  1. QUOTE(mreye @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Eggs are meat! It's my understanding that eggs are in the same group as meat, fish, and nuts.
  2. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 08:57 AM) You and other like-minded fans are the ones who are giving him lower expectations when it comes to scoring. All of a sudden, he's not supposed to score anymore. First of all, who is dumb enough to compare 18 year olds to NBA legends like Shaquille O'Neal and Kevin Garnett? I'll read those sites that y'all have been linking in order to know what NOT to think. There is an endless supply of dumbf***s out there watching basketball and trying to make desperate comparisons in order to write columns. I don't wanna hear about it. Top 10 Defensive Players in NBA history, IMO Bill Russell Nate Thurmond Dennis Rodman Ben Wallace Hakeem Olajuwon David Robinson Michael Jordan Scottie Pippen Alonzo Mourning Dikembe Mutombo Could Dikembe, Bill Russell, Dennis Rodman, and Ben Wallace provide much on the offensive end? Nope. Were they the types of players that you build around in order to contend for a championship? You're god damn right. Next up is one Tyson Chandler.
  3. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:45 AM) Both rodman and wallace had horrendous shots and are both some of the best defenders to ever play in the nba. Are you telling me you guys would take an eddy curry over either of those two players? if anyone does they are f***ing insane and need to get soem help. Exactly. Chandler has the makings of a defensive legend. Oh man, when he peaks? It's gonna be a beautiful thing.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:27 AM) what?? you hate Curry obviously and even things that he does positive you look down upon and just bring up what he didnt do.... its almost pathetic how you let your hate for a player that you dont even know get in the way of rational thinking. You don't have to know a guy personally to determine whether he's wack or not. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:27 AM) Curry isnt a rebounder thats a given, but there are plenty of players that are just scorers and they get paid a lot of money to do it. Yep, and none of them guys have rings. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:27 AM) Im sorry but if all we have is your favorite Dalembert and Chandler... our offense is going to suck ass and we will be back to those 20 win seasons.. Dalembert and Chandler don't have to be on the floor together all that much through the first three quarters. And besides, Sammy ain't gonna demand that much money on the open market. I dunno, maybe 5 to 6 million? QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:27 AM) While many of the Kirk lovers will disagree the biggest factor of this current team is Curry love or hate him. In the bizarro world, this may very well be the case. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:27 AM) im done arguing to because no matter what you just going to come up with some stupid s*** to say about Curry no point in wasting more of my time... and BTW im not even a big Curry fan either but your hate for him is just so dumb. Can't we all just recognize a scrub when we see one? Is it that hard to criticize one of your own? What were your thoughts on Jalen Rose when he was in a Bulls uniform? Jamal Crawford? Don't tell me that you were defending those guys as well.
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 03:51 AM) I thought you :sleep through college games? That's usually the case 99% of the time, but for whatever reason, I was interested enough to tune in for this game.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) I completely forgot we are in the same league. I haven't had much of a chance to check my team since the draft. After looking at those numbers though, DeJesus is a pretty good pick up and I agree with you on not ever taking a guy like Burnitz seriously. He could completely choke on the Cub. I can't believe that a guy who hit 37 HR with 110 RBI is still available in a league where 250+ players have been taken. Somebody will probably pick him up, but it ain't gonna be me.
