Sounds like my Beatles bootleg of the moment, except it's 5.1 degrees, and not 6. "5.1 Degrees Of Separation"

One of my favorite shows.

Chip's okay in my book. The dude is just a major geek and I tend to like people like that for some odd reason. Stone is awesome at what he does. I know that people think he's a self-serving douchebag or whatever, but I respect his baseball information.

Raff, you are a very strange young man.

QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 05:17 AM) I'd like to hear someone say "He's gone!" when big Frank stikes out. Yeah, you and the rest of your cub fan buddies.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 01:56 AM) Again, I am so sick of the lack of compromise on these things. Is it necc to put on public display for the whole world every person who has have been labeled a sex offender in the USA? No. There is no excuse for this scarlet letter attitude. As some of you have indicated the statute for what defines an SO varies from state to state. Yet that distinction is going to be easily lost in a public worldly display. God damn, man. :headshake The only people who have a problem with sex offenders being put on display are the sex offenders themselves, and a select few assholes who like to go around and argue just for the sake of arguing.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 05:00 AM) Lynn Swann is the Gary Carter of the Football Hall of Fame. My pops and my grandfather both swear that he's the best receiver to ever play the game outside of Rice. From what I've seen on bootleg playoff game dvds that I bought on ebay , they're probably right. But yeah, when you take a look at his career on paper, it's not that impressive.
-
One more interesting fact about those 70s Steelers -- They drafted 4 hall of famers in 1974 1st Round: Lynn Swann 2nd Round: Jack Lambert 4th Round: John Stallworth 5th Round: Mike Webster That is the most impressive thing I have ever seen if we're talking about the world of sports. The Cardinals might draft one hall of famer every other decade, if that.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 02:49 AM) This is a Patriots dynasty on the same level as the Steelers of the 70's Well, I wouldn't go as far as to say that. Let's talk about HOF caliber players. QB: Steelers: Terry Bradshaw Patriots: Tom Brady RB: Steelers: Franco Harris Patriots: WR: Steelers: Lynn Swann, John Stallworth Patriots: OL: Steelers: Mike Webster, John Kolb Patriots: DL: Steelers: Joe Greene, LC Greenwood Patriots: LB: Steelers: Jack Lambert, Jack Ham Patriots: DB: Steelers: Mel Blount Patriots: Ty Law Mel Blount is regarded as the greatest CB of all time. He might be the most important player on a team that has legends everywhere you look. I'm not gonna mention Corey Dillon because he had nothing to do with those first two super bowl titles. The one edge that goes to the Patriots is head coaching. They could never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever begin to f*** with the 70s Steelers, no matter what spiff tells you.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) HA, that's the problem with sports calendars, I don't even want to bring up my Bears calendar, Ro Colvin, Jim Miller, Warrick Holdman the list goes on and on. Rosey Colvin and Jim Miller couldn't have been on this year's team calendar. They weren't on the 2003 Roster. 2003 Roster I could see Villarial, B-Rob, Traylor, Holdman, etc. Kordell Stewart -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) So wait the Cubs calander doesn't have samme, but the Sox one I got for christmas has Maggs Carlos Loaiza Jose Sandy Damn, that's brutal. When did they press the 2005 calendars? I talk all kinds of s*** about all things cub (a good 90% of it off the field), but at least they know what they're doing when it comes to the team calendar. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) The point is they are starting to play like last years Pistons... They have turned it around after a mediocre start and are playing some good ball. It's not about confidence, or losing 2 games. The 2003-2004 Pistons had a 6 game losing streak, a 5 game losing streak, and two 4 game losing streaks. I'd say that they're pretty f***ing far from inspired during the regular season. If the Bulls beat them, it won't mean a thing. You can't beat this team in a 7 game series unless it's another defensive powerhouse like the Spurs or pre-brawl Pacers. Nobody else stands a chance.

If you're just thinking about merely making the playoffs: Twins If we're talking about a championship trophy: Yankees If you're smoking crack: Tigers

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 09:10 PM) Agreed, but like you pointed out in your previous post, it seems to be coming closer to even. The stars in the West are getting older, and the East has really improved with a lot of young upcomers. I hear that. I was speaking on the future moreso than anything else in that post. We'll see what happens with free agent acquistions over the next two years, because if the West continues to maintain a stronghold on both the quality free agents and foreign-born players, all of the young talent in the world won't be able to make up for it.
-
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) I know it's about the same time the Bulls were dismantled, but when Shaq went West, so did the shift in power. Shaq's back in the East now. Yep, but their 9th, 10th, and 11th seed teams can still beat our 5th, 6th, and 7th seed teams. That's where I look first and foremost if we're talking about conference strength. We could answer the Spurs and whoever else right now with the Pistons and the pre-brawl Pacers, but when you look at overall depth, there's no question that they have a good 2/3 or at the very least 3/5 of the quality players in this league.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 18, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) lol old man at 26 yeah it would be pretty incredible if this team went to the playoffs also would tell you how weak the East has truly gotten... and what would make it better if we dumped Frank Williams lazy ass and picked up Jay Williams at the end of the season back... nothing like having a guy with that much heart to make a comeback reminds me of Rowand kind of. Well, there are some trends that are worth noting. All of the quality free agents have been signing on with Western Conference teams in recent years. However, the past two drafts: East Lebron James Dwayne Wade Chris Bosh Kirk Hinrich TJ Ford Dwight Howard Emeka Okafor Andre Iguodala Josh Smith Ben Gordon Al Jefferson West Carmelo Anthony Josh Howard Shaun Livingston Devin Harris Don't sleep on the East. With all of these quality young players, veteran free agents will come back around. Unfortunately, I can't see the West losing it's stronghold on foreign-born players. Dirk, Kirilenko, Stoyakovich, Yao, Duncan, etc. And how much crazier will it get in the future? The Russians are coming!
-
The Core: Kirk Hinrich 24 Tyson Chandler 22 Eddy Curry 22 Ben Gordon 21 Luol Deng 19 Chris Duhon 22 Andres Nocioni 25 The Veterans: Antonio Davis 36 Othella Harrington 30 40 wins = most miraculous feat in sports since Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen, and Willie Mays Hayes led the Indians to the playoffs. I'm older than everyone in their 7 man core. What, am I an old man at the age of 26? Honestly though, I've watched a few games recently & this team is so much more enjoyable now that guys like Rose, Fizer, E-Rob, and Jamal Crawford are gone. So, I'm definitely happy about that.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 17, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) Green Bay, Jaxsonville, Kansas City, Houston, and Baltimore are all horrible teams. San Diego's a solid football team, and I would say the same for Minnesota had they been anywhat consistent this season. For all the score heads out there: "You're high, shut up!"
