chase: By height. Chevy Chase: Do you do drugs, Danny? Danny: Every day Chevy Chase: Good. So what seems to be the problem?
  3. QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) steroids are cool and I would reccomend all young people looking to get bigger to take them.. You have completely lost your mind.
  4. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) Guess I'm not alone on that assessment. About Curt Schilling being a complete jackass? I thought that this was common knowledge for years now.....
  5. IMO, it's so much better than "Saving Private Ryan" that it's not even funny, mostly because these actors don't work: Vin Diesel whoops Edward Burns ugghhh Giovanni Ribisi huh? Matt Damon no Jewish Dude from Dazed & Confused ???? Donnie Wahlberg is better suited for past-based war movies than all five of those guys combined. Just my opinion, of course. Same producers, but they just took a major s*** when selecting acors for that film. The beginning was terrific, the rest of the movie was meh.
  6. It's unbelievably good, my favorite movie/series of all time, period. Band Of Brothers Thread From May Of 2004
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 07:18 AM) I will almost be willing to put my house on the line that Kendall does not steal 15 bases...if he does, it will be his own doing. The A's stole 47 bases as a team last year, and that was with Byrnes stealing over a third of them(17). The last time he stole 15 bases was 2002, and he was caught 8 times too, giving him a 65% SB rate, which is not good in the A's eyes. I'm almost positive Macha will say do not run to him. Yep, good point. So, all that he really offers is batting average and runs scored (dude to his OBP). The fact that he gets on so much should give him a good shot at creating 7 to 10 SB, though.
  8. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 07:36 AM) Just because they are very young for the most part does not mean they will be one of the worst bullpens in the league. They have some excellent bullpen arms expecially their top four. Valverde, villarreal, aquino, and koplove would all be our right handed set-up man. Maybe I was a bit too harsh in saying they're bottom 10%, but I'd put them in this group (the lowest 1/4). Washington Nationals San Francisco Giants New York Mets Arizona Diamondbacks Toronto Blue Jays Tampa Bay Devil Rays Kansas City Royals I'm sure that I'm missing somebody. Their combined WHIP and ERA as a group was pretty bad last year, although they have potential. I have Aquino on my fantasy team as my third closer behind Nathan and Benitez. Valverde is one hell of a setup-man.
  9. Hurry up and grab Craig Monroe for your fantasy team while he's still available. He had a 1.000+ OPS in the second half last year. If you're in League 3, ignore this.
  10. BTW, nice team Aboz. If I were you, I'd try to unload Jason Kendall for another damn good starting pitcher (as you already have AJ). Jason will give you batting average and runs, but not much else. Maybe 15 SB if he's lucky. He's damn good, don't get me wrong, but he is waaay overvalued. You could get something nice in return.
  11. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) Your starting pitching may be troublesome. Greinke, Webb are good young pitchers but play for below average teams. This usually means that they are going to have to be dynamite to get an average amount of wins. I drafted Webb too. It's gonna take a little while for the D'Backs offense to gel, but this lineup ain't too shabby on paper: 1. Craig Counsell 2b NEW ADDITION 2. Royce Clayton SS NEW ADDITION 3. Shawn Green OF NEW ADDITION 4. Troy Glaus 3B NEW ADDITION 5. Luis Gonzalez OF 6. Jose Cruz Jr. NEW ADDITION 7. Chad Tracy 1B 8. Koyie Hill C ROOKIE I dunno who else they could put in the 2 hole. Royce might have had a .340 OBP last year, but that was with the Rockies. When he was with the Sox in 2002, his OBP was .295. You have Cintron in the picture, though. Now, the bullpen? It appears to be one of the worst in the majors (in the bottom 10%, perhaps). Webb will lose some victories, but nowhere near as many as last year because the offense is so much better. I'm expecting about 14 wins.
  12. QUOTE(Yoda @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) -Red Heat How could I forget? I love that movie.
  13. QUOTE(Confederate_48 @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) Starting Pitching A- Bullpen B+ Hmmm. Which group deserves the A, and which group is more like a B- at best? Rotation 1. J. Santana 2.61 ERA, 0.92 WHIP 2. B. Radke 3.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP 3. Carlos Silva 4.21 ERA, 1.43 WHIP 4. Kyle Lohse 5.34 ERA, 1.63 WHIP 5. Joe Mays 6.30 ERA, 1.52 WHIP Bullpen Joe Nathan 1.62 ERA, 0.98 WHIP Juan Rincon 2.63 ERA, 1.02 WHIP J.C. Romero 3.51 ERA, 1.33 WHIP Jesse Crain 2.00 ERA, 1.07 WHIP Grant Balfour 4.35 ERA, 1.42 WHIP Balfour had a 1.24 WHIP at home and a 3.63 ERA on the road. He could possibly do very well this year. Take away the runs that he gave up in Comiskey and Arlington, and his road ERA is unbelievable. He pitched in 13 different parks on the road, and he didn't give up an earned run or an unearned run in 8 of them. You have to do all of your own research if you really expect to learn anything, because them Espn shows...wow. They'll make you dumber. :headshake
  14. QUOTE(backman @ Mar 13, 2005 -> 06:45 AM) their deparcher brought bigger and better things Dude, that's the worst botch job that I've ever seen on here. LOL, deparcher?