  7. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 06:29 AM) Maybe, maybe not. If Chandler's offense can improve, I don't see why Curry's defense can't improve. You can't see why Curry's defense and rebounding can't improve? Does the motherf***er look motivated to you? And ain't he in a contract year???? Do I need to post the list of 12+ shooting guards in this league who average more rebounds per game than Curry does? People are actually playing the age card? Outside of death, there's nothing that I fear more in life than bad basketball talk. The lack of recognition in regards to Tyson Chandler's defensive freak status is what disturbs me the most. Again, for like the millionth time, CHANDLER IS NOT AN OFFENSIVE OPTION. His job on offense is to set picks and crash the offensive boards. And for those who are unaware, setting picks and grabbing offensive boards creates offense. When Chandler forces a turnover, that creates offense via the fast break or what have you. It's the little things that win ballgames.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 03:07 AM) Must be a pretty big league. Me, you, and SoxFan1 are all in the same league. I need some temporary replacements for Big Frank and Lance Berkman. In my search for sleepers, I keep coming back to the Royals and the Rockies. David DeJesus numbers after the ASB: 296 AB 51 RUNS 93 HITS 14 DOUBLES 3 TRIPLES 7 HOME RUNS 35 RBI 7 STOLEN BASES .314 AVERAGE .385 OBP .453 SLUG .838 OPS And of course, Gotay could be having the best spring of any American League player, period. But like I said, I can't acquire either of the two. Rockies sleepers I have my eye on: Matt Holliday (already acquired) and Clint Barmes. I can't take Juan Gone and Jeromy Burnitz seriously...
  9. Ruben Gotay and David DeJesus are two guys that I'd add to my fantasy team if not for the fact that I already have Angel Berroa and Mike Sweeney. 3 or more Royals on your fantasy team can not be a good thing.
  10. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 26, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) The only problem with playing Washington in the 1st round (as opposed to Boston), if the Bulls win the series, they have to face Miami in the 2nd round instead of Detroit. Detroit is waaay more dangerous in a 7 game series than Miami. Regular season records = crap. That's the last team I'd wanna see, other than the Spurs.
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 26, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Before the season, we were predicted to be a top 3 team in the East, and I don't think anyone could argue that. A Top 3 team out East? More like a Top 3 team in the entire league along with San Antonio and Detroit. The pre-brawl Pacers would whoop anybody in a 7 game series outside of those two teams. Teams like Phoenix and Miami wouldn't know what hit them. When you have some of the finest defensive players in the league (O'Neal, Artest, Tinsley) with scoring options all over the place (paint, perimiter) and damn good overall depth, you're killing people.
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) Pedro+national league= sub 3.25 era with an awesome whip. This is if he does not get injured of course. 1997-1.90-1 (w/ Montreal) 1998-2.89-2 1999-2.07-1 2000-1.74-1 2002-2.26-1 2003-2.22-1 2004-3.90-9 He finally had an off-year, and all of a sudden, Hank Blalock is perceived as the more valuable player? Hmmm. I'll go with the guy who has won 5 ERA titles in the past 7 years, and easily a Top 10 starter in the history of major league baseball.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Frankly I am worried about two things. #1 the New York Mets factor... everyone who goes there falls into some kind of a preformance blackhole, and #2 all of the injury problems, plus the rumors about shoulder surgery being needed at anytime. I hear you, but the starting pitchers that they've acquired in recent years have been either over the hill, over-achievers in previous years, or just flat out bad. Just to name a few: Tom Glavine, Al Leiter, Steve Trachsel, Pedro Astacio, Mike Hampton, Hideo Nomo, etc. They haven't really had a kick-ass pitcher like Pedro in close to 15 years now (when Doc Gooden and David Cone were still doing their thing). As far as offensive players go, again, they go after guys (by and large) who are over the hill, over-achievers in previous years, or just plain awful. Just to name a few: Mo Vaughn, Roger Cedeno, Robbie Alomar, Jeromy Burnitz, Richard Hidalgo, Cliff Floyd, etc. A stupid franchise, for sure. As far as injuries are concerned, you have a point, although he has started 29 or more games per year in 9 of the past 10 years. His offseason training habits are legendary. He's still only 33 years old. I think that he'll be fine, although you never know nowadays.
  14. For those who contact this mental giant, you might wanna mention the most important Buehrle statistic. 2.63 Road ERA That's second to only Johan Santana in the AL. No Buehrle argument is respectable without this detail.
  15. This Top Prospect list was most likely put together before spring training? Is that a fair assumption, given the absence of one Brandon McCarthy?
