Gload's only redeeming qualities are his pinch hitting capabilities and his defense from the 1B position. He can't do anything else. His baserunning instincts are bad, bad, bad.....

We'd have two of the five best left-handed relievers in the majors if we were to land Guardado. That's 40% of the league's five best left-handed relievers in a 30 team league! That, my friends, is a major strength come playoff time. I'm just pissed that Guardado wasn't involved in the Garcia trade. I'd have thrown in Cotts and someone else....

Hahahahaha! I had him on my fantasy team last year. It seemed like he had a 1-10 night from three point range EVERY FREAKING TIME. You can't ship him out of here fast enough as far as I'm concerned..... He's gotta be one of the dumbest players in the league. Him and Curry are best friends, and I could totally see why. It's like a Beavis and Butthead type deal. Those guys are perfect for one another.

Well, make no mistake about it: Ricky Williams sucked last year. If you take a look at his game log, he had some pitiful statisitics in a number of important games. But he rushed for 1950 yards (give or take 25 yards) in 2002. He and LT of the Chargers were the best backs in the league going into the 2003 season. He's merely Top Ten going into the 2004 season. I have him behind LT, Jamal Lewis, Clinton Portis, Ahman Green, Stephen Davis, Deuce McAllister, Priest Holmes, etc. He's right there with Shaun Alexander, Edgerrin James, Marshall Faulk, and Curtis Martin. He gawn for now, but he'll be back.

Trent Hassell gets big offer from Portland
hammerhead johnson replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Holy s***..... This might put Portland in prime position for the 7th or 8th seed, as opposed to the 10th or 11th seed (my previous rank). All of a sudden they'd have a starting squad of Van Exel, Hassell, Abdur Rahim, Randolph, and Ratliff. That is one hell of a squad. Depth is their weakness as of now, as opposed to last year, when they had Dale Davis and Ruben Patterson off the bench. And Darius Miles might turn into something. Who knows. Portland just became one of my five favorite teams in the NBA other than the Bulls, along with Detroit, Indiana, San Antonio, and Denver. -
A-Rod takes a beating

Well, when you combine the beaning and the catcher's mitt to the face, I'd say that he caught a bad one. But that's just me, I guess. -
That's exactly right. My morale is at a season low right now, despite the fact that we can advance to 10 games over .500 with a victory tonight. No Maggs? No Frank? Son of a b****.....

A-Rod takes a beating

A-Rod gets beaned by Bronson Arroyo, and then he catches a beatdown from Jason Varitek. That's teamwork, baby. -
I thought that it was a triceps tear?

What RF's are availiable from trade?

Sox fans from Michigan.....you gotta love 'em. -
Do an internet search with these four keywords: Baseball, Triceps Tear, Diving It's a common injury, especially for outfielders.

I listened to the first couple innings of the game on 1000 AM. Farmer said that in all of his years in baseball (since the 60s), he's never seen a player with "Bone Marrow Edema". He stated that this injury is common for people who are involved in automobile accidents. I started watching the game on Fox Sports Net in the 4th inning. Hawk stated that in all of his years in baseball (since the 50s), he's never seen a player with "Bone Marrow Edema". Jackson chimed in as well. This is some serious, serious s***.

SI believes the Cubs are dead

In my best Nelson voice: Ha ha. -
I remember a few months back when you were saying that Willie Harris would hit close to 10 HR, and I told you that I'd be surprised if he hit 1 HR. My entire point was that he should be hitting the ball on the ground every single time. I can go retrieve the thread link if you want..... I'm glad to see that you've come around, though.

Great avatar! Welcome to soxtalk!

"I'll believe it when I hear it on ESPN radio...." I feel sorry for you. :headshake

A doctor diagnosed it. Laurence Holmes reported it.

Bone marrow edema:
-
They just said on the score that he has "bone marrow adeema" or some such. It all revolves around the bone.
-
I think they're referring to his entire leg. Cartilage in his knee wouldn't be that big of a deal. But he's had numerous issues with the same leg, which sounds like a degenerative issue to me. And I've heard it discussed on the score by numerous people, and "degenerative" is rarely ever thrown around unless there's a good reason for it. Someone is going to get stuck with a huge contract when Maggs goes on the 5 year DL.
-
Degenerative leg...... Is it safe to assume that Maggs will be retiring within the next year or so? What's the word, big bird?
-
When Maggs first went down, people on the score were speculating that Maggs has a degenerative leg. I remember posting this on here & nobody responded.

Is Mike Murphy off the Score soon
hammerhead johnson replied to WSoxShuf's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
You can get your sports fix by watching the games and READING. Sports radio is about comedy first and foremost. For those of you who criticize North, how often do you even tune in? I've been listening to him for over a decade now. You really think that he's a racist? A sexist? rolleyeyes.gif -
It's a tad windy over here on the northwest side. No big deal. I'm getting ready to take the dog for a walk.
