  1. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 03:41 AM) Quentin's days are numbered I have Quentin in a league with a ton of roster space, and I pretty much only start him on the road, where he's a monster: 157 AB 1.047 OPS .336 AVG 8 HR 22 RBI 24 R I'll throw him out there against a really awful pitcher when he's at Petco, but it usually backfires. Also, if he's going up against a top-shelf lefty, you sit him, regardless of where's he's playing.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 8, 2013 -> 06:46 PM) Starlin Castro's OPS now sits at .596. Ouch. He had a combined 7.4 WAR at the age of 22, but he's at negative 1.5 thus far in 2013, bringing his career figure down to 5.9. This is currently one of the strangest stories in the MLB.
  3. You guys are really puffing out your bird chests. Going against the grain!
  4. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 06:59 PM) I almost feel guilty for rooting for this kid to fail, but what do you expect when you have weirdos busting a nut every time he comes to the plate. Busting multiple nuts per Dodgers game isn't easy for a dry guy such as myself. My dick is starting to develop sideburns. Yeah, I'm that guy that owns Puig in all of his fantasy leagues. Nobody else can brag, because if I were in your league, he'd be on my roster. Bank on it. All haters get the bozack.
  5. Season 2 of The Wire is amazing. I didn't think so when it originally aired, but its replay value is through the roof. I've probably done like 15 Wire marathons. Easily my favorite show of all time.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 06:34 PM) Not brilliant, just logical. Brilliant considering the lack of pitching depth in the Cubs organization & the fact that a mega SP prospect like Gray was right there for the taking. A lot of people had him down as the highest-ceiling pitcher in the draft. Most GMs under the same circumstances would have drafted him, although I could be wrong.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 06:28 PM) And that's the problem with pitching prospects especially. I hear you, which is why the Kris Bryant pick was so brilliant.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 5, 2013 -> 06:15 PM) Vizcaino has been garbage this season, FWIW. I recall seeing him ranked as the #2 prospect in a loaded Atlanta Braves system going into 2012 (behind Julio Teheran), but if he can't get on the field, then it doesn't really matter. At this point, I think they'd be thrilled if he turned out to be a quality reliever by 2015/2016.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 11:38 AM) Why isn't Concepcion on your list there, buddy? We'll have to cover the pitching situation after the Garza trade. 2015 1. Samardzija 2. ? 3. ? 4. Pierce Johnson/Arodys Vizcaino 5. Edwin Jackson I'm guessing that they'll push towards a 150 million payroll in a couple years from now, so they'll have plenty of cash to fill out a rotation. I thought that Theo was flirting with clown status when he made a push to sign Anibal Sanchez, but I was wrong. Anibal confuses the hell out of me, though. His month-to-month splits indicate that he's got some issues between the ears. Still, he would have been a solid #3 for years to come. Edwin Jackson is one of the worst investments in the majors at 13 million per season through 2016.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 07:01 PM) Penciling them all in and expecting them all to be a great success when they're not even in AA yet is ludicrous. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 07:08 PM) Putting Jimenez there is like a Sox fan assuming Zapata and Courtney Hawkins will both make it. You never know. That's why it's called a futures squad. I never said that they'd all work out.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 07:43 PM) Not nearly as good as the "Greatest system in a decade" the Royals trotted out there a couple years ago. The jury is still out on a lot of those Royals players. And in that same article, they talk about the Diamondbacks 2006 system: Justin Upton, Carlos Gonzalez, Carlos Quentin, etc. But it's irrelevant. We're talking about different talent evaluators.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 07:37 PM) Good god. I've been known to orgasm to prospects. But c'mon now. I do like what the Cubs are doing, though. Let's orgasm together. Yes homo.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 07:34 PM) LOL, yeah, and every one of those guys is going to be an immediate and long-term success, because that's the norm with prospects. But the Cubs futures squad is still glorious. I know you see that.
  14. This is the best thread on this site by a very large margin. Futures squad: C: Wellington Castillo 1B: Anthony Rizzo 2B: Starlin Castro SS: Javier Baez 3B: Kris Bryant OF: Albert Almora OF: Jorge Soler OF: Eloy Jimenez Someone post one for the White Sox. No, I'm just kidding. Man, why did they have to sign Edwin Jackson? They could have put that money towards resigning Garza.
  15. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 28, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) C 1B 2B Beckham 3B Gillaspie SS LF CF RF I like it, with the exception of Beckham and Gillaspie.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 1, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) Puig probably won't even hit .400 this season. Check out Dick with the bold predictions.
  17. My guys keep doing things. I can't keep up with all of these ill prospects.
  18. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 05:15 AM) I won't be switching sides. Troll. That's adorable. I'll bet you're one of those dudes at the game chanting PAULIE! PAULIE! while he puts up a career WAR of 26. Couldn't even get close to Kent Hrbek.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 4, 2013 -> 04:26 AM) I'll give Steve credit, his thread has brought out some of the worst and/or most negative posters in SoxTalk history from the dead. Honestly, I've heard Score post-game callers provide more insight than this garbage. Quoting a player's "career" slugging percentage two months into their first full year in the majors just about sums up the quality of this meathead post. BTW, shouldn't you be sucking off Thesus on some Cubs message board right about now? Oops, I thought he played a good amount of games with the Giants. Damn, so he's a 26 year old rookie? Wow. And that Cubs comment sounds like a personal attack. I like it. The lack of personal attacks around these parts is why I only check in once or twice a month. Cubs got Bryant. What did the Sox get? More weak hitters, correct? You're gonna be switching over to the dark side come 2015 just like the rest of us, so suck on that. Word.
  20. A third baseman with a career slugging percentage of .370? That's brilliant. Great plan. Take it to 'em, Steve.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2013 -> 02:33 PM) Dayan Viciedo His OPS against RHP went from .650 in 2012 to .690 this season. We're in business!
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 08:06 PM) Meanwhile, this has zero to do with the current team. I'm searching for a light at the end of the tunnel, but all I see is a 55% strikeout rate. But but, he's only 19 duuuude! And Jared Mitchell has a 42% strikeout rate, which is actually pretty good in comparison. Can't wait for the future to get here.
  23. Courtney Hawkins has his strikeout percentage up to 55%. There have been 8 games where he had 3 or more strikeouts, and his season just started on April 5. Our top prospect, correct? Lovely.
  24. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 25, 2013 -> 10:17 PM) Goddamnit why does it have to be embarrassing to be a White Sox fan?
