QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 07:42 AM) He's putting up average numbers on a team where he should be there number one option not that Employee No. 8 is gone. He really hasn't shown a whole lot. Josh Smith and Childress are talented, but they're still young and raw, so it's not like they're taking any shots away from him. I would take Donyell over him. As far as big men, I'd rather see Curry and Chandler getting more minutes... And yeah, I can see Donyell starting in front of Deng if he's putting up the numbers he has the past 20 games or so. Donyell has done a lot more with the minutes he's gotten and Carter being traded than Harrington has with 'Toine being traded. I mean, it seems as if tyronne lue has been scoring more than he has... You would honestly take Donny over a potential superstar in Al Harrington? When teams play the Hawks, it's almost like they're exclusively game-planning for Al Harrington. The guy is a beast, and he's only 24 years old. How old is Donny? BTW, I have both Josh Childress and Josh Smith on my fantasy team, and while they're raw, they're already kick-ass players. I keep telling people (and the basketball heads already know)...watch out for them motherf***ing Hawks. They're finally going places after damn near 20 years. They had the best draft this past year, and they'll have a shot at that Bogut dude next year. Plus, they have so much salary cap room that it's disgusting. Childress might be the best rebounding SG in all of the NBA next year. Josh Smith is already a defensive freak, straight outta high school. Harrington is more than capable of being a team's #1 scoring option. The only problem right now is big men. Actually, it's more that just merely a problem. They have the worst frontcourt in the NBA. They get used and abused down there. The one thing that could f*** up everything for the Hawks? You guessed it, signing Eddy Curry.

From the "Why Is Change So Hard?" thread: Aboz: Why is change so hard? Critic: Change is hard cuz it's made of metal. Paper money is much softer. You're welcome. -
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Try again. No, my post was sincere. I wasn't trying to be a jerkoff, although I can be at times. My intent was not to make jokes, but the impact of my post (shout out to Los Medias Blancas) appears to have led to a misunderstanding. Honestly, I think you're one of the coolest posters on here. And I agree...I wanna know who's in here at all times. Much like aboz, I fear change.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 04:54 AM) Can you imagine Carmelo Anthony with Larry Brown? Plus the way Tayshuan Prince is playing offensively and defensively, they wouldn't need Carmelo at all. Wade is a totally different story, but the Pistons would be happy with their guard rotation of Billups, Rip Hamilton, Arroyo and Carlos Delfino. I'll take Tayshaun over Carmelo in a heartbeat. The guy is an absolute defensive freak, and I love him. Those are the types of players that get you rings. But as far as Wade is concerned, everything that I've heard and read (as I can't stay awake for college basketball) indicates that he was damn good in college, but when he got to the NBA, he made a quantum leap of sorts. I mean, across the board, seemingly everyone who followed him closely in college is flat-out shocked at the progress that he's made.

Give me Bill Gates money, and my kid is still getting a motherf***ing ford taurus. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 03:59 AM) back on the that draft.... TJ Ford would be a stud 2 if it wasnt for his injury... was such a sweet draft. As good as that draft was, I think that the 2004 class is even better. And if we're talking strictly defense, the 2004 class is so much better that it's not even funny.

The Seagull He flies high above the topic, drops a tremendous load of s***, and then flies on, not even looking down to see where it landed. This type is also prevalent in business. That sounds about right.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) Realize that was also with Hinrich hurt, and Deng out. You can't isolate that and say it is JUST Eddy. It also includes the first two games of the season, as he got suspended for sucker-punching Brendan Haywood in the nuts.

Defensive Rebounds Per Game Eddy Curry: 3.5 Bobby Sura: 4.4

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) The Bulls are 1-5 without Curry. Yo, I read that in the Tribune today too. I kinda want to believe that the guy is important, but then I remind myself that these players average more rebounds per game than he does: Josh Childress Bobby Sura Kobe Bryant Steve Francis Larry Hughes Jason Richardson Quentin Richardson Tracy McGrady Paul Pierce Lebron James

Seriously though, who's in here?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) #1- Freel = Great Player. Great insurance for Gooch and Crede. #2- hammerhead johnson: "Coming out of the big series in Cleveland in late July, the Big Hurt wasn't doing much for the first-place Chicago White Sox except leading the American League in hitting, runs, walks, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, extra-base hits, ropes, bombs, shortstops moving out of the way of nuclear ground balls, and number of clubhouse boys sent running for more double-strength Mylanta. Try this on for size: This year, barring a protracted strike, Thomas could break Babe Ruth's records for runs, walks, and extra-base hits in a single season. He could become the first man since Ted Williams to have an on-base percentage of .500 or higher, and the first one since Williams with a slugging percentage above .700. Now here's a sentence without Ruth or Williams: Thomas looks as if he'll be the first man to bat .350, hit 50 home runs, and walk 150 times in one season- period. Oh, and he's after the Triple Crown and Roger Maris's 61 home runs, too. Basically, he is scaring baseball right out of it's Bikes. Somebody asked Cleveland Indian manager Mike Hargrove the other day how to pitch to Thomas, and he said "Throw it 10 feet in front of the plate and hope he doesn't hit it on the first hop". Already New York Yankee manager Buck Showalter has said he would consider walking him with the bases loaded. "I wish they'd let us put on the masks and shin guards", Cleveland Indians pitcher Dennis Martinez says. "Pitchers shouldn't be left out there alone with him"." BEST SIG EVAR!!!!!!!!! Hey, thanks man. I think it was Cheat who posted an image of the 1994 Sports Illustrated Mag with Frank on the cover around this time last year, so that was what inspired me.

QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) knight those really arent all that close.. 20 points in BA is pretty good, 26 in OBP, over 100 in slugging.. and Pena's OPS was .843.. Credes was in the low .700's Pena is also younger, and has better speed than Crede, although I dont know how much more but its more.. If the Reds were smart, they would deal Griffey (If they could find anyone) and give Wily Mo full time PT.. because he looks like he could evolve into a pretty good hitter Say man, who is that nerd in your avatar?

I used to love Hawk, but now, I just can't take it anymore. This guy's the greatest I've ever seen in 40 years, that guy's the best I've ever seen, blah blah blah. That s*** gets old in a hurry.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) The only name that jumped out is Larry Hughes, and he's having an amazing year. He should make the All-Defensive First Team after he locks up the steals crown... Hughes can't shut anybody down one on one. He's competent, but he's nothing special. He's opportunistic in the passing lanes, but he f***s his team over in ways that won't show up in the box score. Lots of steal attempts = lots of risks. When he gets burnt, he has slow-footed Brendan Haywood, one confused Kwame, and defensively challenged Antawn Jamison to get his back. I dunno if you noticed, but the Wizards are motherf***ing swiss cheese on defense, and Hughes is a major part of that.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 22, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) Kwame always had more potential than both our bigs and idonno he has shown some flashes of what he can be and with Hinrich and Duhon passing to him as much as we pass to Curry he could be successful. And he is a pretty good rebounder if I remember right isnt he. Kwame Brown is a power forward in the long run. He'll never be a force in the middle. He doesn't have that type of body. Therefore, because of Tyson (another guy who doesn't have the type of body required to man the C position), it would be a waste to go after him. And besides, I have my doubts about Kwame. He had a game against the Heat last year where he scored 0 points in 30 minutes. If anything, that should indicate that he's capable of completely disappearing at times due to a lack of heart, which is precisely what we need to avoid. Maybe he'll be filling up box scores next year or the year after...I have no clue. He certainly has the rebounding & scoring potential to do so. Some people think that when he peaks, his game will be comparable to that of Jermaine O'Neal. However, we already know that Jermaine busts his ass at all times, and he's passionate about winning. The jury is still out on the work ethic & passion of one Kwame Brown.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) Gooden is having a career year On paper, anyway. He was demoted in favor of Robert Traylor earlier this month. I know that he got his job back almost immediately, but it says a lot when a guy is putting up close to 10 rebounds per game, and his starting job is in question. It also says a lot when a guy is the 4th overall pick in the NBA draft, and then he plays for 3 different teams in his first 4 years. A couple of Drew Gooden reviews: "Gooden has made stat-padding into an art form, making him much more valuable in the fantasy realm than in the NBA. He's probably the starting power forward by default in Cleveland." "Drew Gooden will post respectable numbers because he'll rack up points when the game has already been decided, but he's not good enough to start in the NBA. He doesn't play defense, and his work ethic is nonexistant. Gooden's so lazy, he's like a rug on valium. That's lazy." -
Berkman is one hell of an OPS man, but 14 million per yer over 6 years? That is insane. There are outfielders and first basemen everywhere. That's ace money.

Cavaliers Fire Paul Silas
hammerhead johnson replied to Chisoxrd5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Wow, what a joke. Paxson might be the worst GM in the NBA outside of Isiah Thomas and Chris Mullin. Luke Jackson? What in the f*** kind of pick is that? Meanwhile, Josh Smith is forcing 4 turnovers per game since he got a starting gig. :rolly Drew Gooden? That sucker belongs in a Knicks uniform. Ira Newble has a starting job in this league? Lucious Harris, Eric Snow, etc? And Silas had them around 10 games over .500 last month with this sad excuse for a team? -
Well, seeing as how we have 4 ROOKIES in our 7-man rotation, I find this quote rather amusing. Very few ways to get better quickly, LOL? Are these guys peaking now? Also, no salary cap room? We're not keeping Curry, correct? Bulls Salaries It seems to me that all we need is a Raja Bell/Trenton Hassell type defensive SG/SF and one Samuel Dalembert. And god damn it, keep Skiles at all costs.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 07:54 PM) Funny that "pwned" and "50 (fiddy) Cent" get brought up together, as they seem to fit into the stupidity that is overtaking our language on a daily basis. Ebonics was a joke, but now I am afraid "moronics" is becoming a reality. The origins of pwned have been stated in this thread. How would that qualify as "moronics"? It's an inside joke. One could just as easily pass judgement on someone who dresses or used to dress up like a punk rocker. Ahem.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 21, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) Every generation has it's own phrases, I think it's really hip and groovy that the hip cats of today are what's happening. Right On! God damn hippie. I hate the way you talk, mang!

Inside jokes. If y'all really wanna talk s*** about something, we have 50 Cent threads around here all the time. I didn't understand pwn at first either, but after I caught on, I didn't have much of an issue with it. It's nerd-speak. We're a bunch of freaking nerds on here -- don't get it twisted.

QUOTE(backman @ Mar 19, 2005 -> 06:31 AM) i was at this new Orleans game tonight, and man was this disapointing, there is no way we deal curry under any circumstances, we can win with out him, just like the bears cant win without Urlacure. We Need Curry! Urlacure? Dude, what's up with the botch jobs. You said deparcher the other day. This is all on purpose, I'm assuming? Are you some kind of comedic genius? Curry is gonna be a free agent, and the trade deadline is long gone. We can't deal him. We don't win because of Curry. He's a sucker, IMO. He might have some value depending on your outlook. The Bears defense is stacked to the point where Urlacher's presence does not determine whether we win or lose.