  16. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) Are we looking at an Anderson-Rowand-Sweeny OF down the road? I'm deeply vexed. One of the two probably won't work out, but if both do, I could see Anderson at 1B. Signing Konerko long-term is a bad move, IMO. How is Josh Fields, defensively? If he doesn't work out at 3B, then 1B would have to be his destination. I just can't see us locking down Konerko with the type of potential impact players that we have in our farm system.
  17. QUOTE(T R U @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) Flip, I have actually had a hickie (Actually Hickies) that would have blown you away.. They were all over my neck, from side to side.. it looked like I had been viciously choked, and also looked horrible.. And then afterwards, I'm assuming that you took her to the zoo? I heard that retards like the zoo.
  18. If this were your Soxtalk League 3 team, you'd dominate. It would be a slaughter. Your Soxtalk League 3 Team: C M. Lieberthal (Phi - C) 1B T. Helton (Col - 1B) 2B T. Iguchi (CWS - 2B) 3B D. Wright (NYM - 3B) SS M. Young (Tex - SS) OF M. Ramírez (Bos - OF) OF B. Giles (SD - OF) OF A. Jones (Atl - OF) Util K. Matsui (NYM - SS) BN C. Crisp (Cle - OF) BN T. Nixon (Bos - OF) BN T. Walker (ChC - 2B) BN M. Cuddyer (Min - 1B,2B,3B,OF) SP J. Peavy (SD - SP) SP R. Oswalt (Hou - SP) RP Fr. Rodríguez (LAA - RP) RP B. Ryan (Bal - RP) P J. Vázquez (Ari - SP) P J. Bonderman (Det - SP) P S. Linebrink (SD - RP) BN R. King (StL - RP) Javier Vazquez and Jeremy Bonderman as opposed to Oliver Perez and Roy Halladay???? Scott Linebrink and Ray King as opposed to Braden Looper and Juan Rincon? That is an insane difference, not to mention that your offense is scarier as well in the non-soxtalk league.
  19. QUOTE(supernuke @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) Thats about what I thought and it was the other guy who offered me Blalock. Pedro was damn near Top 10 in the majors last year in WHIP for starters at 1.17. He's going from a hitter's paradise to a pitcher's paradise. Consider this a blessing in disguise. If you can afford to just trade Pedro like that, I'm assuming that you have other stud starting pitchers? If healthy, he's a shoe-in for Top 10 in wins, strikeouts, and WHIP. Maybe even ERA. I'm surprised at the feedback in this thread, BTW. Blalock is good, but I dunno if 1 HR per 20 ABs and a .275 average can even come close to f***ing with a hall of fame pitcher in a pitcher's paradise. I'm just sayin'.
  20. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) I was talking about rahim, sleepywhitesox said he is injury prone which in all reality he is not. Marshall is 31 gonna be 32 in may. Oh, my bad. I feel bad for Shareef & I hope that he can settle down and play for a winning team one of these days. The only problem is that after playing so many years with the likes of Vancouver, Atlanta, and Portland, he might not give two s***s about winning anymore. Some players are genuinely pissed when they lose, but I'd have to imagine that Shareef is immune by now.
  21. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 08:57 PM) He has had one and a half bad years injury wise. His third year in the league when he missed 32 games and this year he is one pass to miss 28. That is not bad for a player that has been in the league for nine years. Do you realize he just turned 28 back in december? He has at the very least three to five good years left in him. Now will we get him? Of course not. Is it nice to talk about? Yes. Holy s***, I thought that Donny was older than 28. I seems like he's been around forever.
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ Mar 24, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) Bulls draft=hawks draft. Many people believe deng can be a player like shawn marion in a year possibly two. Will he average over ten boards a game? Probailly not but i think 8 is very possible. I am sure you can tell we usually put him on either the hardest or second hardest player to defend. Depending on size match ups of course. IMO, based on where both team had their picks, the Hawks kicked some serious ass. But snatching up Duhon in the second round = brilliant. I could go either way at times. Also, now that Jameer Nelson is gettting regular action, the Magic draft is approaching that of the Bulls and the Hawks. I still don't know what to make of Deng. He's definitely the wild card.