  15. Blues Brothers and The Fugitive are the best, IMO. Also, Steven Seagal's first flick Above The Law is worthy. That movie kicks ass, although the rest of his filmography isn't even worth pissing on. Next Of Kin is a buzz-rise, if nothing else. Running Scared is decent. Man, I'm 26 years old, but I got Home Alone on DVD. I love that s***.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxmatt @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) I had a near death expirience. This ass hole in my neighborhood was arguing with me about something stupid. He punched me in the stomach so i clocked him in the jaw. He kicked me once of twice and i tackled him into a bench. He was just laying there groaning so i left. Two hours later i was riding my bike to my friends house and the dude pushes me off my bike and kicks me in the face. Then he picked up a baseball bat and hit me on the the hand once, breaking 2 of my fingers. You think he would have stopped there but then he hit me on the back of the head and my back a couple times. This was an aluminum bad too. 2 cracked vertabrae and 4 staples in my head. The kid didnt get arrested or anything because we heard his dad beating the s*** out of him and his parents begged us not to press charges. The kid still lives next door to me and has really turned it around. You should have sued his parents for everything they had. They are ultimately responsible for their kid being so freaking dumb. I'm happy to hear that you escaped the incident without any brain damage, because when you get hit in the back of the head with a bat, that's when you become a vegetable.
  17. QUOTE(flippedoutpunk @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) My source tells me it was 3 Tacos de carne asada sin cebolla. Okay, remind me to b****-slap my source next time I see him. Dude is constantly making me look bad.
  18. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) THIS JUST IN...MAGGLIO ATE LUNCH!!! Story developing... I heard that he had an Italian sub with extra pickles and easy lettuce.
  19. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) I still wish Jose Valentin was on the Sox team. You are one in a million, a rare breed.
  20. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) As for OPS I've been a huge baseball and White Sox fan for many yrs. and I don't even know what OPS is. Something about total bases against the number of outs maybe??? Care to enlighten me ? OPS is On Base Percentage and Slugging Percentage combined. It's very telling for run producers, and not as telling for table setters. For example, Rickey Henderson and Ichiro Suzuki aren't sluggers, so they never have/never will post a high OPS. Career OPS Top 10 Rank Player (age) OPS Bats 1. Babe Ruth+ 1.1636 L 2. Ted Williams+ 1.1155 L 3. Lou Gehrig+ 1.0798 L 4. Barry Bonds (39) 1.0533 L 5. Todd Helton (30) 1.0480 L 6. 21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 07:17 AM) I'm just showing how poor we are with him on the floor. Yep. My point was that you can not put that minus 8 points on Trenton Hassell, as he is one of he best perimiter defenders in this league. It's not his fault that he has to play with Spree, Cassell, Wally World, etc. But in Curry's case, there's no excuse.
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 06:54 AM) http://www.82games.com/rolandratings0405.htm Just thought I would pass this along. If you scroll down you can find Eddy Curry sitting pretty at number 230. Yep, those ratings are always amusing to me. These ratings represent a player's value to a particular team and are not intended to be an accurate gauge of the ability and talent of the player away from the specific team. Garnett ain't even in the Top 50. Hassell is ranked lower than Curry. Fred Hoiberg is ranked #34 overall. But yeah, Curry is the right guy to lead a suckfest. Unless he turns things around in a hurry, I don't want that dude around.
  23. QUOTE(orangekrush88 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 06:58 AM) I love Seinfeld and if you like Seinfeld make sure you watch Arrested Devolpment, it is near as funy as Seinfeld. Are you for real? Nearly as funny as Seinfeld? I've never seen it, but I've heard from a few different people that it sucks.
  24. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 12, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) Somebody's making a Rookie of the Year push; Dwight Howard Last 6 Games 20 points 16 rebounds. 20 points 15 rebounds. 11 points 11 rebounds. 3 points 4 rebounds. 17 points 20 rebounds. 19 points 20 rebounds. He's also averaging 2.5 blocks per game over that stretch.
